We are an Irish/South African couple who have recently moved to a small vineyard in central Portugal. We are renewing the vineyard, growing our own organic vegetable and we plan to get some livestock soon (chickens, geese, goats).
We would welcome visitors who are prepared to help with pruning vines, gardening or carpentry for a few hours a day. Accomodation is a small caravan but meals, showers and bathroom facilities will be in our small cottage.

We are located in the centre of rural Portugal. It's set in the hills just outside the town of Castanheira de Pera. The town is in walking distance and has most things that you would require. It was formally a farm or Quinta which farmed most of the surrounding land. It was left empty for over 30 years and in disrepair. Its been going through major reconstruction over the last 10 years. I have still much work to do. Reclaiming the land ready for growing vegetables,(hopefully organic) cutting down some of the trees and logging, repairs to dry stone walls, making a feature of the stream the waterfall, ext. There is more work also on some of the buildings, i.e. clearing out the rubble and grading the stone, painting ext, ext.
I have a beautiful three bedroomed cottage independent of the main house which helpers will have full use of. It has its own kitchen and shower room and a log burner for those cold nights.
I'm looking for enthusiastic volunteer helpers, for general works in an... more inside

This is a little organic self-sufficient farm with big veggie and fruit garden, field, donkeys, goats, pigs, chicken, doves, ducks, dogs and cats; solar-energy and autonomy.
We constantly welcome helpers for all kinds of agriculture work.

Above this you will know portuguese cooking and can learn many aspects of organic farming and using or conserving all fruit and vegetables of garden and field.
We have a balance diet including meat and fish, if vegeterians want they can do their own meals.

Work is mostly 4 hours a day, 6 days a week, and accomodation will be in a cozy caravan. In the winter people have to be strong to deal with simple circumstances. Electricity is based on solar, then when there is less sun there will not always be enough water for daily showers or maybe missing of light. bring torch!

the farm sits between two beautiful villages in 3 to 4km distance; the next town is lagos and there is a bus going to the villages.

Lagos offers always cultural-events... more inside

We have a villa in the algarve which has 3 floors with 2 apartments. We rent 1 apartment usually from March to November for holidays for disabled people. The owner is disabled himself, being paralysed from the neck down. His wife looks after him and the villa. There is usually about 3 weeks work preparing for the next holiday season. This would be in January or February. Help would be required to prepare and paint areas inside and out. Tiling, odd jobs, gardening, testing and fitting irrigation in the garden.

A farm located in the mountains of central Portugal. It has three olive groves, grapevines, loads of Medronho bushes from which the berries are distilled to make a liqueur. Other trees I have are plum, orange, cherry, apple, peach, pomegranate, lemon tangerine and fig. Beehives on land and two old buildings which are being restored.

The land has olive trees (three groves) containing about 80 trees. Grapevines, fruit trees and medronho which is a strawberry looking fruit that is left to ferment over three months when picked in Oct/Nov/Dec to make a pretty strong liqueur. The work available at the moment is clearing a forest of pines and brush, taking out the cut logs, strimming, building a stone house for animals, olive picking and burning. I am very flexible and look forward to meeting you.
