Hi
Duncan and I moved to Portugal 2 years ago. Our son is 3 year old, Kai, whom is integrated into a non state school. We would love to share our experiences on our new journey, with new friends and families. The land is amazing 15.000sqm lots of different fruit trees, vines wonderful stream in which we have created a natural swimming pool. We are based in a beautiful private peaceful valley. But in walking distance to 3 small villages 2 klms to Castanheira de Pera alarger town. Castanheira de pera you will find river beeches, huge outdoor wave machine swimming pool, etc.

We have a 2 berth caravan, and a 6 berth caravan, fully equipped, and away from our space. We offer 3 meals a day, with options to cook in your own space, with joint meals on occassion.

In return we ask for 5 hours work a day, 5 days a week helping on various projects to enclude working on the land- creating pathways flower beds, fences, veggi patch, picking prunning trees, construction on the house, painti... more inside

Thanks for your interest.

Please note that we are low impact off-grid solar electricity and get our everyday water from our bore hole. So - please do not bring hair dryers etc ! In grey weather we have to reduce consumption to save the batteries.

At present our 200 olive trees need work on them to get them 'shaped' to maximize the yield... as well as our vegetable and flower plots. Towards October and November we particularly need olive pickers...but can find interesting things for you to do at anytime.

We are preparing part of the land for horticulture and vineyards projects. Someone wanting to set up such as their own small holding would be particularly welcome. A neighbour can advise on keeping goats, ducks, chickens etc

We are quite easy going but you must like cats and dogs - as they are family here. A motor caravan / caravan or the house is available for you to stay in.

We are vegetarian but you can cook and eat whatever you like as long as it is legal in ... more inside

my husband and myself live in very old traditional Portuguese house in a tiny Portuguese hamlet about 30mins from the Algarvean coast that was formerly the place where the local farmers would bring their olives to be made into olive oil. We still have much of the old machinery and many outbuildings that have fallen into disrepair. We also have several rescue dogs and cats and we require help to do sympathetic renovations, carpentry, building and gardening work on the land, we would like to irrigate the land and plant more trees and vegetables, and build a more suitable wall around the veg garden from old stone on our land. At present we have 6 rescue dogs, though not all live inside the house and 6 rescue cats, plus horses, one of which was also a rescue. The horses are in livery so there is no care required for them, however they are available for any helpers who might like to ride them, although they must have some experience. The main house is a work in progress but comfortab... more inside
