We run a small yurt camp site, with 4 Yurts and a Shepherd`s Hut. We really enjoyed welcoming 3 HelpX people in 2018 and are now looking for a helper, or a couple, who can help us get ready to put up the yurts for the new season that starts at Easter. Each yurt takes a (short) day to put up and then another 2 days to furnish and decorate and it's a satisfying process! During this period we also have some painting work to do (inside and outside our renovated barn) and landscaping work to do in the meadow, around the garden and maintaining the farm buildings. We can help if you want to learn more about basic carpentry and painting skills, and landscaping/gardening for wildlife.
We're a "Green" environmentally award winning site, running for 8 years and we also have a "green" approach to our house, with solar pv and solar panels for hot water, as well as a wood pellet boiler. Whilst not registered organic, we have an organic sensibility and don`t use any chemicals on the land o... more inside

Me and my partner have been building a smallholding farm over the last 18 months. Lots of hard work and two man jobs have made it slow going. We are completely off grid but have basic facilities within a static caravan. There is a smaller caravan for anyone wishing to have their own space. This has its own cooker and gas heater. We have over 100 animals on site so not minding animals is a must, if you like animals you will almost certainly love our place. We are looking for someone to help us with building barns, shelters, and developing our off grid facilities, things like poo picking the horses and cleaning out the housing is also very helpful. We are honest and trustworthy and are looking for someone to offer us the same level of respect.

My day to day jobs include:
Feeding animals
Cleaning out animals
Fencing
Planting
Working the horses
Collecting eggs boxing up and adding to selling hut

I could use help for a minimum of 3 hours a day maximum of 6 so can be flexib... more inside

We also do weddings in the summer - check out our website so you can see our farm and the area. We are a you my ish couple with a new born baby

It is a lovely rural area, in a beautiful setting with lots of walking on the doorstep. The nearest market town is only 1 mile away, Kirkbymoorside, which has a farmers market every Wednesday. There is a bus stop 10 minutes walk away which you can get to places like Pickering, Helmsley, Whitby and York.

The jobs in the winter are mainly mucking out the horses, putting in the fields, changing rugs, cleaning tack and if you can ride well, exercising them too. In the summer it is more help with the weddings - cleaning the barns, preparing the cabin etc. You can also ride in your spare time. We have 8 acres of woodland with streams and river - good for walking, as is nearby Bodmin moor. We are about 30 minutes from the nearest seaside and 10 minutes from the nearest town, Callington. Our vegetable garden is raised beds on a sloping site, soft fruit area and orchard. We have a friendy cat, Maisie.

We live in an eco-house which we designed and did a lot of the work on. We generate our own electricity by a photo voltaic system and our water supply is from a woodland spring. Accommodation is comfortable - own double room. We are not vegetarian but are happy to cater for vegetarians.. We have good wireless internet access.

Help mostly needed in woodlands and garden - getting in wood, and maintaining paths, clearing brambles etc. We are affiliated with an organic growing project which delivers veg boxes in the área, and usually our volunteers spend some time there helping out and meeting more people.

Our daughter and family are next door and also need help ... more inside

An organic project in a stunning location, in Snowdonia.

In summer, we need help maintaining the woodland we planted in 1996, clearing bracken and bramble, doing sustainable construction projects and generally caring for veg plots and the land.
We will work together for 4-5 hours a day, depends what we are up to really, if it's a fun project we may work longer. Most days have a mix of weather; there is no need to work in the rain or extreme heat and the beach is nearby.
There is a tiny straw bale house on the land and a caravan for guests.
Would suit an individual or couple who are happy with very basic facilities. It may suit weekenders. Water is from a private supply.
Public transport (bus and train) is within 1 mile and we are on sustrans route 8.
Within 2 miles is a small shop and pub, within 5 miles many shops, bank, pharmacy, take-away food, restaurants and cafes.
There are many lovely places to visit here, such as Harlech castle, Potmeirion, beautiful beaches, the Ff... more inside
