We have spent 3 years on major house/garden renovation, trying to make our lifestyle as low impact as we can, but are still needing some help: to clear &terrace & plant a very steep bank, get in place rainwater harvesting system, chicken pen, fruit trees, wood store & lots more. I am offering all food & accommodation for approx 6 hours/day. Day off/ week. Min 1 week. Beautiful location few minutes from beach. Bikes & kayaks available. Wi-fi, TV, table football, red squirrels, lots of birds, fantastic walking. Hard physical work, fit people needed!
We are about 10/15 mins walk from the village shop which is really well stocked. There is also a Post Office/cafe/ bar. Ventnor, a small town, is about 20 mins cycle along the partly closed to vehicles road, or about 1 hour walk along the stunning coastal path. The surfing is apparently quite good when conditions are right.
'Phone reception at the house is poor to non existent, but people seem able to connect to the wifi ok.

We are on the banks of the beautiful Helford River on the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall. We have a large woodland garden where we need help to keep the brambles away and stop it turning into wilderness. And 8 hectares of forest garden and young walnut and chestnut trees that need weeding, mulching and loving, and planting of shelterbelts.
Also, we have a variety of barns and outbuildings that need various amounts of restoration/repair if anyone is interested.
There is self-contained accommodation with possibility to self-cater if and when appropriate.
There is a village shop and pub 5 minutes walk away, but anything more is 10 miles away. So a car would be good. Or a bicycle.

Hi/Hello,

I am Vanessa, I am a practising artist, I paint in oil and make sculptures too.

I built my house last year and there are still lots of finishing off things to do such as carpentry, snagging, painting and cleaning. I need a HelpXer from now, until March 6th.

I'm looking for a single person (male or female) to help me. 25 hours a week would be great, but timing is negotiable depending your interests.

In exchange, I'm offering a very comfortable ensuite bedroom in my home. Food is provided and I invite you to cook occasionally too. There is unlimited Wi-Fi access in my home too.

I have two wonderful cats that enjoy being around.

Rock is small village on the North Cornish Coast near numerous surfing beaches in this area. Rock Beach, Padstow and the Camel Estuary are beautiful places to spend your time and within 15 minutes walk from my home.

Please send me a message if this sounds appealing to you.

Best wishes,

Vanessa.

**NOT CURRENTLY HOSTING FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE**

We live in a decent sized old house in Layer de laye, close to Colchester (Britains oldest recorded town)

Our village has two pubs, a shop, a woodland a few minutes walk away. There is a frequent bus service in to Colchester. And we can give lifts too.

We are non smokers. If you smoke you can do so in the garden.

Our house is a historic listed building, 300 years old in parts. On site we have a koi pond, a swimming pool, hot tub, plenty of weights and exercise equipment, and a bike. If you like activities there will be plenty to amuse yourself with.

We are a couple in our early 60's looking for a little help around the home, nothing too challenging. Gardening, light house work etc for a few hours a day.

You are especially welcome if you hold any marketing skills and can help with Rob's photography.

In return we'd be happy to offer meals and a nice private room.

We are new to helpX, it was recommended... more inside

Larcombe copse is an old unused slate quarry in a beautiful valley with a lake, stream, wildflower grasslands, woodland and pasture. I have a two and a half acre field with a caravan for temporary accommodation and the makings of a field shelter/lean-to for storage and to double up as an art studio.

I am looking for help to finish the construction alongside general maintenance and planting a range of trees, shrubs, herbs and vegetables, introducing bees, chickens etc. all in all to create as diverse and beautiful a place as possible:)

I live by the river in Totnes and can provide food and accommodation and transport to the field which is ten or so minutes away. There is also the option to stay up there temporarily as I am making the caravan comfortable with a burner and a gas shower:)

We have a large country house overlooking the Culm valley. There is a woodland and herbaceous border garden, lawns, orchards and a walled kitchen garden where we practice a no-dig, organic system with raised beds, poly-tunnel and greenhouse. We grow and forage as much of our own food as possible including vegetables, fruit, herbs, eggs, and poultry. We are keen sour-dough bakers and also make preserves, wines and herbal medicines.

You need to have a good grasp of English language to understand the jobs explained to you when you will be working on your own. We encourage couples, but individuals are also welcome according to availability.

We welcome helpers for a minimum of one week and maximum two week stay. you must have your own insurance.

The work includes all sorts of gardening tasks like planting, weeding, harvesting, also chopping and stacking wood, clearing brambles and scrub, repairing walls, outbuildings and fences. There are also indoor jobs such as antique resto... more inside

***Recent work - This week we have been clearing rushes to create space for a small veggie garden. Work to be done right now includes helping create raised beds, ditching, more clearing of rushes, clearing paths and maybe some fencing.***

We have a 12 acre croft situated in the main village of Craighouse on the beautiful Isle of Jura. The island is home to about 230 people and we're lucky to be part of a great community here.

The land has never been productively used (it was only created as a croft 10 years ago) and is currently a mix of woodland and rough ground.

There is a lot of potential for the land but initially we need help clearing rushes and bracken to create space for a veg garden, digging ditches, mending tracks and cutting wood. People with chainsaw / coppicing experience or the ability to use large, petrol strimmers / weed whackers particularly welcome.

We will also be looking to paint the outside of the house this spring, when the weather allows. In r... more inside

We are a retired couple with husband registered disabled. Until recently I was an active Helpxer in Europe but now am limited to light duties only.

We have two needs - one anytime from now and the second maybe from Easter depending on the weather.

We seek a competent carpenter to hang / rehang doors and generally help us keep the house in good condition. I would estimate a week's work based on 4 hours a day and am happy to commit to hosting for that time.

From Easter we want to substantially redesign our back garden and consign our 15 sq metres of decking to the fire. We will be laying stone tiles and digging / constructing a water feature / pond. Then reconfiguring lawns and veg patches. Strong backs and knees needed as well as passion for gardening and creative input as plans by no means finalised.

Also under and gloss painting needed in the house on a few doors.

The working day will be dictated by the needs of the job and weather - but probably no more than 4 a day... more inside
