My name is Madani, I live in M'hamid El Ghizlane in the Draa Valley, the last village before the Sahara. 6 years ago I build this farm where I try to grow vegetables despite salted water and low resources.
I am a nomad who has had to settle because of the drought, I know about camels, not agriculture. I want to set an example for the people of the village and encourage them to do the same, to show them that this is possible and that they're not forced to leave M'hamid because of lack of work. Unfortunately I do not get to be independent in my farm for lack of experience certainly, but also because of the weather conditions and salt water.
This page was created to encourage people of any nationality interested in desert farming to come and help me participating in my project.
But as I said I still can not produce enough to make a real woofing so I request participation for meals, 60 drh (6 euros) per day per person and 3 hours (15 hours per week) . This money is ... more inside

I am a 49-year old Scot and my wife, 40, is from Argentina. I am a jack-of-all-trades and have been many things in life, from soldier to TV presenter. I met my love in Ibiza where she had settled temporarily. We were both big travellers before meeting one another and still are, although there's less time for such things now. We have two very young children.

For some years now we've been building an eco-lodge in Morocco with our fisherman and farmer neighbours, just 15kms north of Essaouira on the Atlantic Coast.

The Eco-Lodge lies between Azrou Issa and Al Faida, two small fishing and farming communities. Life is hard here and with less and less rain, and fewer fish in the ocean, it's getting harder. Many families have already left the land and gone to live in the town. There are almost 40 small families left, farming approx 100 hectares between them and grazing their goats, sheep and cows in the huge forest behind. The land does not produce enough and the forest is bein... more inside

Welcome to the Sahara! My name is M'bark. I'm building an ecologic bivouac in desert and I want to turn green all around. I'm inside the desert, near M'hamid.
My family was living in nomad way thru the desert, but we had to stop because of the dryness.
Today I'm back on this land with many plans!
I'm building a bivouac at Erg Lihoudi, it's a dune near M'hamid. There's a well in this place. There's a well in this place. There are already some tents and accommodation (showers and toilets). I want to welcome people to help me , to share this way of life, in desert. I'll be happy to show you about my saharawi and berbercultur. It's a perfect place to rest, to meditation or yoga, to be creative, to take photos, to walk. It's also a departure for camel trekking through the dunes. The nights we can enjoy the stars around a campfire and play music. So bring your instruments!
About your help: - we will make clay and earth bricks in order to build little cottages.
- The tents and the biv... more inside

My name is Aziz, I'm 36 years old, and have been a farmer for over 25 years in Morocco. I'm beginning the switch from conventional farming to organic farming, looking to begin to sustainably harvest my crops of sugar beets, wheat, beans, olive trees, grass for the animals, and some other vegetables. I have a 3 hectare farm myself, however there are amble opportunities to work with other farmers in the community looking to begin organic agriculture. I speak Arabic, English, French fluently and small amounts of Spanish / German. I have 10 years of experience working with the Peace Corps and international volunteer programs. I've also spent three years traveling here in Africa to other countries in Europe to see other cultures.

My transition to organic farming is in the beginning stages. The first step is rebuilding the soil, therefore I'm looking for volunteers with experience in compost making (hot compost, cold compost, etc). Or, people who are willing to do the research to start... more inside

1 hour and a half from Ouarzazate, 30 minutes from Boulmane du Dades, in the Jebel Sahro area. Famous trekking destination. Work would be in the garden (navet, potatoes, wheat, barley), with the village association (cleaning the village, maintaining 4x4 pistes, irrigation channels).

Languages spoken: the locals speak Moroccan Arabic and Tamazight, I speak French, a bit of English and Spanish.
