My partner and I enjoy meeting people from around the globe. We offer a comfy home to stay in with us, just five minutes walk to the township of Akaroa if you wish to work. We have quite a lot of land so need help in the garden, cutting wood, painting, and general maintenance on our properties.
Anyone is welcome and all we require is help on our farm. If you can find your way to beautiful Akaroa we can do the rest! We would love to meet you.

Kia Ora.
We love sharing our paradise on a privately owned wildlife reserve with helpers from all over the world. It gives us the chance of virtual travel, learning from the wonderful people who temporarily share our valley.

Most of the help we need throughout the year is to maintain our gardens and orchards around the homestead. We operate sustainably which requires intensive labour and results in healthy food to share.

If you can help, we can offer accommodation in our rustic self-contained cabin. We can supply some homegrown food, however, you will need to be prepared to provide most of your own meals.

We are kiwis who have a passion for the natural environment, creative activities and sharing with people. We can share the flora and fauna of Banks Peninsula, fresh eggs, seasonal fruit and vegetables, and choices of walking tracks through native bush on Banks Peninsula`s "wildside".

The people we would like to share this place with will be nature lovers, especially t... more inside

**We are currently looking for a couple who would be able to watch over the farm whilst we travel overseas to visit family, from 25 May to 2 July. You would be living in our 3 bedroom / 2 bathroom guesthouse which is normally rented as accommodation and just making sure the dogs, chickens, sheep and garden are all looked after. It's really easy and pleasurable work in a pristine part of New Zealand that many may miss (Banks Peninsula) because it's slightly out of the normal travel paths. Walking & feeding the dogs, keeping the chickens fed and watered, collecting chicken eggs, and the occasional counting of (and feeding treats to) the sheep are the main chores. Some light gardening and mowing may need to be done depending on how the season is treating us.

You would have two bikes and two stand up paddle boards at your disposal. The river is very tidal and leads into the surf at the beach, making for fun SUP adventures.**

Hi, we live in beautiful Diamond Harbour, a seaside village about 30km from Christchurch City. It's quiet and peaceful here. You can get into the city by ferry and bus, or drive around through the picturesque bays. The closest supermarket and pharmacy is in Lyttelton (35 mins drive or 10 min ferry ride), but there is a convenience store 2 minutes walk from us which has quite a good selection of groceries.
We are looking for someone to help us out at the moment while we are very busy at work. You will be home alone for a lot of the time. We require 4 hours of help per day per person in exchange for full board including all meals. Duties involve helping in the garden with weeding and getting vege garden ready for planting, mowing the lawn, feeding all the animals, walking the dog(s), doing some housework and making the evening meal. If you have an interest for bigger jobs like building, digging, painting then let us know, we have a few projects!
We love to eat healthy meals and a... more inside

Couple in our 60's, just ourselves now our two sons are making their way in the world. We are flower farmers with a strong conservation interest who have a garden, fruit trees and make our own wine from a small vineyard. Work mainly involves farm tasks like flower picking, firewood gathering and vineyard maintenance. We are specially looking for help in our busy flower picking season from October to December .

Good accommodation and as much good food as you can eat. Amateur cooks welcomed. No experience needed, just people who can get stuck in, do a good day's work and enjoy a few laughs. Some days are longer and can be a bit harder but we try to compensate with some extra time off. Lots of friends made over fourteen years as hosts. Google Akaroa for local info.

I'll add to this later. But for now the key points are:

I am a single person hoping to work on a number of projects on my place over the next few years. I live off grid. There is no house phone or internet but cell phone coverage is good for one network at the the house so you can bring your own. I have 2 cats.

I am an unusual person, so may not be to everyones taste, please ask questions.

My place is remote, mostly regenerating native bush with some forest.

Projects that I want help with:

1) Housework. My house is a shambles, it needs organising.

2) Garden making. I hope to construct some organic vegetable gardens. So far I have only one small patch that has been dug, and a short stone wall. Digging new garden is hard work, the soil is volcanic and stones need to be removed and added to the stone walls.

3) Firewood. This takes much carrying to get it to the house.

4) Hydro power. I want to build a tiny hydro power generator to provide power in Winter. Water ... more inside

We live on a well established rural property, nestled among native bush, an orchard and walnut trees. Quail feed on the lawn each morning and native wood pigeon & bell birds live in the trees. A stream runs through the center of our property, that is home to the long fin eel and trout during spawning season. Our home is surrounded by farm country where sheep and cattle, donkeys, pigs, ducks, geese and alpacas are common sightings within 1 km.We have 4 chicken and 2 cats.
We grow our own vegetables organically. I make my own bread and love learning from others different recipes.Kim roast his own coffee and makes a cup better than most cafe's.
.. volunteers work for 4 hours a day for food and accommodation.6 days a week .There is a variety of work including, picking peony flowers, weeding , making tracks through native bush, inside carpentry and sewing costumes for a drama production.

Interested in building with recycled materials and organic gardening? Handy? Strong? Nestled in sunny Diamond Harbour you 'll find the Gardeners Cottage. You are invited to assist with transforming this overgrown property into a semi rural haven with perma culture principles. Building with recycled materials, seeding, planting, weeding, pruning, landscaping and painting, its all in a days work. It's quiet and peaceful here. You need to be self-sufficient as there is not much entertainment apart from walking, tramping, reading, cafes, library with internet, ferry ride to Lyttleton etc.

Food is mostly vegetarian and we welcome people who eat vegan and/or gluten free but all tastes are catered for. You will help with food preparation and do clean up as part of living together.

Please indicate in your message that you are happy to work 5 hours per day, can be flexible i.e. have a day off and work more another day.We usually start with 2-3 days and then may extend if everybody is ... more inside
