Would welcome help for a week maximum or even a few days in exchange for own accommodation in separate cottage - very comfortable, and food.

The farm is surrounded by bog land in the Bann valley. The river is 3 miles away.

We have 9 cows, 3 calves, chickens, a big dog named Bruce, a pup named Charlie and a strange cat.

We recently completed a polytunnel made out of broken trampolines, an underground greenhouse and a natural pond. We have lots of veg in the ground, a small orchard, a woodland and lots of wild foods to forage.

This year we hope to grow enough produce to feed ourselves and to sell to the local community.

Accommodation will be in a large tent, using the house bathroom. We can provide sleeping bags and lots of extra blankets to keep your warm.

We always need help with; farm duties, permaculture gardening, woodland management, weeding, cutting firewood, sowing seeds, cooking, food preserving, seed saving, sea weed foraging on the beautiful north coast, wood carving and creating wood sculptures.

Current projects we need help with are:

building more polytunnels
building volunteer / vis... more inside

The main jobs will be inside work such as laundry, cleaning the house, cooking, shopping and looking after our animals (1 dog and 9 cats). There will be weeding and grass cutting in the garden and maybe some painting inside or outside, depending on the weather. You will work a maximum of 4 hours per day with 2 days off each week. You might also be required to help out in our business (a local gift shop). I only require someone for approx 2 weeks.

Single room in our house with a shared bathroom and kitchen. Rural village on a bus route between two larger towns (one of which has a train station).

You must have your own insurance and be able to provide references.

Two possible sites. One is in Whitehead (20 miles NE of Belfast), the other is located in Islandmagee, 10 miles North of Whitehead.
The Whitehead property is an old (1700s) stone terrace house overlooking the sea which I have been renovating. There are still lots of DIY type jobs to be done. Whitehead is a quiet seaside town with coastal walks, 2 golf courses, a yacht club and is the centre for the (steam) Railway Preservation Society of Ireland.
It has good rail & bus services and is a good base for visiting the famous Antrim Coast Road.
Islandmagee os more rural. The property is an old pre-fab which I would like to clad in straw-bales. I need help with site ground-works. It is beside a popular beach known as Browns Bay.

We have 12 acres of ancient hardwood woodland and a small field where we are establishing organic vegetable growing.
