Eastwoodhill is the National Arboretum of New Zealand. We have the largest collection of temperate northern hemisphere trees in the southern hemisphere. The property is 131 hectares, with 13,500 trees-3,500 different species. This would be a great place for a horticultural student to get more experience and work with an interesting and varied collection. Volunteers will get the opportunity to make a contribution to ensuring the collection is maintained and helping to conserve rare tree species.

Child friendly helpful housemate/handyperson wanted in Sunny Gisborne
Must be a non smoker.
Ability to eat food that's provided a must!
Please contact via phone/text first as I'm not online much.

We are a busy family of six, with four small children all under 6 years - and we would like someone who can retain a sense of humour in occasionally stressful though often humourous (especially in retrospect) situations.

We live in Gisborne rurally on a small 1ha lemon, mandarin and feijoa orchard within cycling distance to town (flat)(approx 9km). (Bicycle and helmet provided).

We are looking for a practically minded, hard working, person/couple who is happy to take the initiative to make sure things get done about the house/orchard as it can get very busy.

Importantly, as part of living in the house, you will be asked to complete general household chores and assist with child wrangling/meal prep/cleaning at mad times.

We would like someone who is happy with living ... more inside

INTRODUCTION
We have a 1000 acre farm and may need help with weed control, gardening, building projects, animal care, work with sheep and cattle and jobs around the house and garden. Jobs on the farm vary at different times of year.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Our farm is located 30 minutes north of Gisborne. It is a mixture of steep hill country and flat land. We farm sheep and cows for meat and wool, but have a range of other animals including working dogs, horses, pigs, chickens and pets.
We have a tennis court for any keen to play.
Also we have a boat and often take volunteers out fishing to reward them for their hard work.

Ideally we would like to find workers with practical experience in building, agriculture, gardening or animal care and who are not afraid of hard work.

Accomodation will be in our farm cottage, located 150 meters from the main house. It has all the facilities you will need. Kitchen, bathroom, washing machine, double and single rooms, plus extras such as... more inside

I have a cattery with Maine Coons and Bengals.
I need help with grooming and socializing kittens and cats. My cats are not caged and fed mainly on a raw meat diet, which means also cutting up meat and offal.

We also have Beardie sheepdogs who appreciate long walks on the beach or running up and down the hills on the farm.

Further there is work in the garden like weeding and on rainy days we will clean and tidy up the house or do some arts and craft projects.

We do appreciate conversation and exchanging ideas with our guests rather than seeing them glued to their smartphones all the time.

Help and assistance with park development and other fund raising activities. 8 years of ecological studies by students from The University of Newhamshire USA in association with Ecoquest of New Zealand are ongoing. Funding for development has been slow so my wishes now is to push on with conservation work which is sorely needed. Also a small cottage industry is being developed to help fund the park. Help in that area would be greatly appreciated as well. For further information you can check my website link above. Looking forward to being a part of your stay in NZ.
