We are a family-run small pearl business around Cape York on the small private Roko Island. Our primary activity is pearl oyster farming, but due to our isolation, we are growing our own organic vegetables & free range chickens.
We have started a bead and breakfast on the island and we are always looking for good helping hands.
Living on Roko Island is a good way to escape from the big cities. It's a beautiful place to visit and there's lots of fish to catch! Work includes helping in greenhouse, making compost, landscaping, looking after chickens, oyster work, maintenance on the island. Accom for 1-4 in your own dwelling. Children b.a. Mixed diet. NSI. Min stay 4 weeks, neg. after first few days.

Help needed in the taro field at present, mainly planting and mulch spreading. The shed needs a post harvest clean and help in the mangosteen orchard as I was pretty badly damaged by the January floods so lots of repair work with the irrigation system. This is an isolated farm so only for those who love the bush and nature.
My farm is on the banks of the Daintree River in far north Queensland, 100kms north of Cairns. I grow Mangosteens and Taro. Accomodation is in two spare rooms in the house. Access is by boat only so it is a bit like living on an island, if you have a 4WD then there is a bush track which is passable in the dry season only, otherwise it is perfectly safe to leave your car in the township as I do. Unfortunately I live on the banks of a crocodile inhabited river, the human eating kind, so extreme care always when near the river. All my children are now grown up with my three daughters living in Melbourne and my son in Cape York. I am used to and enjoy the comp... more inside

We are finishing our building of a rammed earth house using natural building techniques and developing our permaculture garden. The house is off grid in beautiful bushland and our electricity is produced from our solar panels. Our filtered drinking water is collected off the roof and other water is pumped from the river. We are inland, at the north of the Sunshine Coast, just one hour from Gympie and an easy bus ride from Caboolture (near Brisbane). The bus costs $53.

We need volunteers to help us with carpentry, putting latches on windows, filling gaps above the walls and putting the ceiling in the bathroom. We will work alongside you. The gardening is helping to establish a food forest plus weeding, planting and picking vegetables. We welcome vegetarians! We have recently got 2 bee hives and have our first honey! We have 2 dogs and 1 cat and also have some chickens and a guinea fowl.

Hi!
I'm Kate, I love traveling and meeting people from other cultures.

My house is situated 5 minutes walk from a beautiful lake as seen in the pictures. Lake Cootharaba has many water sports such as; sailing, kite-boarding, canoeing, windsurfing and of course swimming. The lake is part of 100 kilometers of the Noosa waterway system.

Thirty minutes drive by car from Boreen Point, is Noosa, renowned for its beautiful beaches. There is a $2 bus that comes 3 times per day, running between Boreen Point and Noosa for helpers that don't have their own transport.

I work as a registered nurse and have great interest in Community Development and Permaculture. I speak Japanese (somewhat diminishing over the years) and have taught Aikido.

I studied Aikido in Japan for 8 years, and have continued to practice and teach(intermittently)over the last 30 yrs. Anyone interested in yoga , exercise, swimming , sailing or just prefer to enjoy peace and serenity would be very welcome. ... more inside

I need some help with fencing, gardening and odd jobs. The accommodation is in the house with my fiance and myself in which you have your own private bed room. We are located half an hour from Surfers Paradise and 10 minutes from Movieworld, wet and wild etc. offering a great location for fun times when not working. I ask for 4 hours a day work in exchange for great food and accommodation or you can work 8 hours and have the next day off, what ever works for you. I will do at least one camp oven during your stay (cooking on the open fire in a cast iron pot) a great Aussie experience. The work is located on 28 acres with kangaroos and walking tracks and water holes to cool off (in the summer). Non smokers please. Must like animals as we have 6 dogs, 6 chickens, 2 cats and a horse, plus lots of wild life. We supply breakfast (cereal and toast) lunch is usually sandwiches and dinner with us what ever we are eating,

We are Todd and Wiebke, Marlo and Millie and we live on an avocado and lime farm outside of Toowoomba (1.5 hrs from Brisbane). We have horses. And we also have a border collie named Pebbles.
Wiebke works in accountancy and Todd is an aircraft engineer and works on helicoopters. Todd is Australian and Wiebke grew up in Germany.
We have both travelled a lot through Europe, South East Asia, Canada and Australia and we know how great it is to see a bit of the local life instead of one hostel after the other.

Volunteer work could include:
: feeding the animals
: farm work
: gardening
: house cleaning etc
: Horse training if experienced
: stick picking
We prefer helpers that are good with children.
You don't need to know anything about farming but as long as you give everything a try and your best effort then we are happy to have you.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
