We live on a ten acre block on the estuary front in Mangawhai that we share with friends. We each have our own area but can also roam through the whole property. It is a wonderful place to live. We are growing towards being an art village as many of the residents have creative skills and we are attracting more people and setting up infrastructure. There are 2 glass artists, anarchitect, a flax weaver, herbalist, yoga teacher, healer, bio dynamic gardener, painter, professional viola player, several builders and teachers. My wife Manaand I have two children, Tara 10 and Sam 5. We have moved a house onto the property that we are renovating and have set up gardens and chooks but thereare also extensive mature fruit and other trees. We are looking for people capableof helping with various building projects that we are working on and assistinggenerally in the family home and garden. Skills in building are not essential, as I (Simon) am a builder. But a willingness to work and share in our... more inside

We are a busy family of 6, living on a lifestyle block of land close to the ocean. My husband is a builder, roofer and scaffolder by trade and runs his own very busy yet small company. We have many half finished projects that desperately need completing. We need gorse sprayed and grubbed. We also need firewood cut and stacked for the winter, general maintenance on the property, as well as being able to get along with and occasionally take care of our children. We have plenty of animals; sheep, chooks, a pig, several cats and a dog. We have a cosy cabin available that fits a queen bed and small chest of drawers. Unlimited wifi is available and full facilities are in the main house. We require helpers that have some building knowledge, and can work unsupervised, therefore need to be trustworthy and honest.

We are a typical kiwi family and you'll experience authentic kiwi living at it's best. Laid back and relaxed we relish learning about new cultures and meeting new people. We... more inside

Our property consists of a well managed Avocado Orchard that requires occasional attention from time to time.

We can offer a work in exchange for meals and accommodation for no more than two people at a time staying up to a max of 6 days, who would like to come and help keep a small property (2.6 ha / 6 acres) tidy and productive.
The work entails weeding, mowing, wood splitting, some pruning, or other related Orchard type activities, and occasionally helping in the House, for no more than 24 hrs a week (days are flexible), in exchange for meals and accommodation.

Looking forward to receiving enquiries from interested people who want to mix in.
FYI: The property is situated some 16 kms West of Whangarei, and only 40 mins away from some great East or West Coast beaches.

Cheers and look forward to hearing from you.

Utakura Valley is nestled in the upper reaches of the Hokianga. I can offer work for free accommodation. We are pretty much centralised in the middle of the North traveling 30 - 50 minutes in any direction to beaches and small towns of historical significance. We as well will be providing our own local brand of hospitality in local Maori culture and knowledge. The valley settings are green, very quite, with local produce when available. Also we welcome the opportunity for people to share in cultural exchanges as well as calling on creative thinking when needed.
