This is a big shared house which is being gradually renovated in a fairly lovely and eco-minded way.

We welcome helpers usually for about a week at a time over the summer. We are now sorted for 2018, but if you are interested, contact us in 2019!

This year's tasks may include coppicing trees, re-lining the pond, painting windows or internal walls, and re-slating a barn, depending on weather, skills and inclination.

When you visit there may be between 2 and 8 other people about; it may be quiet or with lovely big shared meals. We're an easy 15 min bus ride into the cultural centre of Sheffield, and 45 minutes through to the beautiful Peak District.

We've not many reviews yet as we've not used HelpX much but we've hosted people before and they've enjoyed being here. Anyway, please take a look at the website and get in touch with questions and your availability!

We are renovating a 17th century grade 2 listed devonshire longhouse in Dartmoor National park.
a spectacular setting with the moors on our doorstep and a conservation sensitive building project to restore a battered old house to its former glory.
We are a young family currently living in caravans on site to our exciting project and any practical, strong hands are needed. Expect to learn something about conservation building and be prepared to get stuck in.
Accommodation is a comfortable shed with mezzanine bed/ sofa/ mini kitchen. For a few hours work a day I will provide food.
We have 3 small children, a dog and chickens. Be prepared to help out with domestic chores.
We are rather in the middle of the countryside so your own transport is preferable but not essential. We have a couple of bikes you can borrow.

My home is on the edge of a lovely Cotswold town, with a park/meadow a couple of minutes walk from the front door. There is a VERY small garden (but lovely south-facing terrace) with the house. I've made some changes but still inevitably have little DIY and garden projects on the list....
However what I mainly need help with is putting up a (second hand) aluminum greenhouse on one of my two rented allotments about a 4 minute walk from the house.

I speak intermediate Spanish, my 16 year old son is bilingual. We're only too happy to welcome native Spanish speakers.

Main issue will be that I work really difficult hours so can't be with the helpers anywhere near as much as I'd like. I welcomed lots of HelpXers at our previous home in Spain and fully understand it's all about interchange of cultures as well as a healthy sharing of hours of work - preferably together but as I said, this is not so easy for me here in the UK.
Ours isn't likely to be a long stay project, but some... more inside

Hello from Joe and Caz at Glandwr. We are an OPD permaculture project next to (but not part of) the Lammas Ecovillage. Our project currently consists of a young forest garden, areas of young woodland, an organic vegetable garden and areas of pasture. Joe is a woodworker and Caz forages for wild foods for restaurants. Our interests are self sufficiency, home brewing, music and more. In previous years we’ve enjoyed plenty of travelling and festivals, we love meeting new people and sharing skills.

We currently live in a converted horse box and have BASIC facilities on site. Our projects this year are building a carpentry workshop, finishing off land works, improving infrastructure for volunteers/visitors, upkeep of the forest garden, growing vegetables, using a holistic grazing pattern to keep sheep, caring for the 2,500 trees we planted last winter, general land maintenance and more.

We aim to create a beautiful and functional landscape which will support our own needs and promo... more inside

Hi there,

We need a beauty therapist to help out at our play cafe as our current one has had a death in the family.

You would need to be able to commit to staying for a minimum of 2 weeks.

We can sort the days and hours to suit all of us and you'd be free the other days to go off and explore.

*????There may also be the option of some extra paid work if interested.*????

We are living in a lovely unique town and are super close to rivers, forests, cities and the beach too!

In exchange you would have your own lovely room (with/without tv) and shared use of the wifi, bathroom and other communal areas and we can discuss meals, towels etc depending on your needs and availability :)

We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Jeni and Jordi

P.s. we also have a lovely dog :)

**Update**

Hello to All

I live in a small end-terraced house on the edge of town (5mins walk) your room is a large comfortable single room, with shared bathroom, kitchen and Wi-Fi access.
Only a 2 min walk to the train station, with good links to Chester and Manchester.
This is a peaceful house, for example no TV, so probably not exciting enough for most people.

I continue with renovation/redecorating work on my house, but nothing too technical or hard work.

+++Update+++

At the moment I don't have any work available in exchange for room and food so I would expect payment for room only.

If you have any questions please e-mail.

Thanks
