Hi,
I think I'll start by introducing you to our family! I'm Connor, I live with my daughter Iona (aka the squid) and my mum in a nice house in a village outside Edinburgh. We have been hosting through various programs for a long time (anyone remember globalfreeloaders?) and love the variety of experiences it brings into our lives.

*** Jobs ***

The thing we most want to do at the moment is getting the house (interior!!) painted, that's a lot of painting and I really want to find someone with experience if possible.

Also we want to work on the garden. My mum is in charge of this area and we are looking for someone who knows a bit about plants and gardening so that she can give instructions but not have to be outside all the time as she is a bit older and stiff in the legs these days.

****************

If you're good with young children or have nannying experience that would be a huge bonus, our girl is inquisitive and friendly and will want to play with you. Io... more inside

CICD is an international college with students from around 10 countries, situated in north east England.
We are a residential college so students, staff and volunteers all live here on site.
Our courses run all year around and are for people who prepare to go as volunteers to development projects in Africa or India.
We are situated in a beautiful rural area, in the middle of 30 acres of park also inhabited by our local wildlife (rabbits, foxes, deer....). We have a big walled garden where we grow organic vegetables and hold chicken, ducks and geese.

You are welcome to join us as a volunteer helper for a period of 3 weeks up to 2 months - or maybe more.
You will then also enjoy the life and team spirit of our international community! The daily life here is rich with different cultural activities.
CICD is a busy and active place and you can help with many different tasks in these areas:
- Our park and organic garden farm. Planting, clearing and weeding, harvesting, makin... more inside

The eccentric couple owning the award winning garden have build this place up from a ruin within the last 45 years. It is now a mature wildlife and garden retreat for them and those of us who are lucky enough to help them.
Chris is not only an exquisite plant expert, but has also build several follies, sculptures and hide aways on the land creating an extraordinary place to be. Both of the owners, though in their late 70th, are outgoing, vibrant, and busy.

I have lived here as volunteer now since summer 2017 with my own little hut behind the bees in the orchard, but there are rooms in the house; its ideal for people with their own live in vehicles or we have some tucked away spaces if you prefer to be more away from the communal living. I am mainly responsible for the polly - tunnel and fruit cage and orchard, but there is plenty to do in all areas.

The work will be aspects of garden and woodland maintenance, but also taking part in building projects, tree houses, zip wir... more inside

I am looking for someone from March. I am having an operation and will be out of action for around 10-12 weeks. Please only apply if you like cats. I need someone with experience of running and taking care of a home. There will be indoor and outdoor work, including gardening. Climbing high ladders will be necessary. I need hands on practical helpers.
Some expertise in I.T and web set up/ selling would be an advantage.
If you enjoy cooking and eating a wide variety of healthy food this would be a good advantage. Vegetarian/pescatarion or vegan would also be an advantage.

I need someone that I can trust and is willing and able to listen to what I need and take instruction from me and follow my direction, yet someone who is capable of doing a good job on their own. I absolutely need someone who knows how to clean up after themselves and not create more work from "allegedly" doing a job.

Please note: I am not running a hotel for travellers wanting a free holiday with no acco... more inside

We are located in the Highlands on the coast road of the Applecross Peninsula near the small crofting township of Kenmore, in a peaceful, rural location.

Help please from April - October. See below the list of help we ask from our guests.

We run a seasonal, small Artisan smoking business, set within the grounds and to the rear of our house. Also in the grounds we have a small self catering cottage which is let on a weekly basis, mainly from March to October.

The help we request varies daily, cleaning and maintenance in the Smokehouse premises once a week, and within the house weekly, help with maintenance of outbuildings and garden work, this might be one or two days a week, the garden is laid mostly to shrubs and grass. We both help with the tasks when not too busy with the preparation and sales of the smoked products.

Help please to clean and prepare the holiday cottage for a few hours on a Saturday morning. Also some help with general housework in the home duri... more inside

We are a friendly family of 3 humans, 1 cat 2 dogs and a few crazy chickens. We live in a beautiful part of England called the Eden Valley which is on the edge of the lake district. There are plenty of opportunities for walking and viewing the country side. We live in a barn conversion which we have been doing up mostly by ourselves. We have a large garden which is still like a field and needs work on for veg, beds and fencing, garden tidying etc...and we need help finishing off things in the barn. We know what we want and can guide so great if your none or semi skilled but we mostly need people with a willingness to learn and to do things like labouring, digging and lighter work.

The accommodation is our airbnb, a self contained annex which has its own shower, kitchen living room and one bedroom that can sleep up to 4 with one double bed one single and one put up bed.

Our village is very pretty and ancient - buried Roman treasure has been found by metal detectors in this area... more inside

We have spent 3 years on major house/garden renovation, trying to make our lifestyle as low impact as we can, but are still needing some help: to clear &terrace & plant a very steep bank, get in place rainwater harvesting system, chicken pen, fruit trees, wood store & lots more. I am offering all food & accommodation for approx 6 hours/day. Day off/ week. Min 1 week. Beautiful location few minutes from beach. Bikes & kayaks available. Wi-fi, TV, table football, red squirrels, lots of birds, fantastic walking. Hard physical work, fit people needed!
We are about 10/15 mins walk from the village shop which is really well stocked. There is also a Post Office/cafe/ bar. Ventnor, a small town, is about 20 mins cycle along the partly closed to vehicles road, or about 1 hour walk along the stunning coastal path. The surfing is apparently quite good when conditions are right.
'Phone reception at the house is poor to non existent, but people seem able to connect to the wifi ok.

We are not currently looking for a helper as we are using the accommodation for staff.

In 2013 our village bought the pub and it is now run by the community providing not only a traditional pub, but also a cafe and Post Office in the heart of the Peak District National Park with walking, mountain biking (bike hire available locally), running, climbing and fishing on the doorstep. The village has good train and bus connections, with various tourist attractions assessable by public transport.

We welcome helpers who can help us in the cafe, bar, kitchen, general repairs (we currently have quite a few painting jobs) or the grounds, where we have an aspiration to create both a kitchen garden and a cutting garden. If you want to get out of the heat our cellar needs painting!

A sole occupancy bunkhouse with small kitchen, including washing machine and bathroom with bath and shower is available. In exchange for 24 hours work a week we provide facilities to make your own breakfast, ... more inside

We are on the banks of the beautiful Helford River on the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall. We have a large woodland garden where we need help to keep the brambles away and stop it turning into wilderness. And 8 hectares of forest garden and young walnut and chestnut trees that need weeding, mulching and loving, and planting of shelterbelts.
Also, we have a variety of barns and outbuildings that need various amounts of restoration/repair if anyone is interested.
There is self-contained accommodation with possibility to self-cater if and when appropriate.
There is a village shop and pub 5 minutes walk away, but anything more is 10 miles away. So a car would be good. Or a bicycle.
