We are a family of 6: mum, 4 children, aged 13, 14, 19 and 24, and grandmother. The two oldest children have flown the nest and only return home once in a while. We live in an old farmhouse (built 1920s) on a beautiful lifestyle block of 1.6 hectares in rural Whangarei.

We are vegetarian/vegan and we love animals: 1 horse, 12 pet sheep, 1 cow with calf, 1 dog, 2 cats, 6 chickens and a rooster live with us on our land.

We can accommodate one person or a couple.
The type of work that typically needs doing includes jobs such as weeding, digging over the vegetable garden, planting, house cleaning, painting, etc. You’ll have plenty of free time to explore this beautiful area of New Zealand.

The helper/s (1 person or a couple) must have their own transport as we live rural and there is no public transport to and from our house.

There is plenty to see and do around Whangarei: Explore our many beautiful beaches, forests, bush and nature walks. You can also visit historical s... more inside

We are a retired couple living on the Tutukaka Coast, 30km from Whangarei.
The Tutukaka Coast area has good beaches for swimming, another for surfing, the Poor Knights Islands Marine reserve which is known internationally as a top diving spot, and also several good walks and Reserves.

We enjoy the opportunity to share time and experiences with those visiting NZ and have hosted visitors through both Helpx and Wwoof NZ over the last 6 years

Although at present we would like a couple (early-mid 20's preferably) primarily to assist with building & finishing off a retaining wall, help is also required with other odd bits and pieces; including but not limited to, cleaning and repainting and with the gardens.
If you are interested in sharing and helping us please contact us and we will let you know whether we can host you or not (you will need to give us dates that would suit you)

This is currently available during January and February 2019.

We live on a 90 acre beef and sheep farm, surrounded by stunning panoramic views, only 15 minutes from Whangarei. We both work during the week and would need some help with light farm work, gardening and building.

What we offer: Horse riding (beginners welcome). If you have your own transport, we are close to both coasts and the Waipoua forest and only 2 and a half hours away from Auckland. We are situated in a kiwi conservation reserve (you can hear them at night if you get lucky!). We are near the kiwi house in Whangarei if you want to see one. There are lots of beautiful hikes and areas to explore around our property.

We are friendly and fun, so make sure you pack up your sense of humour in your backpack!

We encourage helpers to stay for a week, and we would like you to work for 4 hours a day in exchange for meals and accommodation (2 queensize beds, own bathroom and private from the rest of the house). The house is modern and warm in winter, cool in summer.

We live in a rural area, 15 minutes from Whangarei / Kamo. We are renovating an old cottage on our property to make into a bed and breakfast with a studio to host visiting artists. We can use any skills and what you don't know we will show you!

Work is flexible to suit yours and our needs. About 4 hours a day, but you can combine 2 days (8 hours) then have a day off travelling (or whatever). We can guide you and point you in the right direction, what to see in our beautiful area.

You should have your own transport as we live rural. Prefer stays of about 2 weeks, we will discuss everything to make it easy for you.
We are a non-smoking family and have 3 very friendly dogs, so you must be ok with dogs.

Meals are often on the deck where we eat together with sweeping views in a relaxed family friendly atmosphere. Accommodation is in the nearly finished bed & breakfast cottage, or a room with en-suite in the main house depending on bookings. Wifi is free in the main house but... more inside

Kia Ora Help Exchangers. John and Darwin are living on a 20 ha rural life-style property on the wild West Coast, just 15 km south-west of Te Kopuru (see map) and Dargaville (Northland). Darwin had a career in America in medical research and was a medical school professor. John is from Denmark and had a career in hotels and customer service. We both now have artistic hobbies. John does textiles and Darwin spends time doing artworks in clay and wood. We have had a number of HelpX come to visit and work with us over the past several years (see the reviews).

We have two girl Siberian Huskies in our home that help reduce the feral possum population on the property.

We are looking for HelpX workers/guests that are capable of supervised and/or unsupervised outdoor work on the property that would include brush clearance, earthwork building trails to the beach, and general outdoor works and some housework (spring cleaning). We have a great workshop for artwork if you are interes... more inside

Seeking helper interested in free accomodation, food and learning about sailing in exchange for help with childcare.

I'm looking for an organized and easy going person who is honest, sensitive and empathetic. You will be living with us on board a 52' sailboat, sailing around Northland. Mainly helping us care for my 10 year old special needs son and some light boat work as well. Previous experience with special needs children preferred but not required. This will be a challenging, unique and rewarding experience for the right person.

Hi there travellers. I am a single dad that works full time in the building industry. What I am seeking here is someone that can babysit/Nanny my girls when they get home from school and clean. Cooking skills would be great but I'm happy to cook too, but would love to try something new from another country. I'm pretty easy going and chilled and enjoy a beer or wine after work.
Note...I would prefer woman as I don't really want random men around my girls.
If your keen to experience a small beach town in New Zealand and are happy to look after kids after school hours, clean etc then flick me an email or message.

Look forward to hearing from you.
Regards Chad
