WE ARE NOT HOSTING THIS SUMMER,DUE TO COVID-19. GET IN TOUCH IF YOU ARE PLANNING FURTHER AHEAD.

Non-smokers only. Please read our profile before making contact.

We are in a very rural location, with no near neighbours or towns. Bear in mind that you could find this boring! You must be able to entertain yourself (reading, music, DVDs, walking) when we are busy. Our nearest city is Exeter (40km). We live within reach of North or South Devon coasts, Exmoor or Dartmoor Parks by bus or train, or car. We may be able to lend a bicycle, but it is very hilly here!

We are looking for friendly, easy-going solo helpers, normally for a stay of 7 days/8 nights. We would like you to help for 4-5 hours per day (up to 25 hours per week) with 2 days free per week - gardening, cutting grass, clearing branches, spring-cleaning. In return, you will have:

- Small bedroom (4.5m2),or another larger single room - when available;
- All meals (veggie or meat-eaters)
- Variable mobile phone si... more inside

We live on a smallholding in England, close to the Welsh border. We grow vegetables and fruit, keep chickens and are creating a garden. My husband is retired and slightly disabled so the work involved is too much for us.

We would like some help for 2 or 3 weeks around 21st September to 11th October. The work would include fruit and vegetable growing, land clearing, looking after the hens, gardening, landscaping, diy and/or with housework. We would also be pleased to hear from anybody with the skills needed to renovate an old static caravan who is available any time this year.

Your accommodation would be our little summerhouse which has mains electricity and wifi. It has a single bed with a second pullout single bed underneath. There is an armchair, table/desk etc but when the second bed is pulled out there is not a lot of floor space. The shower and toilet and basic cooking facilities are available in a nearby portacabin. This year we are not providing food but are instead off... more inside

We are a family with three children aged 11, 5 and 3 year old. We live in a small cottage within an intentional community (with approx 40 other adults and children) based in a beautiful old estate with mansion house, gardens and woodlands.
Ollie is a school counsellor and mindfulness teacher and Annie is a medical herbalist and massage therapist. We home educate our children, however Lumi goes to a forest school 2 days a week.
We love living in community and enjoy gardening, singing, meditation and yoga. Life here is often busy and can be noisy and chaotic! However, we do have regular meals and bedtimes. We would love help with cleaning, childcare, of gardening and odd jobs around the house. We enjoy meeting new people and sharing the beautiful land we live on. We are mostly vegetarian and enjoy cooking organic healthy wholefood meals using fresh vegetables from the garden.
There is no public transport to the local town, however it is about a 25 minute w... more inside

Note: I also need someone to index and categorise a lot of articles which I will be using as reference material for a book Iím writing (see `web 3` link).

We have a large garden and are (almost) self-sufficient in vegetables. We have been growing produce for ourselves, with a small excess for sale outside our house, for the past 25 years. We also have fruit trees and established flower borders and 8 chickens.

As well as gardening, chopping wood, housework and cooking, we also need help with general maintenance, carpentry and some electrical work. It would also be good to have someone who is experienced with 2 stroke engine maintenance.

For 2020 we have a major digging job - removing a large amount of bamboo, This is heavy work and might suit a couple, or 2 men coming here together.

We are located in the beautiful village of Abbotsbury, in West Dorset, southern England, with views of the sea (20 minutes walk away).

Taking helpers March - September 2020

We, Mike 70, John 81, Peter 63 and Porage (the cat) 12, have been here for five years. The house is an old English farmhouse with nice neighbours and buses to local towns, train direct to London. We go to the gym at least three times a week, and Mike and Peter like walking and running.
We need someone to help edit a book, REDESIGN THE GARDEN, cut the grass, prune trees, make a water feature, and dig, dig, dig. John is interested in interior decoration - stencilling and colour washing etc. Some of the gardening/construction is heavy work.

We are on the main line to London. The local gym has a good swimming pool. The walking scenery is excellent - Mike likes walking and running, and Peter goes swimming several times a week. We do not provide a computer for you to use, but we use WIFI all the time. The village library has computers for internet access free anyway.

You will have your own room. We don't have formal work schedules. We expect ... more inside
