Hi there, we are a belgian couple (Kim, 35 and Oliver, 46) who started a sustainable living project 7 years ago. We also have a lovely, bright and playful daughter of 7: Lila !

We have a big garden consisting of an old cider orchard, a foresty bit next to the brook where the donkeys love to wander, a big (wild) permaculture veggie patch where unfortunately the chickens love to sneek in and lots of little corners. Besides the garden we have the main building which is the house as well as a big barn/stable, chicken coop, and two other little shacks, with even so many ideas to make out of them! So if you're interested in ecologically living, building and spending some time in the beautiful countryside of the bay of the Mont-Saint-Michel, don't hesitate to contact us!

Thanks to Robyn (UK), Suzu (China), Amandine (France), Albi (Germany), Jade (Taiwan), Theo and Marion (Canada), Thomas (Netherlands), Jo (Germany), Flavien (France), Tegan and Daniel (New-Zealand), Jovel (Israel),... more inside

Hi HelpX folks! ... Although there is plenty to do cleaning up overgrowth will be main mission. A person with basic carpenters skills would be a bonus. There are 2 Gatehouses a Stable a boathouse and a really cool kennel that was used for hunting at one time. There is also an Island that needs to be trimmed up. Most of the jobs will be landscape oriented to bring back the beauty of property. No planting but lots of cutting. -Property getting cleaned up and needs basic maintenance - Landscaping - Debris etc. Possible short or long term stay available. Grass is overgrown trees need to be cut down and trimmed. There are some windows that need to be repaired and a rock wall to repair also. There are many jobs based on skill set. Room and board is available - I don't cook but We can decide on a stipend and you can do your own cooking. We have advanced quite a bit since this was originally put up but there is still plenty to do.

Hello,
I`m Brigitte, I`m working as a software engineer, also involved in psychology (personal development), respectful parenting and ecology.
I live in a big house about 15km from the Mediteranean sea, in Maritim Alps, so not far from mountains too. There is also a nice cat living here.
I`m looking for help with home improvement and gardening - but for discovering new people and sharing as much as for help.
I speak french and english, I eat organic food. No alcohol, no smoking.
Experience in DIY welcomed.
Hope to meet you soon!

Hello. We are an eco center in France about an hour from Bordeaux. Im looking for preferably an English speaker but Spanish & French also ok to help with a campervan project. The vehicle is a 1990 Mercedes bus which I’ve now stripped back to the bare metal, ready to be rebuilt. Im looking for a little team who can work with me on this fun project, if you have any carpentry / woodwork skills, or if you are a good handyman and all-rounder this will be a nice experience in a very relaxed environment.

The van is currently in South West France, so the project will be based here at this centre. I have plenty of tools and space here. The centre is used for retreats so there are plenty of beds, large gardens full of fruit, vegetables and nuts, which we all live from. There is also a great pool you can use. You will become part of the family & community here, the countryside is beautiful, there are many chateaus and vineyards you can visit within walking distance, there is a lovely to... more inside

Welcome to the île d'Oléron! Here in a seaside village, on the north-western shore of this 30 km x 12 km island, I live in a house that I designed and in many respects built myself. Lots of light and space, and a big, somewhat wild garden.

I am looking for solo helpers (sorry, but non-smokers only, please, and no drugs) who would be willing to help me learn beginning Spanish. Stays of two weeks or longer would be ideal, providing everyone feels comfortable. (A good HelpX situation fits the needs of both helper and host!)

About 2 hours of Spanish, plus 2 hours of upkeep work in the garden (for the fun of getting our hands dirty) per day, 5 days a week, in exchange for room & board. I am fairly flexible about which days and which hours we work, since I am considerate of my Helpers' nee... more inside

We are a happy French family that speaks English.
We are looking for a person or a couple that is ecologically conscious, creative and is happy to get involved with all aspects of our home anytime from 15th March to end of october.
There is a lot of work that needs to be achieved ranging from renovating our existing pond and pergola to building a bread oven. Of course there is always work to be done in our vegetable garden along with other little chores around the place. Our home is for people that love nature and tranquility. Your bedroom will be a tipi or a caravan, with a dry toilet in a secluded part of our beautiful 'petite terre'. This is our home and not a business so to give hours of work is difficult, however we will all be working together and we are not slave drivers!

We do home schooling for our 2 children aged 10 and 15 so anyone that has experience and talents to teach our children are welcomed.
We live in the South of France in Provence where there are wonderfu... more inside

update: after one year without hosting we now look forward to host helpers again! We can host from beginning of October.
---------------------------------------------

HelpX people with interest in natural building, sustainable living, visiting Ardèche, learning French... are welcome to join us and help with our project.
The three of us (and our helpers!) live in the countryside in south Ardèche in Labastide de Virac (photo 1), a small village from middle ages and near Ardèche canyon natural reserve "Les gorges de l’Ardèche".

PROJECT
We built two straw bale houses, one for our family and one small house that we use for tourist accommodation. Both houses are built according to the GREB technique. The building of the small house was completed a year ago. We now work on the second straw bale house, the carpentry work is completed (photo 4) as are the straw bale walls, we installed the photovoltaic solar panels for electricity production on the roof of this house. We have a ... more inside

Hello there, welcome to our typical South of France 'Mas Provençal', an old farmhouse which has been transformed into a beautiful family home where we’ve been living for 20 years. Great garden with beautiful trees, pool, hammam, surrounded by vineyards, 5 minutes walk to the village, 30 min drive from both the city of Montpelier and the mediterranean sand beaches .
We are looking for people who have a great sense of humour, ready to roll their sleeves up and get stuck into the job of preparing the house and grounds for rentals, like gardening, painting, woodworking, DIYing, tinkering and a big clear up. Finally, as there is nothing better than having a good meal on a sunny /shadyh terrace, here's hoping you can also cook, and we'll take it in turns.
Only one thing: preferably non smokers, please.
See you soon ! A bientôt !
