I run a small accommodation venue, with large garden for vegetables and chickens. On the same plot of land is my own cottage, with some spare rooms. I am hoping to find a suitable person(s) to help with general maintenance, some joinery, garden work, and vegetables. I need assistance with maintenance, cleaning accommodation venue and general house work in my own cottage. What I do here is small scale. I work as a full time artist and am away from the venue now and again. Happy to supply food and accommodation and good introduction to the area. Looking for reliable and flexible person who can act on his/her own initiative. Might need some one over xmas and into the new year.

***We are currently looking for help from now on***

Hello!
After a break of about two years from HelpX, we are back :-)

In April of 2013 we moved from the midlands to beautiful West Cork. We have a traditional cottage, with a chalet and caravan on the land, all overlooking Bantry Bay. We have a cat and two dogs. We also have three young kids! They are, two months, 6 years and 8 years old :-)

There are small veg beds, a polytunnel for planting, and fruit trees on the land. We're looking for help with gardening, especially weeding and clearing. Also carpentry/building would be good!
Someone who is a hard worker and takes initiative is what we're looking for, as we may not be able to work with them all the time.

We also would love someone who is good with kids, if they were creative or artist/crafty people that were good around the house it would be great too!

There is loads of music in the house! You will have your own space in a large caravan on the land, that way ... more inside

I have a smallholding of approx 26 acres in Glen of the Downs, Co. Wicklow.

Life here is made up of 3 parts; Livery Yard; House Bookings &; Goats Goats Goats!

Yard: Ours is a small DIY livery yard which houses up to 12 horses. The horses are looked after day-to-day by their owners, while we work at bringing the yard and fields up to scratch. The land here - fencing, hedging, drainage etc - has been neglected for the last 15 yrs. We're currently building shelters in the fields for the animals for the coming winter.

House Bookings: The main house is our home but is also holiday rental accommodation. We rent it on occasional weekends to cover the cost of works on the property. HelpEx volunteers who come to stay with us will always be provided with comfortable accommodation when the house is rented out. (We usually stay with my mother, who is lovely).

GOATS, GOATS GOATS: We have a few pet goats. They're very sweet and hilarious, and need a little bit of looking after - clean... more inside

An ex-registered organic market garden now run for home consumption, using a mix of agroforestry and old kitchen garden methods.

We grow organic vegetables and vegetables providing for an entirely plant based whole food diet. Bulk grains are bought in from Munster Wholefoods.

We make tempeh, soyamilk, tofu, bread. We chop wood for our fuel, are preparing beds building polytunnels, planting, weeding and harvesting etc.

The house is fueled by locally grown firewood. Coillte is the local forestry admin, and we use our own wooded areas and hedging for wood also.

We have no farm animals or their products and we do not accommodate dogs, cats or other extensions of the animal agriculture industry. We have a plant based diet for ecological and public health reasons only and we are not interested in animal welfare campaigns, new-age etc.

No answer is a permanent solution to a problem, the infinite complexity of the universe will find the exceptions. All flavors of identity p... more inside

Hi,

We are a family of five with three young children. We need help with childminding and doing jobs around the house and garden. We live in Schull a beautiful part of West Cork. We are an easy going family with part-time jobs and lots of interests. Our house is in the countryside by the mountains and close to the sea. It is possible to cycle to Schull from our house.

We need someone who is independent and confident, someone who enjoys children and will be able to work away on their own initiative.

We are offering a lovely room with a view beside a bathroom with WiFi. We love food and you can be assured that while staying with us you will eat well.

This is phase 1 of a restoration project.

We are on a beautiful headland on the south end of Donegal., the sea is within 200m of the cottage, with swimming, fishing and beachcombing.

The ultimate aim is to rescue and renovate this beautiful, but old and battered cottage, and establish a sustainable growing project within the grounds. This will take a number of years but the priority at the moment is to work on the actual cottage. The quicker we can get this done, the better the accommodation will be! For now, all we can offer is camping space in the garden.

This summer we would love to have some strong fit volunteers who have an interest/expertise in:

renovating old buildings
Electrical work
plumbing
lime plastering
dry stone wall building
Thatching
permaculture

we can only offer the garden of the property for accommodation, bring tents and sleeping bags with you, though the living room of the property is available for relaxation periods. We have a basic out... more inside
