We are offering a free month in our private Cozy Cabin on Hornby Island, BC, in exchange for putting a new roof on it (estimated to be 4-5 days of work). Supplies will be provided, building experience required!

Snuggled deep within the heart of Hornby Island BC's whispering fern filled forests, close to the creek and the mantra of rushing water, lies our sanctuary. A simple refuge for heart and spirit, we offer the opportunity to be in retreat. The space is held for meditative inquiry, yoga practice, healing, rest, celebration of aliveness and solitude. There is a yurt temple that is open for individual practice when you are staying on the land.

We are 10 minutes from Vancouver Island, and invite energetic couples to join us as Helpers in the fall of 2018. Non-smokers only.

You will have accommodation in our private, detached guesthouse, backing onto forest and 400 feet from our house. The guesthouse is modern and fully equipped, so you will supply & prepare your own food in your own kitchen.

We ask 4 hours work per person day.

This is an oceanfront home (Tide Cottage) with large, modern guesthouse (Timmerhouse), located on Denman Island/Baynes Sound. The guesthouse is about 400 feet from our home, giving privacy. We have approximately 1 acre cleared, with a large vegetable garden and small orchard. The remaining 12+ acres is forested, from Timmerhouse inland. There is a creek crossing the property, via a 10-minute walk through the Douglas fir forest. Helpers will have the guesthouse to themselves, including wood-burning fireplace, full kitchen, upstairs deck, and a large patio, with barbecue, off the main floor.... more inside

Just walk down the stairs and you're on the water. Kids are here about 60% of the time, 5, 8, 10. Otherwise just me here. I'm 50 and active and easy to be around.
I need help with various things. Firewood cutting and stacking. I have a gas splitter but need it cut and stacked. Build a wood shed or 2. Some drywall needs to be removed from another room in cabin and some repairs. Fencing to be done. We are a family homestead and educational site for cultural and ecological regeneration.

Yearning for a life aligned with the earth, we stepped out of mainstream society and into the forest to re-learn what it means to live in harmony with each other and the land.

Our vision is to live in balance with the earth, and at peace with ourselves and each other.

Our primary goal is to learn how to live with the land in ways that provide for our needs while increasing the health, resilience and function of the surrounding ecosystem and human community.

Our secondary goal is to facilitate, educate, and empower people to create resilient relocalization and cultural and ecological regeneration in their own lives and communities.

Our practices include permaculture design, 8shields, regenerative agriculture, keyline design, agriforestry, holistic management, the soil food web, ecosystem based conservation planning and a whole bunch of trial and error.

We are a large family of nine, living on 14 acres on pender island. We are into organic gardening, family time, hikes, going to the beach.

We always need help around the acreage, and in the vegetable gardens.

We are currently renovating our main house and looking for help in a few areas such as finishing the deck, property cleanup, stripping drywall and insulation out of our shop and maybe a few other small things here and there.

We are looking for one-two people who have some know how of basic carpentry for building the deck and are willing to do some property work. We would offer a tiny house as accommodation which we normally rent out for around $100 per night. This includes bed, living room, kitchen, bathroom and deck with barbecue. We would be looking for about 4 hours of work per day. We are a 40 minute ferry to vancouver island, and 2.5hrs to vancouver.

Helpers Needed 2019!

It is winter and I have been bringing sawlogs home to mill the timbers to complete the building of a Timber-Frame greenhouse and carport. I could really use the assistance of anybody who is interested in learning how to saw logs and build.
I have both gardening and silviculture jobs such as tree pruning and brushing both here on the home property but also on the Woodlot. I am looking for Helpers who are keen to learn new skills and desire to experience coastal life in British Columbia. Quadra Island is a wonderful location for finding the "Island Life", we are a friendly community and welcome visitors. We have a well developed hiking and mtn. biking trail system as well many first class Parks. Salmon and fresh water fishing for trout and digging clams and picking oysters off of the beaches are favourite activities.
Big Tree Farm includes the 10 ha of forested Woodlot with gardens, fruit trees, berries, milk cow, calf, heifer, a Vietnamese pet pig, chicken... more inside

We are two families on one aspiring farm, with 5 kids ages 9 months to 6 yrs, and their adults and pets. We are getting ready for chickens, expanding our gardens, and preparing to reopen our holiday rentals.

Our kids are at an age of exploring and learning, and would love to take an adult friend to the beaches and trails for adventures and fun, and to sit cosy reading and making art. We also can use help building infrastructure, landscaping and gardening, wherever your expertise and preferences lie. Our 7 acre property has a large garden, orchard and pond, with tonnes of potential for more!

We have two friendly dogs, 2 cats, and plenty of wildlife in the surrounding forests.
Our property is in the "busy" south end of our little island of 900 residents, within walking distance of numerous beautiful beaches, the local "downtown", and Hollyhock retreat centre.
We have listings on Airbnb and booking.com for summer holiday rentals, as we move out onto the land in the summer mo... more inside
