We are a couple in our 50's and we moved with 2 horses into our small holding in the Scottish Borders in April 2017. We are at the very early stages of setting this up as a facility for ethical, sustainable horse keeping, organic food production for ourselves, and eventually as a guest house for visitors to the Scottish Borders.

We have 10 acres of grazing, which includes some very wet land with natural springs, and a large garden which is divided into several areas and includes a polytunnel.

My day job is teaching people about ethical horse keeping and force-free animal training and my husband is an expert in business solutions testing. He works as a consultant for a large IT solutions and service provider. He is also a part time hypnotherapist.

We hope to welcome positive, cheerful, energetic, fit and flexible people to come and help us with all and any of the work required around the property in exchange for great vegan food, improving your English, learning about posit... more inside

Alert!! Very long listing!
We are keen green recyclers living in a large edwardian house (1904) We have had wonderful helpXers since summer 07 but the house and garden always needs more work!

We would like you to come initially for 2 weeks, to work in the house and garden and also to help with young foreign students who stay with us while they study at language school nearby. We need you to do the tasks that we don't have time to get done ourselves! You will mostly work alone or with another helper; you will eat with us and mealtimes are when you can chat and improve your English.

Hastings is an interesting town with many free activities going on but if your main goal is to learn English then maybe this isn't the right place for you as we are very busy and you will need to be happy working alone; this is why we suggest coming with a friend or partner although female helpers are welcome to come alone! I want to explain this as we have received negative comments from some very... more inside

We are a private house with bnb rooms, 7 tenanted cottages, extensive gardens with lakes and woodland. We need help with property maintenance, garden maintenance and general upkeep. We are in a hamlet 4 miles from the sea in a very desirable area of Dorset, the nearest town is 4 miles away. We have two very friendly dogs. No previous experience required but a practical knowledge of property maintenance and basic gardening is of major benefit. Being able to drive would be advantageous. Accommodation and meals can be provided, to be discussed. A basic understanding of English is essential but we are willing to help in any way we can. It is a very sociable busy area and would suit someone who is enthusiastic, appreciates nature and loves the countryside. We look forward to welcoming you.

We are in a beautiful part of Shropshire, close to the Welsh border and Offa's Dyke. and are quite often able to host one or maybe two people for a week or two in return for some basic gardening, painting work or simple DIY. We are quite remote and there is not much public transport, but if you want to have some peace and quiet and some lovely walks, it might suit you. Those aged over 25 who have a current, clean driving licence and no insurance claims can use one of our cars as long as you are comfortable with manual gear change and driving on the left. Otherwise there are bikes (electric and ordinary) to get to Knighton, which is the nearest town six miles away. This October, Di is away in Africa on business so I have a long list of jobs in the garden to get done, therefore I am looking for a person or couple who are fairly handy and OK lifting things. The closest main centre is Ludlow.

We run glamping accommodation with 20 acres of land, four acres of which are woodland. We are looking for help with outside jobs. These include: wood collecting and splitting, laying new paths, digging, strimming, mowing, gardening, replacing fence posts, painting, etc.

We are 'off grid' and have been for 26 years so know quite a lot about alternative energy - happy to pass on knowledge! The business and our life style are very sustainable (we've won awards!) moving here for 'the good life'.

We are in a very rural location with great views of the countryside. the nearest shop is 3 miles away - so having a car is advisable. Lots to do in the area - lovely beaches about half an hour's drive away, plenty of castles etc. Mobile phone reception is good but limited internet (available in the house but not in the accommodation).

In exchange for 3 hours work a day we will provide accommodation in one of our yurts or a tipi and supply breakfast but not evening meal. Cooking ... more inside
