Dear volunteer

Come join us tending our herbal gardens and bee hives to supply all kinds of medicine that nature can provide.

For the 2015 season our main objectives will be planting our second bigger garden that will enable large-scale production of herbs, and keep developing our beekeeping and all kinds of products from the hive.

Our hosting period goes from March through October, with a minimum stay of 3 weeks. We will be giving priority to longer-term volunteers, who can stay up to 3 months. Because we have limited space and high demand for hosting, the occasional ‘no-shows’ are a loss both for us and other prospective volunteers, so please only contact us if you are serious about coming.

We have no special program for volunteers, you will be working and living our daily routine. Generally work 8-hour days from Monday to Friday (weekends are free). During summer time, we normally work in shifts of early morning and late afternoon. You can expect strong sun and hot we... more inside

Old farmhouse in the south of Portugal. The farm is situated about 5km from Loule town. There is a bus to town or helpers can catch a ride to town with me. We have orange and lemon trees, fig trees, carob trees, almond trees on one hectare land.We need help in the garden and yard, plants cut down, weeding and trees pruned and trimmed etc.
Helpers can stay in their own little studio with a little back yard. Children are welcome. We have two very big friendly dogs.
I would prefer a short term helper for about a week.
Non smokers only.In addition to free accomodation I will be happy to cook a warm meal every day in exchange of about 4-5 hours work every day. We are in the middle of the country side, lovely walking areas and only about 20 car-min from the beach.

We are reconstructing an historical hamlet in a respectful and authentic way, using old techniques, biological materials and preserving as much of the original substance as possible.

The goal is to create a center for holistic healing.
(traditional Chinese Medicin, Ayurvedic Medicin, Osteopathie, Orthomolecular Medicin Psychotherapie, Yoga, Qi-Gong, Meditation, Shamanisme, Healing Rituals, Nutritional Medicin etc.)
Including rooms for seminars and workshops.

We also plan a permaculture garden, but for the moment the main focus is on the rebuilding of the stone houses.
Walter is a very experienced builder and reconstructor, and you can learn a lot by working with him.

- We ask : 5 hours work per day, 5 days a week, and participating in domestic tasks.

- We offer : purely vegan and mostly biological food
- a private little room for every working-guest (in a caravan or an old traditional portugese house )
- a living room and a kitchen for working guest's common use. ... more inside

Helpers Needed the Whole Year

We have a portuguese family run restaraunt offering typical portuguese food. Our clients are from around the world. We love having helpex helpers for their good fun and enthusiasm helping to make the restaraunt an even more friendly place. We offer a nice apartment with ensuite and 3 meals a day for 4-5hours work 6 days a week.

Our place is 10 mins walk to St Barbara which has a lot to offer though a village. The towns of Faro and Loule are 15 mins on bus or someone is usually going there in car for lift.

We are ideally looking for girls or 2 friends and the work would be a little of everything not skilled.

We very much hope to see you soon. Good luck with your travels.

Anybody want to help us stack wood last two weeks of september?

Hello, we are Alan & Carole. We moved to Portugal 6 years ago to live a healthier & less stressed life, and to live as best we can from running a smallholding, we need your help. We are in Castelo de Vide which is in the Sao Mamede natural park in the Alentejo region of Portugal, not far from the Spanish border. It is like stepping back in time here, women still wash clothes in communal washhouses and carry the washing home on their heads, men use horses and mules in the field. We have a small farmhouse in a valley with a stream running through it and about 8 acres of land, some usable, some just rocks.Although not strictly organic we use very little in the way of chemicals. We have a polytunnel,15 sheep and 9 lambs, will be getting more pigs, 2 rabbits and a cat! (and at the moment a calf whose mother rejected it). The list of work that needs doing is long and includes tidying the land and river, land preparation an... more inside

My name is Ingrid Maria and I live on my own on in the Serra de Acor close to Serra Estrela.

A few years ago I did a PDC at Coed Hills in Wales that changed my life! Not doing anything by halves I packed up shop and left for Portugal, this where my ancestors came from and my calling took me there, to live off the grid, study Permaculture and create a self sufficient self sustaining forest garden.

3 years down the line I have completed my PDC with Geoff Lawton, am building my own home and creating the food garden of my dreams! However; It is only me on nearly 2 hectares of land and it is proving to be hard and not as enjoyable as it should be when realising ones' dream. This is why I am now asking for others of like mind to come and join me on this venture.

I aim to become an example to all those around me.To lead by example. I intend to create a small Education Centre where others can come and learn how to apply Permaculture ethics in their lives. I am interested in nutritio... more inside

We are setting up a small-holding in a rural area in the beautiful Western Algarve.

Currently looking for help from a practical, easy going and positive person.

Accommodation will be in a very comfortable self-contained American RV so you will have your own space and privacy.

We are entirely off-grid but do have all mod-cons and wireless broadband. We just need to be careful with electrical consumption.

The right person would be welcome to stay long-term.

We have 2 horses, 4 dogs, 4 cats and chickens. We also foster dogs and puppies from the local dog sanctuary, they may need a lot of care if they are injured or very young.

I tend to take care of the animals day to day so mostly we need help with the projects around the place including painting, building rustic walls, shovelling dirt (fun!!), gardening, sanding, firewood, picking fruit/nuts when in season... Some of the work is quite hardcore (like shovelling) but these jobs can be mixed with more relaxing jobs!
