Our land is half woods, half pasture. A beautiful valley close to South Brent in Devon.

Work this spring / summer is mainly woodland management, preparing firewood, milling, stacking & stripping timber, and looking after the poultry. There will also be a couple of events which I might require assistance with. At present I am very busy with paperwork for a planning appeal - so you need to be practical and responsible as you will be expected to complete jobs under your own steam.

We have also planted a tree nursery and orchard which requires care, organically reared chickens who need feeding.

Experienced or skilled / able volunteers most welcome.
Check the website and get in touch.

You will need to be self-motivated and able to cook for yourself (it's self-catering). I come in and out of the woods most days & do a weekly shop or as I can, or you can walk/cycle / hitch to the shops in South Brent / Totnes with ease.

Accommodation is in caravan or yurt. Self catering in ... more inside

We are a family of 3, living in a beautiful Somerset village called Mells. We are about 10 mins by car or bus to the market town of Frome which has recently been voted as the coolest town to live by Guardian magazine. It has lots of cultural things to do, especially if you like music, funky shops and an artisan market.
Our village also has two cafes, a great pub, as well as many country walks to enjoy with our Labrador dog called Nala. When we are not working, we enjoy spending time at home, developing our garden which is a project that we would very much like help with. We ‘re hoping to start growing vegetables and to create a beautiful pond area.
Rachel has travelled a lot in her twenties and lived in France and Italy so is very passionate about the joys of travelling to new places and discovery new cultures.

Hi, I'm a self employed single mum with two lovely children (ages 9 & 7) who are educated at home. We have a fairly laidback and alternative lifestyle though I never have enough time to get everything done. I've recently set up my massage therapy business, which is stretching my time even more.

I'm looking for a non-smoking, energetic and enthusiastic helper who is happy to do whatever is needed around the house & garden for 4-5 hours a day. This could be anything, but is most likely to be doing the housework for me (cooking our evening meal, cleaning, laundry, etc) and hanging out with my kids. You'll need to be competent, flexible, happy to work on your own and enjoy the company of children!

In return you'll have accommodation in your own room and three meals a day. We eat a mixture of organic & non organic foods, some homemade and some shop-bought. We go on daytrips most weeks to explore the local area, which you'd be welcome to join us on. We have wifi you can use an... more inside

We have recently moved to a house and have done a fair amount of work but we’re looking for someone who is willing to help out in the garden with weeding, clearing etc as well as the odd job around the house.
We are a family of 6; 4 children aged 3yrs - 13yrs and are looking for someone to help us out for a couple of weeks over the next few months. We live in a small hamlet in Somerset with plenty of opportunity to explore the local countryside and practice English. We also have bikes that you could borrow. We also have 2 dogs, Milo and Elsie. We are about 25 minutes from the coast, and are 7 minutes from the local town/station. We look forward to sharing our home with someone who is up for a bit of everything, but mainly garden work, you will be part of the family and invited to join us for meals and you will have your own bedroom. We look forward to hearing from you, thanks Leni

The space here has evolved over the last 25 years from a collection of dilapidated farm buildings to what is now a hub of small scale organic farming, micro businesses and education.

There are always things going on here, from monthly markets to the little music festival we run.

We are looking for volunteers to help manage our organic walled garden which supplies an onsite cafe and any events here. As of 2015 the garden is a social enterprise in its own right and is just one part of a very unique set up where we aim to share our space to provide learning opportunities, responsible and interesting places for people to build their businesses, and unique homes for people to live. The heart of the place is the garden, it's where our food comes from and we aim to be in a position where the garden and what's growing determines our offering and events programme. This is a great opportunity to learn about permaculture, organics and sustainable living in a place where there is space ... more inside
