Now taking helpers, through to September 2019

We are located 2 miles north of the popular ski and all year mountain resort of AVIEMORE, in the highlands of Scotland.

Our croft is about 1/2 an acre. We have the 2 bedroom house, an outside Summerhouse, small caravan (all for helper accommodation), a small wildlife pond, a recently finished greenhouse from reclaimed windows. At the end of the property there is a woodwork shop - garage, co existing with accommodation for 2 guests. Which we rent out for the summer months.

We are looking for an extra hand or two around our place. Helping with the day to day tasks, change overs in the guesthouse, tending the greenhouse and garden, child minding while we do it!, landscaping, splitting logs and stacking, building interesting structures! It's a broad range of work typically outside.

I (Alex) also travel to my family's hill farm to partake in general farm tasks. I also walk the Cairngorm Mountains tending my family's Herd of re... more inside

Great food and family environment with loads to do all the time!!

For e.g.in September I have a milling project that I would need two people to help carry wood that we mill from logs into boards and posts.

Or simply feeding them chickens and ducks. Lots of different tasks dialy to get on with.

Depending on skill level we would work out what we could do.

We offer board 2 people If you dont mind sharing a room. Double bed and a single.

We have had lots of helpers through work away and family and friends.

Lots of great food and super views walks and real country living.

I am based in the Norfolk countryside and I am setting up a small rural retreat. I am looking for like minded people who might like to come and stay for a couple of weeks to help with some of the finishing off of the accommodation and at the same time relax in the countryside and switch off with a slower more simpler way of life and of course music and great food too!!
Please note I am setting up a private retreat not a business so I am only offering food and bed and welcome!

The guest lodgings are up and are a mix of studios and shepherds huts, each one handmade and completely unique, there is a shared kitchen, woodburning stoves, indoor toilet and cleaning facilities.

Helpers duties may include some carpentry, general repairs, painting, clearing and gardening. We are only a 5 minute drive into a small market town which has direct train links to Norwich and London. I grow a lot of vegetables and herbs here in the garden and I am happy to cater for vegan, vegetarian and meat... more inside

*** Help needed in September and October - mainly gardening but possibly some home decoration and carpentry ***

We are a English/Australian couple who own a house with very small small-holding just outside Canterbury. We have 3 children, Josie (10), Hazel (8) and Greta (2). We have a very large garden that we are slowly turning into a small-holding. We have a vegetable garden, orchard, chickens and 2 cats.
We would love help with gardening, house decoration (painting, etc), landscaping, weeding and carpentry.
We can offer a bedroom in our lovely home, sharing the family bathroom. We also have an old caravan if you would prefer more privacy. We love travelling and really enjoy meeting people from all over the world. Our house has wifi and we can offer light breakfasts and lunches (DIY) as well as dinners. We are just outside of the beautiful cathedral city of Canterbury which is accessible by bus or car. Canterbury is also just 1 hour by train from London.

We live in the Chiltern Hills an area of 'Outstanding Natural Beauty' The area is one hour west of London but very rural. Nigel is a self employed countryside contractor and conservation adviser specialising in hedgerow management. He is a teacher of the traditional crafts of Hedgelaying and Scything. We have 100 sheep which graze on a local nature reserve. In exchange for accommodation, meals and sometimes a modest wage the helper would be taught a range of practical skills such as hedgelaying, fencing, planting and sheep work. amount of hours help is flexable. The work would be ideal for someone who doesn't mind working in all weathers and is physically fit. This is a great opportunity to learn practical rural skills. We live in a small village with a great local pub with easy public transport access to both London and Oxford.
