In the little village of Serbonnes, next to Sens, 100km away from Paris (direction South-East)I'm restoring the castle of Grand-Varennes and its Grounds.
As I've been working for a year, much has already been done.
The second floor remains to be done, it will be the floor dedicated to guests. We shall create 4 en-suite bedrooms, and an open-plan kitchen / living-room. Work to be done is electricity, plumbing, partitioning, skimming, painting ...
The park has been prepared to be turned into a permaculture ground. From the late winter, we shall begin with designing and planting vegetables and fruit trees.Work to be done is ... gardening !
I'm French, 52 years old, in a long term relationship with my partner who lives in ... California. I speak English, Italian, English and French.
The castle has all the modern comfort, there are five double bedrooms dedicated to helpers.

Ross and I (two English speaking Canadians) have been taking care of an elderly couple with Alzheimers, and now they have passed away. We are busy building our dream of a bike lodge here in South West France. I am a visual artist and specialize in monumental welded steel sculpture. Ross is an amazing musician and is very eclectic, and is also doing most of the construction renovation work on his own! He needs help!
The property we live on is big and contains 36 fruit trees, a small forest that was recently thinned out. The fruit trees are all organic and need pruning, and picking of fruit in the right season.
We are building a super exciting bike lodge and need people with strong hands and skills! We need help with the renovation with work such as tiling, painting, building shelves, and waterproofing. Soon a new sewage link will be put in and there will be landscaping work to be accomplished as well. There is tons of detail work to do indoors if it rains, and many things to do ou... more inside

Update (Nov 2019)
We are looking for a couple of enthusiastic helpers who would be happy to help us in our organic fruit and veg garden, the other gardens and also other jobs around the place including gite/yurt changeovers, looking after customers, helping to prepare meals and tidy up in the house and generally just living as part of our family.

There are always projects on the go that you can get involved with also including tree planting, building a puddled pond, building a cob bread oven, renovating an old pigeon tower and flooring a cart shed to make it suitable for group yoga,it will be a really busy crazy time but should be fun as well.

Please see our website and Facebook page for more information on what we are about and get in contact if you are interested.

In return for all of your hard work you can expect to have some great evenings around the camp fire chatting or playing music and enjoying great food and the odd glass of local wine. There will also be oppo... more inside

We prefer to host couples or two female helpers

Hi,
We, Eric and Caroline are a Dutch couple (42 and 47) that moved to France in 2010 to start a small hotel-restaurant-bar in a beautiful mountainous/volcanic area in the middle of France.

This is outdoor-country with lots of walking and cycling trails, fishing, parapenting, etc. etc. In the winter there is a large ski area at 15 minutes drive (Superbesse).

Our hotel has a homely atmosphere with 4 rooms and we have a restaurant with local specialties, bar, garden and terrace. We do most of the work ourselves. Caroline is the main cook and laundry lady and Eric does most of the maintenance, admin, marketing, construction work, waitering, bar tendering, shopping. Cleaning is our joined task.

July/August are the bus... more inside

Immerse yourself in rural France... we are off the beaten track in the southern Loire Valley, near the historic town of Ligueil. Our 15th century house is at the heart of a very small medieval village. We have a local store with a bar, but that`s it! Bigger shops and restaurants can be found in Loches (about 20 mins away by car). From Paris the nearest mainline railway station is in Tours. There is also an international Airport at Tours (serviced by RyanAir). The bus which will deliver you to our village leaves from the centre of Tours and takes an hour to get here.

We are not wealthy people, just very fortunate to find such a special place to live. And we are committed to ensuring this ancient building is in good repair so it lasts another 600 years. We mostly do the work ourselves, and we run a part-time `bed and breakfast` business to help pay the bills (open from May to October). Like all old buildings there is always something to be done, so we could do with some assistance... more inside
