Who we are

We're a very active, young at heart couple of English early retirees who have converted a barn to a house, which we'd like some help to finish, renovating what will become a gite and taking control of the garden, which is a bit of a jungle at the moment. Never having had a garden in England, we're on a steep learning curve with our plot of 5000 square metres (just over an acre).
We're both keen cyclists, Nick especially loves doing cols in the Pyrenees and he keeps bonsai trees. Jackie enjoys sewing, patchwork, textile arts and most things crafty in what little spare time she has, teaches English and basic French and plays guitar. We're members of the local cycling and walking clubs and active members of the local community.
We grow lots of our own fruit and veg and consider ourselves good cooks.

Where we are

We live in the Gers, in south west France, surrounded by vineyards and 4km from a small town whose proudest boast is its motor racing circuit which has ev... more inside

OUR PROJECT = Rehabilitation of a old stone farmhouse in the forest/ working on our vegetable garden & creating water bassins

As a family we started to change our life style to a more responsible one ( re-use of materials, less waste, vegetarian food). We are learning continuously and like to share experiences and pass a message to our kids.

We are converting an old abandoned farmhouse into a sustainable living accommodation. We love to share our experience with people who would like to share their experiences with us in return.

Some of our kids are regularly wooffing in other parts of the world.

We live in the South of France between Provence and Ardèche area at the border of the "Cevennes" mountains/natural park area. A beautiful natural environment, but not isolated. We have two little goats, cats and chicken and a friendly dog called 'Noek'. There is lively family atmosphere with kids from 10 to 23 years old. Mixed culture (Dutch, French) and we all speak Eng... more inside

(Traduction en Francais en bas!)

-------

We are currently sowing seeds, planting, clearing fields, making garden beds, cutting wood, and doing other spring projects.
(March 2018)

AwRoooooooo!

We are a collective of people attempting to create a self-organised community in the mountains of the Tarn. We are currently working on living together, renovating an old house and other buildings, and making this new space liveable.

We organize non-hierarchically. We fight against patriarchy, all forms of oppression and illegitimate authority (though this is up for debate, e.g. our friends the chickens), and spend a lot of our time questioning why society is the way it is.

Fixing stuff, preserving and drying food, fermenting stuff, feeding animals, dumpster-diving, cooking communal meals, wild-foraging, repairing stuff, clearing paths, mortaring stone walls, climbing trees, cleaning everything, preparing the land for cultivating, juggling, playing music, collecting... more inside

We live in a big 16th century isolated house with approximately 4 hectares of land (mainly chestnut trees). The property is situated in the Cévennes area (about 60 kilometers north of Nîmes) near Lasalle. The people living here are Philippe (full time), Julie (part time, as she often works in Paris), quite often friends who stay with us for a few days, even up to a month, customers (we host personal development, yoga and group psychotherapy retreats), and of course wwoofers ; ) We tend to practice vipassana meditation on a daily basis, and we are musicians. We are (almost) self-sufficient in organic vegetables that we grow exclusively for our own use and we like to experiment with alternative and healthy foods like fermented products (making of tempeh, natto and lacto-fermented carrots). We are keen on welcoming mature independent and responsible volunteers for discovering and participating in our different activities, depending on the time of year: clearing brambles, weeding, picki... more inside

Helpers welcomed - couples, singles or friends - IMMEDIATELY and throughout the summer 2018.

Hi there, we are Helen and Phil (an English couple) and we're looking for lots of help with our on-going renovation and organic garden project near Lac de Lavaud on the Charente-Limousin border in France, 40 minutes west from Limoges.

We are looking for a couple of strong guys or girls (lol or one of each) to help us clear a site for a decked area, filling it with rubble (which we have on site) and marking out...in readiness for our little pool! We need this work done very soon.

There's loads of work to help us with now that spring is officially here. We need people who can happily spend some time helping Phil repointing ancient stonework with a lime/sand mix. There are logs to be cut and stacked and the barn needs to be cleared a bit ready for a new log pile....and maybe some pointing work and painting indoors if it rains.

I'm also trying my hand at organic veggie gardening ... more inside

Hello beautiful travellers, life lovers,

How are You in the power of Now?

Welcome here, I am Eleonore, ready to give birth soon and I would love to spend time and fun with beautiful human beeing, working here and there sometimes as well.

I live with 2 friends and a 7 years old child coming now and then.

The house has 5 rooms and 2 small outside areas but nature is just here, walking distance from our place ;-)

You might have your own room most of the time or sleeping in a tent sometimes if need be, if the weather is warm enough :-)

Let's find a happy deal for everyone, we won't necessarily have 4 hours of work a day to offer to You!

We like reiki, massage, yoga, meditation, biodanza, open heart workshops, non violent communication, team power, theater and many other life improvement activities.

We mainly eat biological food! We don't smoke or drink much alcohol. What about You?

Please discover my HelpX HELPERS profile, reviews and let me know you did, t... more inside

We are a family of four, two children aged 10 years old and 5 years old. We live in a beautiful situation in the Ariege mountains off grid, using solar electricity and spring water. We choose to live without many modern conveniences : no TV, and limited internet access... yes... a life like this is still possible!
We have a compost toilet and wood fired water for shower.

Helpers accommodation is a small separate straw bale hut (see photo below) with a double bed, wood stove, kitchen and running cold water. The toilet and shower are separate and communal. For a little privacy (for us and the helpers!), we can have shared meals every lunch time, and every second evening. We would provide three meals a day in return for 5 hours of work per day, with weekends free. We have 2000 metres of land with vegetable garden, orchard and fruit bushes. We keep chickens duck and rabbits for food and eggs, we also have donkeys for keeping the land cleared and a pet dog and cats.

The work woul... more inside

Looking for motivated people to help with barn restoration, forestry clearing, bringing back scrub to pasture and much much more. We are in the french Pyrenees in a beautiful area, we have everything you could ask for in leisure pursuits locally from rock and mountain climbing, to riding, water activities, walking, skiing, etc etc.
We have some sheep a sheep dog (she thinks)! two horses, a tractor, digger, chain saws etc etc.
Apart from people with practical skills we are looking for people who get a buzz out of working on the land and achieving a great days work and enjoying great food.

We have had probably 12-14 volunteers last year, we met some wonderful people who kindly left us 5 "excellent" feedbacks 5 'Very Good' and one "zero" (Don't quite know what happened here)!! Starting in January 2018 we are going to get the garden back into production (we didn't buy a vegetable last year), we have to do some building maintenance and some serious building on my old barn (1820) ... more inside
