we're a market garden specializing in baby leaf salad greens that we sell at Matakana farmers market every saturday. we grow using the bio intensive organic method which is all about building up the soil ecology and humus to support nutrient dense plant growth. we farm on 500sq meters of permanent raised beds. we also have 2 greenhouses for heirloom tomatoes.

we need help with a wide variety of jobs in the garden from sowing seedlings to helping prepare for market. we need hard working, strong, fast working helpers. volunteers work from 9am to 12.30pm 6 days a week in exchange for a fully self contained 'mini' house. you are responsible for your own food, but can help yourselves to as much salad greens as you can eat!

we have 2 children that are homeschooled, luka 12 and mali 9. we also have 2 dogs, 2 cats, 6 sheep, a goat and lots of chickens.

please apply if you are 25 years and older and you are minimum 2 volunteers happy to share the mini house together.

Hi there

The work is helping to rebuild a vintage car so it would be great if you have experience with cars or are good with your hands.

I am looking for people to stay about a month.

Cheers
Miles

I have a number of projects on the go at the same time. So the place can look disorganised. I need help completing some are quite simple tasks which have a start and finish...like painting the sleep out, staining new decking and re-staining the existing deck.

Other and more complex tasks include constructing an outdoor bathroom. Water tanks and irrigation for the gardens. Light jobs like pruning the olive trees and general garden maintenance.

So the exchanged would be task orientated, 'ie' getting the painting gear out and staining is best done in one go, so it might take a full day. So the following day is a rest and recreation day.

Ideally, five-day stay, be it a single/couple of two people who have a bit of life experience, who aren't afraid to ask questions and can work independently.

ACCOMidation is a separate sleep out in the garden.

TRANsport: Two zone bus ride to CBD. I live in Beachhaven, (see map). Bus stops are 100 meters away. For the more adven... more inside

Wow I have just had 2 very very bad Helpx experiences .
The first one caused me $900 damage- broke my $500 steam iron by burning right though the plastic onto the tank... and gauging a $300 fry pan I had asked her to be very careful with. So disrespectful.

the other girl was left in charge of my children and babysitting to her meant she sat at the table with her ear plugs in and watched her computer..... no idea what my kids were up to. She did not feed them... they fended for themselves getting ice cream, brandy snaps, rice paper, crackers.
Shocking!

However if you are responsible and a hard worker we'd like to hear from you.

Enjoy beautiful coastal and farming surroundings, and be part of a team who take pride in welcoming guests throughout the year. We've got plenty of winter/off peak work in the grounds - tasks might include painting, gardening, lawn mowing and cleaning and in the summer this is one of the liveliest spots to be, with hundreds of guests and visitors coming and going each day. The managers would like help in the Holiday Park and sometimes entertaining their young 2 year old explorer. We could host a couple if one of our cabins is available at the time of your stay. So if you are looking for a sojourn by the sea, love young children, and people, want to practise your English language skills, or gain some experience in a family holiday park environment, then it would be great to hear from you.

Kia Ora,
My almost 17yr old son, our dog Bernie and myself live on our family land overlooking our pristine beach, Te Arai Point, a great little east coast surf break, 15 minutes from Mangawhai and 90 from Auckland. Because we are a little remote and sometimes I have to work in Auckland, it is best you have your own transport, but not essential. We are working to replace gorse, clay and pampas with native bush, and harakeke (weaving flax).
In return for 4hrs work, of mostly weeding, planting, cleaning, mowing and building if so inclined. I will show you around in my trusty old Toyota cruiser. Welcome to use our bikes and surf boards. We have lakes and beaches and gorgeous walks. Accommodation is in a caravan with comfortable double bed or a tent under a Puriri tree in the garden with double blow up mattress and good linen. Meals provided, although sometimes you may need to prepare them yourself if I am working. With a large extended family there is always a laugh, and usually a ... more inside
