Hi, we are based in Vernix on an old farm and are busy renovating a house and barns, our aim to offer a tranquil holiday / respite space for all but particulary for people who are coping with vulnerability. There is a lot to do, we welcome anyone who has enthusiasm to help out with the animals (chickens, pig, goat etc) and vegetable garden - we are aiming to be more self sufficient.

Do you have carpentry, building skills - we welcome you to help with pointing, rendering etc. Lots of small creative building projects to start and complete. We need help to build a cabin, all ready to go.

There is a lot of scope here to help create a nurturing space.

Aiming to be in our house this summer, we have comfortable caravan accommodation or you can pitch your tent over the summer. Bathroom and dry toilets and chill out area with kitchen and pool table.

Look forward to you staying here. Niki an Dom

Hi,
my name is Stephen and I live in a small village in a lovely rural part of France just 30 minutes south of Poitiers.
I am restoring my house which is over 200 years old, the restoration work is being sympathetically done, with that and the garden which needs work there is plenty to do. If you have any skills to help in these areas would be great but if not I'm sure your assistance would be helpful.

I would be pleased to have a French speaker as it would allow me to continue to learn the language, but everyone, no matter your language, is welcome.
I'm a pretty chilled guy and easy to get along with.

Priority work at the moment is my garden including building a stone wall (I've built half of it already)

Your room is the best room in the house (see photo) and apart from the double bed there is a sofa & coffee table.
I was a chef for a while so the food is pretty good, I provide 3 meals a day with a beer or wine with the evening meal, fresh coffee is always on tap or t... more inside

I would like to invite you to spend some time in this magnificent area in the foothills of the Pyrenees.
The mount 'Canigou' seems planted at the edg of my garden,2874 m above the sealevel and sacred for all Catalans.Looking on Prades as from a balkony,a pleasant house to live.
Every 23th of June 'la trobada' assembles Catalans from the north as from the south (Spain), a huge fire is made on top and brought down to multiples towns and villages where there's music and dancing celebrating summer solstice.
While staying at my place I'd love you to discover all this, easy and so cheap ( for 1 euro one way ride on bus or train) trough the whole department!
I will need trees to be cut and other cleaning up, having experience with a chainsaw is a plus!
Otherwise some gardening, mending the acces to the site, install an irrigation system(drip), vetg garden, little jobs on an around the house...
Accomodation in the house or tent, according to what's available.
I ask 5 ... more inside

On 2019, we host helpers from June to September.

We are retired teachers. We inherited a large family property with several buildings and a large field. We are nature lovers and we decided to create a park (arboretum) and we take care of it. We also produce organical vegetables and fruits, but we do not make breedings. We are not vegetarians, but we are very careful about the quality of our supplies : we are members of an AMAP, "voisins de panier" to buy local organic food to complete our production. Paul is also involved in a workshop of wood and a blog on the internet. Pascaline is interested in writing. We both play music and we work together a lot in the park. The house is large and well appointed and the last few years we do hosting also couchsurfers and bewelcomers. We really appreciate getting to know all kinds of people. Since spring 2012, we received more than sixty helpers! It was a real exchange : we helped those who wanted to learn French. If possible, we also help t... more inside

In March 2015, we moved from a Belgian city life to a smallholding in an idyllic area in the south-east of Burgundy, where we are keeping chickens, bees, sheep, producing organic vegetables and we're experimenting with growing our own cereals.

During the last couple of years, we renovated the house and received lots and lots of helping friends (and friends of friends) and we discovered that we love working with other people, whatever their skills are. Now the house has become cosy and liveable, our attention is moving outwards.

Anyone who is willing to help is more than welcome, especially if you like both outdoor work and to give a hand in the household as well.

You will arrive in a young family (two daughters –Madeleine and Toinette- and a baby boy Josquin) where we love to have fun, to be outside, to produce authentic food and to have a good glass of Burgundy wine with a nice conversation.

Accomodation is modest but good: you can sleep in a tent or in the barn, w... more inside
