General gardening and sprucing up of the house would be much appreciated.I've just arrived back after some months away during which time I had careful house sitters. There is, though, some garden furniture painting to do and quite a lot of gardening. I'd greatly appreciate your ideas. This is a lovely area of France, stunning countryside and beautiful, ancient farmhouse. No convenient public transport but I would meet you in Albi.Someone with a car would be able to make the most of the surrounding villages, some of the most beautiful in France. If you don't have one, though, I am prepared to give some time to showing helpers around. The house is about two minutes' walk from nearest village with a bar and bistro but not a buzzy village square. 5 km along beautiful crest walk to a much bigger neighbouring village. Own room with ensuite shower room offered plus good food and local wine. Willing to accept a couple.

Le Gers, near Agen, SW France.

A somewhat unusual hosting offer as it is for such a short period of time and with two very specific jobs. However if you happen to be in the area, this might be a handy stepping-stone for you.

We will principally be loading onto tractors, machine-splitting and moving lots of piles of logs, some small, some medium, some big. I need 2-3 people max for two days work and then one day off, at the local market for a great lunch and then being dropped off at the station. I can pay, but alas only pocket money, 50 each but the outdoors work will be invigorating and extremely satisfying (piling firewood always is), plus we always eat (and drink) well in the evenings! The other job is oiling up some teak, which is not too strenuous but a little tedious (also satisfying once done finished though).

Please see my comments from other HelpXers. Also, really check your dates as I am only looking for Helpers from the evening of the 3rd until after lunch on ... more inside

CAUTION with us the work is hard but it is well rewarded !

ATTENTION we live in the country, we are isolated , no activities or possible evenings.

- ----------------------------------------

We are a French family living in the middle of the countryside, Gers, Midi Pyrenees.

We have many projects and a lot of work to complete our dreams.

We are renovating an old farm where everything is done : floors, walls, plaster , furniture ...
We would like to develop a beautiful garden and small livestock with us to achieve maximum self -sufficiency.

We live very far from large cities , and the Gers is a sparsely populated region.

We have two children aged 4 and 5 years , a very large dog , rabbits , sheep, pigs , a cat ...

We welcome people (young and old) motivated and courageous, who love the manual and physical labor. This is work that must carry heavy loads.

We ask 5h of work per day, 5 days a week in exchange for three meals and the best possible reception. ... more inside

Hello i'm Jean-Pierre, i'm 55. I'm living in a small town in the south of France. I have 3 grown up children. One lives in Millau, and my twins daughter are often away travelling around the world.
I have a beautiful old house that i'm renovating with a big backyard (you can even see dears sometimes).
There is a supermarket few meters from the house and a park with the river to go swimming or kayaking. You can join the center of the town by feet or bus.

Millau is famous for its Viaduc (biggest Bridge of Europe) and extreme sport (paragliding, kayaking, rock-climbing..). The town is pretty quiet during the winter but there is a lot of things to do in summer (traditional market, walks..) There are a lot of beautiful villages around and some castles.
Also, Montpellier, a big city close the the mediterranean sea is only 1h15 from Millau. During the winter the skiing places are not so far too.

How did i find helpX?
My daughter went to Australia for one year and had an amazing ... more inside

We're currently working on a vegetable garden with raised beds and a greenhouse. We're clearing land, planting, making wooden raised beds, laying paths, etc. Outside we're also building stone walls, building block walls, rendering block walls and pointing old stone walls. Inside we're decorating bedrooms and hallways.

We can offer volunteers their own room, and plenty of food. We're looking for capable people who with a sense of humour, who're prepared to muck in and help out and we promise to look after them.

ABOUT US

We're a middle-aged couple who settled out here in the Ariege region of the Pyrenees about three years ago. Our kids had all left home and we thought it was time to have our own adventure. We would describe ourselves as easy-going, young-at-heart people with a good sense of humour and a good work/life balance. We have lots of friends here and a great social life consisting mainly of having friends round for dinner, or going out to their houses. ... more inside

We've just bought a 16th century auberge in a beautiful medieval town and need some help with preparing the building for our business. We'll be paying builders to do the major works but we'll need help with finishing.

We're especially interested in people with building experience, plumbers and carpenters.

We offer vegetarian food and accommodation, free internet access and the chance to spend time in one of the most beautiful towns in the south west of France.

We are an English couple with a 9 month old son and will eventually be running cycling holidays.

We are a family of three, including a two-and-a-half-year-old little girl, living in a house in the very South of France, 5 minutes from a quaint historical little town in the Pyrenees.

The house has a large garden and a couple pastures and is set in a very quiet area (a hamlet surrounded by pasture land) in the foothills of the Pyrenees (40 minutes from ski resorts and 2 hours from the sea).

We are francophones and I am an English teacher at the local high school. I've visited 22 countries and lived in the UK and Canada. When I was a child, we used to host foreign students who wanted to learn French and I loved the experience.

We are very "Nature"-oriented, eat organic food, and have a vegetable garden as well as some fruit trees.

The garden is big and used to be an "abandoned" pasture, so it's fairly "rustic".

A lot of work has been put into it over the last few years (clearing, planting fruit trees and raspberry bushes, setting up a vegetable garden, etc...), as ... more inside
