I have just recently moved back from France and now live on the edge of Dartmoor - the moor is outside my front door. I am 10 miles from Plymouth and near to some of the most beautiful beaches in the country.
I have been working on renovating the house and now the better weather is coming I need to think about the garden.
I need a raised deck building in my sloping garden and some french doors fitted as well as general gardening.
Please contact me if you think you could help me. I think it would take about 2 weeks. You would need to have some carpentry skills.

Old Allangrange Farm and Black Isle Garden Design operate with the health of invertebrates, the environment, food production and beauty as a priority. We believe it is vital to work from the ground up, meaning that soil health is foundational. From that you can hope for flourishing plants, healthy pollinators, food for birds, which in turn keep insects in check. The gardens are open to the public by prior arrangement.

Some hosts need help for only four hours a day. We are different. If you come here it will be hard work and I hope lots of fun. Many of our volunteers return and over the last 20 years we have hosted more than 2,000. We admire our volunteers for their vitality, enthusiasm, and each one for their own character. If you want time to write a masterpiece, this is not the right place for you unless you are an insomniac. If youd like to learn about organic practices, become immersed in horticulture that is best for you and every living thing in your garden, or s... more inside

I really enjoyed having some HelpXer guests here a couple of years ago! The garden needs some attention, I could do with a hand with practical tasks to enable me to give time to my creative professional life and I enjoyed having some interesting people around when I did HelpX before. So here might be an opportunity:

I am a professional photographer living in a (single-storey) cottage in the early 19th century conservation village of Charlestown built for lime workers by the Earl of Elgin on the banks of the River Forth. It is a friendly but quiet place, as is my home. (If you are a party animal, this is not the HelpX for you!) NON SMOKERS ONLY, please.

Jobs for an active, easy-going multi-tasker would include:
sanding and painting interior and exterior
window frames
dog walking
gardening - I would prefer someone with interest and experience in gardening, plants and vegetables. Weeding and general garden maintenance is always required.

Painting (and sanding do... more inside

We have an outdoor challenge events business which organises cycling, walking, kayaking and swimming events raising money for charity. We operate from a farmhouse on the shores of Loch Tay in Highland Perthshire where we also have airbnb accommodation. Our business is very seasonal so we need short term help over the busy months to help us run our home whilst we are working. We are looking for willing helpers to join our friendly family team. Due to the nature of our business no two days are the same around here. Staying with us best suits flexible and self motivated individuals or couples who love wild open spaces and could help in the house/garden. We have three children and three springer spaniels. Due to our remote location (no public transport and no shops within walking distance) staying with us will give you a true highland experience in a stunning part of Scotland and a taste of scottish rural life. We have hosted helpx friends for several years now and we look forw... more inside

We are a 19 acre smallholding 700 ft up a mountain North of Swansea and south of the Brecon Beacons National Park. We have a burgeoning forest garden and grow medicinal herbs, Its a creative, magical sacred place with lots of history, opportunities for walks and waterfalls. We have four children, chickens, and bees and a lurcher dog. We need help with gardening, fencing, brambling and fruit picking, building ponds and building maintenance. We are doing up a barn to run workshops and need help clearing and sorting. Work would be for 2-3 hours a day with the weekend off. You would provide your own food in the daytime, and we would provide evening meal, although help with cooking is appreciated. It would suit people looking for a quiet retreat, and sometimes we will be busy, so it is helpful if you enjoy your own company. Accommodation is a mobile home, or yurt and compost loo, and use of bathroom in main house. It is a very rural setting, with the local town a 35 minute walk, with a... more inside

Hi, we moved to our home in North Dorset August 2014. It is a farm in a beautiful area of England. We have 3 children aged 20 - 12, 2 dogs and a cat and are preparing for beef cattle. It is a very friendly area, and the train station is close by. We planted 17000 trees over the last 3 years which need some help maintaining. We are establishing a garden, renovating a barn, making doors, painting. There are lots of different jobs to do from helping on the farm, to the garden, to cleaning and cooking in the house. If you have carpentry skills, brick laying or building skills, that is useful but not necessary.

We recently finished converting a barn to a large studio with a kitchen, it is attached to the house but quiet and private with great views.

Short-term cultural exchange in the old Roman City of Chester in exchange for helping with DIY around the house and garden.

Set in central Chester the location is close to everything you need and can enjoy in the city. Chester has many interesting things to see and do, including cultural and artistic opportunities. You can also walk along the Canal and River as well as tour the city on The Roman Sandstone Walls. The black and white Tudor buildings of the Rows are a tourist attraction and many people visit each year. It is close to North Wales, Manchester and Liverpool. I also have other guests staying, often artists and actors, as I like meeting new people from all across the world.

The helper will have a private double room, with excellent views over Wales, plus shared kitchen, bathroom, living areas and gardens. Food is not provided however occasional shared meal if that suits. I would ask the guest to remain vegan/vegetarian and non-smoking whilst in my home.

We're the hostel facing the sea, it's scenic, it's peaceful, and it's sunny! We've opened 2 years ago and already built a strong "boutique hostel" reputation. We are looking for a responsible, genuine and cheerful help. Our guests are mainly hikers, amateur sailors, bird watchers, school and uni trippers and also fish and chips eater. We've got constant and good ratings, thanks to many factors, one of them being our helpers!
We need volunteers to ensure guests are being welcomed in a nice atmosphere and the place stays tidy. You would be helping 5 days a week with two full consecutive days off. Most days you will help the morning and have the afternoon free unless you are scheduled on for the day, and in exchange for your volunteering, you will receive free accommodation, laundry facilities, free tea/coffee, WiFi.
Discover the Fife kingdom and most particularly the East Neuk region its history and its reputation of having the most friendly people in all Scotland! If you wish to... more inside

Hi, I am regularly looking for helpers as there is nearly always a new project to do here. I would prefer a couple or a someone who is creative and ideally has Carpentry, Construction, DIY and Maintenance Skills In particular please, but who can also assist with all manner of things from house cleaning, DIY, Gardening, renovation and building. I am looking for a couple, but having said that, would consider a person travelling alone too.

This is a lovely old farmhouse tucked down a Cornish country lane on the Rame peninsula. I am within walking distance of the beach and national trust coastal paths where there is amazing surfing and lots of walking opportunities. I do not run the farm as a fully working farm but do have chickens, 2 pigs, dogs and cats

I am in the process of renovating a vintage caravan, barns and out buildings, and am, along with a friend, hoping to build a small straw bale and half 'old window frame' lean-to glass house, a tree house and a clay pizza oven an... more inside
