Our smallholding (the dream home we sought for 10 years!)has awesome views and is situated in the beautiful Eden Valley near the Lake District National Park. We also run our family business from here (a non harmful anti-grazing product for gardens and growers)and things can get quite busy...We have sheep (only 25 now - a mix of Herdwicks, Shetlands and mules), chickens, horses, dogs and cats - and 2 children aged 11 and 18! There is a valley and flat grazing at the top (that we use for hay) and ancient woodland (4 hectares) ) that we manage and get wood from.
We need help with the animals and general maintenance work and there is also some building /renovation going on.
We are a friendly family, used to and welcoming of different people here. There is a caravan with woodburning stove (and other spaces)available for use. We have a great 'play' barn where we have table tennis and do yoga etc!
We are looking for someone to help out in the months of July and August. Must be able to ... more inside

I have a very large garden and just need a bit of help keeping it in shape from time to time.
Probably a week is all that's needed at one time, however I am open to flexibility on this.
A large lawn, many hedges, some weeding, cutting back and tidying up.
The House is in South London and is extremely quiet and beautiful. Close to Dulwich Village, but also very easy and quick access to London life...eg 7 mins on overground to Victoria, 15 mins to London Bridge.
We are vegetarian. And, to be clear, we don't welcome any meat to be eaten on the premises.
Looking forward to meeting a friendly face.

A herb farm and orchard. We are looking for either one or two people to live on our farm and help us with gardening duties to help set up our new herb farm, prune our apple trees and help with the apple harvest and light domestic duties. This is an agricultural area so it should be possible to find paying jobs nearby.

Comfortable accommodation will be provided in return for 20 hours work per week. Weekends will be free except at busy times by prior agreement. Evening meal will be provided.

We need help from the middle of April 2017 onward and for the rest of the year and are looking for like minded people to help on the farm, with the yurts, the family, the logs, the kitchen garden and the wholesome cooking. We welcome couples as well as single travellers.

We moved here to pursue dreams of holistic sustainable living, escaping the rat race, and living a life more connected to each other, family, the local community, and nature.

This dream has very much been realised and we work together on Sunny Brow projects, eating wholesome cuisine and enjoying being in close proximity to nature with our 3 children. Come and join us to experience and share what we feel so lucky to have.

Our projects include renovating the farm buildings into apartments, managing the woodlands and log-fueled boiler, renting yurts to holiday makers and newly launched is the holistic retreat, offering alternative therapies and activities to our guests.

Our family consists of 2 lively b... more inside

We are a Czech-Canadian/German couple, living with our lovely baby-boy and our cat in Lancaster, near the Lake District in the North-West of England. We make our living as a professor and a writer. Our terraced house with a little garden is close to the river Lune, with lots of greenery around.

We are living away from our families in the Czech Republic and Germany, so we are missing the support by grandparents/aunties/uncles/in-laws. We would be particularly happy about Czech or German speaking volunteers, since we hope that our son will speak those languages, on top of English (which we speak at home).

About 80% of the help we need is housework and cooking. Only 20% is childcare. We looking for someone to help around the house so that we can spend more time with our baby (rather than we cooking and cleaning after one more person LOL!). In exchange, we offer a large bedroom with ensuite bathroom. All volunteers have said it was the nicest room they've ever stayed in. We often... more inside

Hello.I have a quirky home in a quiet suburb of Leeds only 5 minutes from bus services into the city.
I am looking for help in most areas of home maintenance inside and out. Painting, plumbing, electrics, guttering, pointing..Hours will depend upon the tasks you undertake however 5 per day seems fair.
In exchange for your hard work, I can offer a lovely double room and all meals.
There are some great walking areas nearby and the East coast is not too far away.
Leeds is a vibrant city with a great arts scene, theatres, cinemas, music venues, galleries and plenty of bars and restaurants.
From Leeds Bradford airport there are flights throughout Europe. York is just 40 minutes away and London is just over 2 hours away by train.
I am not a hard taskmaster, however, please only come if you are prepared to complete a task not leave it half done.
A working holiday is what this is meant to be and I will do my best to help you enjoy your time here.A cracking sense of humour would h... more inside

Help required by a retired artist/writer and poet, with a young outlook and attitude who likes to paint, write, draw and read. Due to suffering from M.E. for many years, my strength and endurance are limited.
I do have a helper who does a few hours every week, but some jobs get left to pile up, like all my wardrobes, drawers need sorting out and organising as I must admit, I am not an organised person myself. In addition, my many books need sorting out and I would love a list of what I actually have! Also, I am finding it difficult at the moment to cook nourishing meals for myself, ( I eat very little meat) and my helper often doesn't have the time to do these.
I am extremely easy-going, quiet, with a good sense of humour. I rise early, go to bed at lunchtime for 2-3 hours for a much needed sleep, then up and around until between 6-7pm depending on how my health is on the day. There I watch television for a couple of hours and then read. I have a spare bedroom, with a single bed, w... more inside

We are very happy to host families with children as our children are very sociable and love to play with others. We have space for a family with up to three children (possibly more). We are considering homeschooling our children when they reach school age and would welcome home/un/world-schooling families that we can learn about this from and who could spend time helping the children learn through their interests.

We would love to learn Spanish so would welcome Spanish speakers who would be comfortable teaching the children a little Spanish through play and singing.

We are former helpXers ourselves and live in a four-bedroomed house with a largeish garden in a countryside village in Essex, 30 minutes by train from central London. We are now a family of four (Andrew and Kerri - both in our thirties, Tom and Edward - both 4). Kerri is a (sometime) primary and TEFL teacher and Andrew works in London. We'd like to offer a warm welcome to people who would like to live as part of ... more inside
