We have a small guesthouse, bike hire business and craft shop on the Isle of Rum off the west coast of Scotland.
I am a single mum of three but only the smallest is still at home. We have a cat and some chickens and live right next to the sea.
We need general help through the summer with guest mealtimes and cleaning rooms.
I also have a garden which needs a lot of help and a polytunnel which needs looking after. I also need help maintaining my bikes.
Other jobs include outside painting and lawn mowing.

I have a big workshop space and a fair bit of wood so anyone with joinery experience would be handy
and I would also like to paint a wildflower mural on my big workshop doors so if anyone with an artistic flair could come and do that.

I can provide accommodation either in a little caravan or in our garden room, you can use the bathroom in the house.

You would be expected to work 5hrs a day in return for accommodation and an evening meal.
In your time off, you can ... more inside

We are a 26 acre traditional smallholding in mid-devon. We are renovating the land, which has been largely unused for a century. We keep rare breed sheep, goats, and chickens, and hope to include pigs shortly.

We have a large ongoing task in repairing / cutting back the hedge rows, with a view to repariing the banks, re-planting the gaps, and being able to lay the hedges in future years. We've also begun planting a new wood copse in one field, and plan to plant a traditional orchard in another.

One thing we have struggled with is getting our veg gardening up to scratch. We have experience and enthusiasm, but not enough hours in the day!

Whilst not being registered organic, we self-impose most of that system. We do treat the animals with medicines, but on an evidence-based basis.

Our over-arching approach is one of sustainability.

We would ideally like to find a person or a couple who was prepared to stay for several months of the spring/summer/autumn, and help with cr... more inside

*April/May placement*

Hi we’re Adam and Laura, we have a little boy called Harry and an English Pointer called Ottie. We currently live with Adams parents on a lovely smallholding, named Wickwood in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside. Wickwood consists of 10 acres of mainly fields and woodland, a farmhouse, cottage style gardens, vegetable patch, and is home to around 20+ sheep and numerous chickens.

We’re just in the process of refurbishing a large barn conversion, which will be our future home and also includes an attached holiday cottage.
We’re looking for one of two helpers, with building or decorating experience to help us complete the house, which should take another 4 weeks.

There are also gardens, woodland and an orchard which we hope to bring back to life and may even turn into a Glamping site.
Accommodation and food will be provided in return.

We are very sociable people and enjoy other peoples company.

We’re keen to find helpers who have skills and... more inside

Hi Wanderers,

Brynmelyn Bach is a lovely little patch of land that still needs a fair bit of work. We run a microdairy where the goats and cow keep their young and animals that would usually be slaughtered are retired to a conservation grazing herd. We sell raw milk, yogurt and cheese.

We are a bunch of scroungers and do it yourselfers looking to make a living off the land. So we are looking for someone with a sense of adventure and an appreciation for the rustic. I work as a way of supplementing income while we set up so you'll also need a strong work ethic and be happy to occasionally manage yourself. You won't be lonely, my partner is an artist working on the land and we have lots of people who come and go.

Now for the best bit we live on a double decker bus that we've converted into a farmhouse. There is a bedroom in the bus for you to stay in or you're welcome to stay in the tipi when there are no guests. Communal areas are shared and we have a compost loo outside. ... more inside

Hello Dear Helpxers!

Skilled and unskilled workers equally needed all year round.

We have the privilege of managing a beautiful country house that is used for B&B, Retreats and Weddings in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside.

This house was built in 1856 and was a family home originally. In recent years it has been developed as a B&B with 9 bedrooms, a conference and retreat centre and party and wedding venue. The range of events we have here is quite vast but we can tell you all about it when you arrive.

So here is the deal, regarding skilled work, if you have experience in any of the following:

- Carpentary
- Roofing
- Lead windows
- Plumbing
- Building
- Painting
- Gardening
- Cleaning
- Events/hospitality
- Cooking
- Marketing

Then you are especially welcome!

But regardless of who you are, there is plenty of work to be done.
The garden is in need of work at the moment, the spring is coming and its a goo... more inside

We are an elderly couple, man 94years and woman 87 years. We are now carless and pretty much house bound. it would be nice if we had a couple to stay for a short time to cook meals for us to help my wife, to take her out shopping or just a trip out, whilst somebody keeps me company, accompanys me on my walks, I can get a bit wobbly sometimes on my feet! We have a carer coming in daily so no nursing or personal care is required.
Just a change of face and a friendly ear and a kind soul. We tend to need a lot of rest so probably the afternoons would be your own time.
Good traditional english country cooking easily digested for an early evening meal.
Accomodation and food in return for food, transport, companionship, a bit of cooking, light housework. We are in a beautiful village on the edge of the cotswolds close to Oxford, so a good position for sightseeing. Or a super place to unwind and walk in nature or lie on the lawn with a cup of tea and a book.
A calm and sympathetic natur... more inside

This is an unusual listing. I am looking for someone who is a great carpenter/gardener to help tend my organic garden and fix my decking in Brighton City. This would suit someone who would like to spend some time in Brighton experiencing British seaside culture. There are lots to do here from music events, the Fringe etc. This would be a great short term experience for someone who wants to experience life in the UK. I'm an English/EAL teacher so I would be willing to help improve your English language too.

We are a friendly family who, 4 years ago moved to our smallholding in a beautiful spot at the foot of the Cheviot Hills in the Scottish Borders. We are starting from scratch turning a bare field into an organic veg and fruit plot and home for animals. We need help with all sorts of things: digging and planting; erecting stock-fencing; building a tree house; growing food from seed; maintaining the veg plot and hedging; painting the inside and outside of the house; looking after the dogs and chickens; help around the house. If you can turn up, fit in and help out then we can look after you!! We had Helpxers for the past few years: it was a great experience and we got loads of jobs done and made new friends. We're a pretty laid-back lot (except the labradoodles who are pretty nuts!). Have a look at our references if you are interested in coming here.
