Welcoming helpers for Autumn 2019

Our home is located in the quite isolated countryside of La Creuse, the greenest region of France.

We have a very cozy old farm-house that has been renovated and offers simple comfort for all seasons (wood stove heating, heated bathroom, hot water, etc). There are also two large barns in good shape. In our land, we have an expanding biodynamic vegetable garden, a marvellous greenhouse, a beautiful leisure garden, a young oak grove, a chicken coop with 6 hens, green pasture for our 6 sheep.

We practice organic cultivation and care of everything on the land. We bought the property three years ago and have much to do, so if you have the skills and motivation to do some work in good company and a relaxed atmosphere, you are welcome to come and stay for a while!

The work we need help with is varied, such as:

- building: continuous improvements and repairs on various outdoor buildings, fencing
- gardening: our vegetable garden is growi... more inside

I am 60 years old and I decided some years ago to move from the city (Bordeaux) to the pine forest on the way to the ocean....
i'm renovating an old farm using as possible an ecologic way of doing (lime with hemp for the walls), i'm doing the more i can by myself and my son (27 years) help me when he is not working on his boat, and my daughter (25) when she is not around the world (now she is in Canada).
i began to do a vegetable garden with permaculture, i had a good result last year and it is better and better!
Now, i need an help because i have to save the old beautifull barn that is just in front of the house. The first thing to do is to take off the old tiles and redone some carpentry pieces. With a friend of mine that is a builder we decided to do some happy working days in the 7/8/9 of July, we need some arms and legs...with the heads would be fine !!!!!
Join us for the BIG SAVING HAPPY DAYS!!!!!
and please sorry i try to speak english but i'm just french !! ;)

Hi!
I'm looking for help in my house (mostly cleaning) and small garden, which is in an allotment. I live in a house/apartment in the center of the city, about 400m from the sea. You will have your own room, shared bath with me. Meals will be provided, can be vegetarian. I'm looking for someone who will do easy work 3 hours a day, 5 days a week, either inside or out, depending on the moment. This is a non-smoking house, no drugs at all, no partying. I speak English, French and some German. I am a retired woman, active in social-work volunteer activities, in nature preservation activities, in cultural activities, and gardening.
My home is easily reached by public transportation. The city has all sorts of interesting things to do, be it in sports (water sports mostly!) or cultural activities. You will have plenty of time off to use! And I can show you a few of the more "off the track" things!
Best length of stay would be for one week.

I need help in constructing a barn/garage, which recently fell into disrepair (the roof collapsed). I need a strong pair of hands, not necessarily skilled labour. I am a retired carpenter and using the old timbers. which are huge oak beams - you would be pleased to know are now in place. I am willing to teach carpentry. The ideal would be to work in the morning with the afternoon completely free for the 'helper' to enjoy life here in rural France.
The room is a double, therefore can accommodate a couple, although a single person would be welcome. Private bathroom. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided.
My house is in the countryside, your own transport would be a must. Or pick up can be arranged at an airport or railway station and then a bicycle would be available for use. If you wanted to camp or have a campervan then that would be another option.
Limoges is approx 3/4 hour away. The market towns of Confolens and St. Junien are much closer. The time capsule of Oradour ... more inside

Hello !

We are a young couple (33 and 35). We are IT and civil engineer. We like playing and listening music, sciences, being outside and having fun. We are easy going, no special food diet (tolerant vegetarian welcome). We traveled a year in Australia and 6 months around the world, and we were helpers too! We like to speak English. We don't have any pets. Annabelle love cooking and nature; and Sebastien love computers, photography and handy-works.

About our project:
We bought a small land (1 ha) this year. It is situated in “La chapelle du mont du chat” in the mountain (altitude 900m) : https://goo.gl/maps/n7G9K6uSAFA2
We are living in Voglans down in the valley: https://goo.gl/maps/MsrFg37M4Bm
There is 20 minutes driving between the 2 places.
Our project is to build a wooden house on the land. We are working on the plans but the size will be around 20 meters square.
We will provide all the tools and materials needed.
We can provide water, food, tent and everything n... more inside

Hi, Danielle and I (Gilles) are currently building a straw bale house on a charming little hill surrounded by oak trees near Albi (Tarn, 80 km east of Toulouse).
We have recently completed inserting straw bales inside the timberwork and we are now tackling the plastering of the walls.

We need help to plaster the interior walls with clay, before we can work on the interior of the house (electricity, floor, etc.).
Every bit of help is welcome and no particular skills are required, just curiosity, the desire to be part of a construction with natural materials and learn some techniques along the way. Besides, clay is very pleasant and “sensual” to handle!
Both of us being teachers and passionate about our project, we are eager to communicate about it, the choices we made… and issues we had to deal with! So of course, anyone with an eco-construction project will definitely acquire some theoretical knowledge and practical skills by spending some time working with us on our house! ... more inside

We have a very old house in a nice area not far (one hour) from Toulouse. The house needs general work starting late July until late September. We need one or two people with experience in interior painting, wall and floor work.
The house is in a beautiful medieval village called Puycelci. You can find it on the internet. This house is near the Tower. There is a lake nearby, and a lot of great medieval villages to visit too. There is also a very large beautiful forest nearby -great for walking and photography.
We offer your own room with food paid in exchange for 4.5 hours of work per day, 5 days a week. We prefer two people that can work well together but individuals are fine too. We ask for at least 2 weeks -please no children and no dogs -the house is not set up for them.
Also close by is the great wine region of Gaillac, the interesting city of Albi with the famous Toulouse Lautrec museum. You can easily arrive at Puycelci by auto or by train to Gaillac where we can ... more inside

We are an english couple who have been living in France for over twenty years, with our two sons aged 19 and 15. We run an organic vineyard producing red and (sometimes) rosé wines at the property. Most of the work we do is manual and we do need help from time to time, particularly at harvest time, which is usually mid to late September/early October.

We enjoy having people from different backgrounds and countries to stay with us here, adding new experiences for us and our children.

There is always stuff to do in the vegetable garden and around the house, and cooking etc. Guests are more than welcome to cook should they want to, as it makes a great (ex)change.
We also have a small flock of sheep which started as only 3 but is now eleven as we have found no acceptable means of limiting the numbers....

We can offer accommodation and meals to anybody who wants to come and help us, in exchange for 4 or 5 hours work a day, on average.
