2019 marks the 16th anniversary of our work with the Kichwa. What started as a request for a one room school has expanded into a K-12 educational system. However, there still are many gaps in their basic education. We could use help teaching any subject including playground activities for girls as well as for the boys. FYI: School is conducted in Spanish. If we are awarded the Global Grant (which will take 2-3 years to complete all sub-projects), we could use help (training and/or construction of) greenhouses, composting toilets, efficient cooking stoves, nutrition, hygiene, reforestation, plumbing lessons, electrical lessons, starting micro-businesses related to the previous topics and/or any topic! Your hosts who run a 'hostal' are Paulino and his wife Elvia. Both are gentle, intelligent, motivated and amazing people. Please contact Pam Gilbert either via our website (which is updated fairly regularly), WhatsApp, Skype or by emailing use through HelpX.

With the acquisition of a jungle terrain within 6 kilometers of the Ecuadorian Pacific coast, we have started a project of preservation and awareness in a communal setting.

We nurse and plant trees to bring the jungle back in its original state, which was cut down many years ago.

On 30 hectares of land, we plan to create ecological community to develop environmentally sustainable and productive agroforestry systems based on practices like permaculture and bio-construction.

We, the people taking care of the place, are a couple from France and the Netherlands and are living and working here since October 2016 to recruit volunteers and work on the project. We like to make music (guitar). We speak English, Spanish, French and Dutch.

As we will be going back to Europe in the end of February, we are looking for people that are interested in taking over our job for at least three months. The job consists of recruiting volunteers and taking care of all communication, ruling the... more inside

hello there! We are a small hostel in north Quito's area around la carolinas park, beautiful area, secure!. We are looking for volunteers. Most duties are related to the reception duties. You would learn the booking system and maintain the reservation list, deal with check- ins and check -outs. This type of knowledge would give you an advantage for the future volunteering jobs across South America. Some light housekeeping duties are expected. We maintain friendly atmosphere at the hostel and interaction with guests is necessary to do the job properly. Basic understanding of Spanish is OK and you would have an opportunity to improve your language skills. Longer stay is preferable.

Hi Everyone!

We are Monika and Daniel, a young couple that moved from Brazil to Ecuador to start a new, exciting chapter of life on this side of the continent. In December 2015 we made our dream come true, we bought a house in the famous village of Montanita and created a cosy hostel that quickly built great reputation and became a home away from home for travellers from all around the world. We have been running the hostel ourselves for over a year now but due to our personal circumstances we'll need a lot of help starting from February 15th.

We hope to create a team of three-four volunteers who will help us keep our place as "heavenly" as possible :)

The hostel is very small (max 13 people capacity), super homely, safe and peaceful. We're located in El Tigrillo, a beautiful, quiet neighbourhood of Montanita, around 10mins walking distance from the crazy hectic centre of Montanita.

Travellers come to us in search of tranquility and nature, which there's plenty of al... more inside

First, a little about my self, then the farm. With 65 years of experiences, I may have a lot to offer you.
Most of my experiences before I got into organic growing were in medicine. I grew up assisting my father, a veterinarian, in caring for animals. During Viet Nam I worked on an infected orthopedic ward as a hospital corpsman in the Navy. After receiving my second degree, a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing, I worked for the largest non-profit hospice in the world. We cared for over 1,000 people per day. Having a 3 part specialty in wounds, ostomies, and continance, I provided consults for doctors and nurses concerning those areas. When my late wife became disabled with chronic pain, I dedicated my life to being knowledgeable and competent in alternative healing. Teaching was a large part of nursing. The skills I developed in teaching and communicating with a large diverse population are readily used on the farm.
For 5 years I had an organic garden in Southern Florid... more inside

We are an Ecuadorian/German couple and opened our hostel in Salinas in March 2014. Since then we have accommodated volunteers from different continents and countries and welcomed guests from around the world. During the entire year, we need flexible volunteers who are interested in helping us and at the same time, want to get to know the area, culture and improve their language skills.
We are looking for someone who is willing to help us 4 hours daily, doing some maintenance and/or cleaning work, that is, cleaning rooms, bath rooms, social areas etc. Sometimes, we also need help in the kitchen or with attending guests.
We offer a shared room with a private bathroom, free WiFi and Satellite TV in the social area as well as usage of the kitchen and laundry facilities.
In sporadic cases when the hostel gets full, we offer a big tent with a mattress for a couple of days, which does not happen very often.

We are a small community, trying to be self-sufficient, located in a tropical forest area, in the middle of nowhere, close from Portoviejo, Manabí, Ecuador.
We are working in a permaculture way, for building (bamboo houses) and organic farming.
The place is very quiet, in a little natural paradise, surrounded by a tropical forest, waterfalls, and various sympatical animals. We are close from a little village (1km) and we have very good relations with the local people, sharing a lot of things. We speak spanish, french and english. We provide 3 meals/day and we are vegetarians. 4-5 hours working/day, 5 days/week. For the accomodation, we provide bamboo house, tent or hammock to availibility. There is no internet access (you have to go to the little town, 12 km far away from us).

Our community is unlike any place and is mainly characterized by the lifestyle that takes in here. Well, when you come you'll find in a natural paradise surrounded full of flora and fauna without contact ... more inside
