We are a home educating (unschooling) family of 7 (only 4 of us are home at this point) working towards creating a permaculture homestead on the bush block we live on. I did my Permaculture Design Certificate in 2016 and we've lived here for 2 years so are in the initial stages. Being a bush block we have loads of bird life along with the occasional kangaroo and koala.

We have all kinds of projects happening building an outdoor kitchen with a cob oven, the beginnings of a market garden, gardening both maintaining and establishing, looking after animals, fencing ect. We love exploring our local area and helpers would be welcome to join us on our outings.

We live about an hour from Brisbane and 45 minutes from Toowoomba making both these places fairly accessible. We are also 20 minutes from Gatton and being in the Lockyer Valley offers opportunities to connect with other backpackers travelling or perhaps pick up some paid work on one of the local farms.

We provide a flat within the main building with a Queen bed, kitchen and shower. It's old, but clean and spacious, and there is a TV with Foxtel/Netflix and free wifi. It is also air-conditioned. Food is provided and you can eat with us or cook for yourselves. Food and accommodation are covered by three/four hours a day per person, and there is extra paid work available depending on your skills which will be more cleaning or general handywork around the development.

I am looking for a single person or a couple, to stay at a self sufficient permaculture farm with plenty of opportunity to learn about fermenting food and cheese making. I'm a permaculture teacher and this farm is a great opportunity for people to learn about home food production. Work to be done is mostly tidying up the vegie garden and in the food forest garden for spring planting the tropical veg as well as propagating from new planting material. Meals are mostly from the farm including our own meat. The aim of this permaculture farm is to be as environmentally friendly as possible, there is a compost toilet and re-using the grey water in the gardens. Tank water only and a share bathroom downstairs.

Free guided tour of Magnetic Island for the helper! - Read to the end.
Handy one/gardener/cleaner wanted for home stay on Magnetic Island, 25 minutes by ferry from Townsville, North Queensland. You will be living with a fun, fair minded couple in their 70's who have made friends with previous helpers. My wife, Joan, and I enjoy the surrounding bird-life and tropical lifestyle and hope you will too. You will need to work for approx 4.5 hours per day, on cleaning, gardening or odd-jobs to improve our pleasant 2 storey home. We have 2 very friendly dogs who may need occasional walking on the beach. Would suit a fit and energetic person. Good food, nice house, use of the swimming pool. Minimum four days, maximum, if we like you, two weeks. Our languages: English, some Thai and a little of Italian and French. We are moral, but atheists, so anyone dominated by their religion is not suitable. Col is a tourism ace and will give the helper a free guided car tour of the Island.
