We live in a beautiful and peaceful 30 acre smallholding, up the hill from Penzance, and overlooking St Michael's Mount. We have planted hundreds of trees, and are trying to provide a secure wildlife habitat. We have created a magical pathway through our woods and down past our stream, and this needs ongoing care. At this time of year, we need help with a variety of tasks, from strimming and brush cutting, to collecting and preparing firewood. The large garden is always in need of weeding and pruning. Cooking and cleaning are always a welcome addition, as a bit of contrast with the heavier work outside. We have a couple of bicycles for use if anyone is interested. Penzance is only a 25 minute walk, and a 10 minute cycle, mostly downhill! We live in a large house which is very spacious, and the accommodation is very comfortable.
We are currently looking for help during June. Please get in touch if you are a reasonably independent-spirited couple, energetic, and enjoy relaxing as we... more inside

We are 3 sisters looking for help with our sweet-tempered 101 year old mum, who was a sheep farmer & has always expressed a wish to die in her own home. We have a lovely nurse who comes in a lot but still need some help with nights & light daytime duties. The house, which is probably at latest eighteenth century & Cotswold stone, was renovated in 1967 & since then only running repairs, so it's like living in a time warp but there is an Aga cooker, A gardener deals with mowing & flower beds, but there is scope for Helpx to do some gardening too. We are in the very heart of the Cotswolds in a vibrant village & within bicycling reach of sports facilties.

We are an active semi-retired couple with a son and lodger who come and goes from work as they please. I am an active Helpxer in Europe but now for light duties only.

From about mid May we have a need for a man/woman for about a week who has working experience at decorating as we need ceilings throughout painted (with preparation work) and 2 rooms minor preparing and painting. We say mid May as being the earliest we can throw windows open for ventilation reliably.

I would estimate 10 to 14 days work involved.

The working day will be leisurely and dictated by the needs of the job - but probably no more than 4 a day and may be more or less - but we are relaxed about that. So 5 days on and weekend (or other days) free but catered for as you wish.

There is lots of spring cleaning and work at the allotment nearby- strimming, digging, tidying and such for a partner.

We have a single room in the house but have a summer room with futon bed for 2 with facilities in the house ... more inside

We are busy trying to complete two large house extensions and at the stage where we need help with some of the following jobs. Woodcutting, wood clippings shredded, gardening, strimming, painting and decorating, there are paths to lay, plumbing, tiling etc. Some can be paid work if you have skills to offer and we are open minded about length of stay.
We live in a quiet rural area just behind the centre of the village so, apart from the local pubs, there is no night life. We are happy to take you out with us if we go anywhere and there is a limited local bus service.
We produce a lot of our own vegetables and fruit and we keep chickens. We are not vegetarian although sometimes I cook vegetarian food. We have had quite a few helpers and we have all enjoyed the experience and the cultural exchange and we are still in touch with some of our helpers who became friends. We are probably looking for more mature helpers than students now but if you read this and feel you might suit what w... more inside

I own a large self contained unit within a co-housing community on the outskirts of Bradford on Avon. We own about 2.5 hectares of beautiful land, with orchard, swimming pool, tennis court and other amenities. Some of us have our own organic vegetable plots.

I would like one or two volunteers (non-smokers please) to help with a variety of jobs, mostly gardening work on my vegetable plot or other outside tasks, or sometimes helping with practical jobs indoors such as decorating or cleaning.

In exchange for accommodation and meals, I would like approx 4-5 hours' work per day, which can be organised flexibly according to our respective needs.

You will have your own comfortable bedroom (or shared with another Helpx volunteer, if agreed). There is plenty of good quality fresh food to which you can help yourself for breakfast and lunch, and a cooked meal in the evening. I am mostly vegetarian and can cater for other diets by arrangement.

I can offer some help with English i... more inside

We have just moved with our 4 small children, 4 dogs, 2 ponies, chickens etc to the most beautiful corner of English country side. We have bought a wonderful farm with stunning views over the valley, and we are only 20 minutes from the Jurassic coast line of south Dorset and Devon.
The farm had not been farmed for about 8 years so there is a lot to do to tidy it up and restore it. the good thing is that there are amazing wild flowers, beautiful woodland with streams as well as the valley and fields. it is a very inspiring place. We are desperate for some help both on the farm and in the home. Our 4 children are aged from 7-1 and so getting everyone including the animals up and ready in the mornings before school is quite a challenge. you would have your own double bedroom and bathroom, there is a TV, sitting area and desk. there is private entrance to your bedroom, but you would need to share our family kitchen. You would be welcome to join the family fr all meals if you l... more inside

We are a family run small-holding with pigs, sheep, and horses. We make our own sausages and bacon and run a small restaurant serving Sunday lunches and private parties. We also have self-catering cottages.

We're looking for people who would be willing to help us around the farm - feeding the animals and general maintenance - as well as helping in the kitchen, serving meals, and cleaning the cottages.

Accommodation would be in a single or twin room in the main farmhouse living with the family (we have 3 small children so it's a busy house!)

The farm is within walking distance of the pubs and shops in Ilfracombe. Surfing beaches in Woolacombe and Croyde are a 10 min drive away and Exmoor is on our doorstep.

Take a look at our Facebook page for photos.

Ilkley is a great place to explore the Yorkshire Dales from and is perfect for cycling and walking.

This is a family home in the middle of Ilkley West Yorkshire, a beautiful Sap town on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. We have a train station 5 minutes from our door and a wealth of coffee bars and restaurants. Leeds is a 25 minute train ride with easy access to the rest of the UK.

Accommodation will be in part of the cellar. There is a separate shower room and kitchen area there.

I am particularly keen to host anyone with carpentry skills as I am half way through a project an need someone who can help. Help with my allotment would also be an advantage.

The garden is situated in the picturesque village of Gissing on the Norfolk and Suffolk border approximately 20 miles south of the city of Norwich and 5 miles north of the market town of Diss. There are good rail and bus links to Norwich and London. Gabriel’s Garden is a small (approximately 2/3 acre) but quite literally ‘growing’ business, we specialize in growing a wide variety of flowers and foliage's renowned for their seasonality, fragrance and simple beauty to use in our onsite floristry studio.

We are looking for helpers to stay and help with a variety of jobs from February to November to help keep the garden growing: weeding and ground work, sowing, planting and at certain times harvesting. As a guide we aim for 5 hours work per day, 5 days a week. The aim and ethos of the business is to be as sustainable as possible, we don’t use chemical sprays as we want to encourage a natural biodiversity within the garden, which means the majority of the work is done by hand.
