Our main project is the reforestation of 70 acres of severely eroded land. We are working to re-create the Tropical Dry Evergreen Forest indigenous to our area. This forest type is found only in Southern India and Sri Lanka and provides a rare biological richness due to its very high species abundance (over 1000 species of trees, shrubbery and liana). The Tropical Dry Evergreen Forest is now close to total extinction as only 0.01% survives. This is a last moment effort to keep this very rich and beautiful forest on earth. As part of our reforestation effort we are also working on water conservation and soil management.

Our projects include the work with local children, hosting many groups of people interested in conservation, the UniverCity of Compassion and an animal sanctuary where we care for rescued animals.

We practice an eco-friendly way of life including veganism, alternative construction, solar energy, biodegradable toiletries, and compost toilets.

Hello everybody!
My name is Om. I am a lover of nature and my village located near Khirsu, Uttarakhand, India.
I am in my mid 30s, and want to make a difference in my local area.
So we started with my family and the help of friends a project which link eco-tourism including eco-construction as accommodation, natural place for relaxing and big eco-park where we planting differents varrity of trees to enjoy a meditative walk for example.
In this project I would like to involve volunteers on purpose to bring international ideas and show to my local friends new way of doing.
Many people have migrated out of the countryside and now we are left with a lack of workers to tend our traditional lands.
Welcoming volunteers would help to get our dream done and show to the people that the life is more pleasant in the countryside, not in the city.
Help with the project would be primarily creating a (meditation) garden, planting, help with guiding adventure activities for tourists, interac... more inside

This is a small non-formal school for street kids who live in or around Sealdah Train Station in Kolkata, India. We have 7 students, ages 10-16. Our students educational backgrounds vary with a majority having no formal education whatsoever, many cannot read, write or do basic math. These children are the poorest of the poor but the richest of the rich in their hearts and they are a joy to be around.

Each student has their own individual iPad with educational games that teach skills ranging from learning the alphabet, numbers, and basic maths/sciences.

The goal of our classroom is to provide our students with the exposure and opportunity to learn what they want and when they want. The classroom is open Tuesday thru Friday from 10:30-4:30pm. We provide the students with a comfortable classroom environment, lunches, and compassionate people so that their learning environment is conducive to each child's individual needs.

We ask our volunteers to be compassionate, patient,... more inside

Volunteer at our monkey sanctuary in Goa

Volunteers needed all year round.

This is an Indian based charity that was founded by Jo and John Hicks who have been at the forefront of animal welfare for over 40 years. At their home in the village of Camurlim, Goa (near Mapusa) they care for over 40 rescued Langur and Macaque monkeys along with numerous cats and dogs.

Volunteering with us offers the unique opportunity to learn about primates. It is a rare hands on chance to work with rescued primates and get to know your not so distant relatives first hand. As well as getting to know them and learning to understand their handling, feeding and care you will also get an insight into a completely different life, that of rural India.

Although Goa is one of the richer states with less poverty than others, it is still an eye opener to real life in this developing country and something that no one on a package holiday will even glimpse. You may think the accommodation is basic, but m... more inside

In 2009 my husband and I opened an English Medium school for village children in our area. Ours is a tribal area, and all inhabitants rely on agriculture as their means of support. The region is very poor. Currently we have over 200 children enrolled in our school, from Lower Kindergarten to class 8.

Our children have all come from schools where the teaching methods are very poor, and so they need a great deal of support and innovation in teaching methods to help them catch up.

We are in need of volunteers, who are passionate about teaching and who have a desire to help our children reach their full potential. We encourage volunteers to come for long term placements, but we are willing to accept people for shorter stays as well (1 month minimum). We welcome people with a host of skills from fundraising, building experience, to teaching.
These are some of the duties you may find yourself doing, depending on your interests.
1. Full time teaching (for long term of 3 month... more inside

UPDATE - JUNE 2019 - Workshop!

Join us near Andra village, Andhra Pradesh, from June 16-22 to learn how to design a natural fishpond using permaculture principles. We want to have around as many people as possible!

In the second phase of transforming this commercial rice field to wetland, you will learn the types of species to plant, how to plant them, and learn about designing for biodiversity.

Wetlands are significant for a number of reasons including:
- mitigate polluted water
- balance high nitrogen and phosphorus content in soil or water
- create diversity for a more resilient permaculture system

We’ll be planting as many species that can be found locally as possible.

Every year we are planning ahead for the next one!

Hello dear people, we still have a place for one volunteer starting in June 2019, so send us a message!

Every child has the right to grow up in a safe environment. Unfortunately in India that's not always the case, especially when one is differently abled. Many children who are disabled in India end up on the streets and they have to beg for money to survive.
But our residential school is à wonderful home for children with special needs in India. Here there is enough space for 25 children. At the moment there are 20 children, but this can change any day, as more people learn from the existence, more children are applying. We have a new place. And is very green, has a beautiful garden where the kids can play and there will be a vegetable garden in the future, so they can produce their own vegetables. The children follow a daily schedule, which includes, teaching ( very basic), music, yoga, crafts and playing.
There are 2 local teachers working together with Maartje from The Net... more inside

** Looking for Help in this beautiful off season time in Goa :)! June, July onwards .
Hello my name is Deeksha, I am an Architect and have been in the field for over thirty years. I grew tired of building concrete structures for corporate companies and felt I needed to put up something that is more eco-friendly and something that's more suited to my personality so I started this project.

We have an Eco Stay/ Health Cafe/Art gallery and a Workshop space. My idea is to integrate a more natural harmonious form of living into the space and provide a service to the less wealthy travelers who are looking to meet interesting people and learn a variety of things including organic farming, yoga, sustainable building, water conservation, pottery etc.

We are looking for help right now mainly in our Cafe and our Organic Garden. Our volunteer help us for 25 hours a week in exchange for accommodation in our volunteer dormitory and 3 simple healthy vegetarian meals a day and Tea! W... more inside

We are located in Vrindavan-Uttar pradesh (India) is an Eco-yoga village and it is also an Ashram that is part of a network of 67 eco-villages worldwide. It's not an organic farm but rather It's a spiritual ashram (temple) that has the joy and the intention of amplifying our mind´s and heart's capacity.

Our ashram is more than 350 years old and was built by a queen from Manipur, a state in India above Bengal. We invite you to be part of our volunteer team. The ashram was started by our spiritual guide, Swami Paramadvaiti, who has founded the network of eco-yoga ashrams worldwide, especially in South America. The residents at Vrinda Kunja are predominantly Spanish speaking people.
