I have a small holding (five hectares) in the mountains of Hogs Back, I am currently building wooden structures. We are busy with gardening and landscaping to accommodate campers. I am a qualified woodworker and Leather Master craftsman and have taught many apprentices in both fields. The work is hard but rewarding in beautiful surroundings.

Many thanks

This is a privately owned ancient indigenous forest situated between Stanford and Gansbaai in the Western Cape. It is a 2 hour drive from Cape Town and set in a beautiful valley. The forest is a short 15 minute drive from Walker Bay where the Southern Right Whales return each year to birth their young. Shops and restaurants are easily accessible.

We are open to guests and offers forest trails, as well as accommodation set beneath the ancient trees. There is a tree nursery of indigenous trees, many of which are grown for rehabilitating parts of the forest that were felled in days past. Thousands of these trees are planted in these rehabilitation sites each year in May when the first winter rains start. The planting takes place during the annual Reforest Festivals that are held at Platbos.

Volunteers can also learn about the Platbos African Tree Essences (see www.africantreeessences.co.za)

We are a working alpaca farm near Paarl in the Western Cape. But there also are some sheep, dromedaries, horses and the usual farmyard crowd. There are also our son Daniel, 4 years, and Amelia, 2 years.
Additionally we do have a coffee shop and weaving studio on the farm.
Volunteer help is needed for a never-ending list of small and big projects:
The coffee shop always benefits from help, and the kids love to be looked after, too. To get a better English-language base for the two kids, we would currently love to have native English speakers who would be interested in spending time with them.
Hands are also welcome for any of the planned extensions - agility course for alpacas, kids party area,... Landscaping will need doing around the coffee shop now towards the end of winter.
Our five dromedaries also always do benefit of more training, be it ground work or riding (horse experience a must for this).
And there's always things like gardening, clearing of alien vegetation, and ... more inside

We life a simple life in rural Zululand. We can see the coastal dunes and Lake Sibaya from our place. Our site is a budding permaculture site with off grid water and electricity and the beginnings of a permaculture garden is taking shape.

Life is busy here. If you like to keep busy this is a place to consider,

I have a shop in Sodwana that sells art, massage, second hand clothes and great coffee. I need help washing fixing and marking stock as well as shop assisting.

At times we are involved with facilitating rural experiences for local tourist companies. If you have a drivers lisence you may help with that too.

In September we would like some volunteers to help with making green mango atchar.

Furthermore we would like volunteers that can help with gardening, household chores, childminding, planting vegetables, picking veg for the meals, cooking and housekeeping, maintaining the wind generator, fixing cars, driving to town to go shopping and general life stuff.

Hello! My name is Vincent and I'm part of a small team working with nature in the wonderful mountains of Mpumalanga, South Africa.

Our project seeks to establish a lifestyle of health and well being through holistic practices powered by self sustainable methods and technologies. This self sustainable green machine will provide the platform for our Yoga retreats and other workshops.

The self sustainable ideal initiated with a volunteer project in January 2015. This includes living completely off of the land and the resources the earth provides us. We already have mineral rich water straight from a mountain spring, perfect for all our water needs, a covered nursery and greenhouse for organic, non-GMO fruit and veg and our own solar power.

The project is now ready to support a holistic way of living for volunteers and visitors interested in yoga, meditation, retreats. There is an outdoor yoga deck with a breathtaking view, meditation by the rocky river pools, guided waterfall... more inside
