Hi

We are heading into the joys of spring and summer and are looking for all sorts of help. We are a small lodge with a restaurant and bar in the middle of the Pelorus Sounds. The help required is varied, and weather dependent, so we are looking for people who are flexible and who don't mind trying new things. Examples of what helpers have done so far, are things like helping with visiting tourists, helping in the restaurant, and housekeeping, upgrading the paths, landscaping, and improving some of the facilities. The rewards are many. The location is perfect if you enjoy hiking, fishing, kayaking, or swimming. We have seen orca and dolphin in our bay as well as rather beautiful stingray. There is also a lot of birdlife. It is just a beautiful and remote part of the world. You have to see it to fully appreciate it. If you are interested in helping any time from October on, please message me, but please note because we live in a place that is off grid with no roads ( access on... more inside

Our property is a quaint cottage and a separate 2 bedroom and bathroom sleepout, right on the water's edge. You can not drive to our place, you need to come by boat. It is a 20 minute boat trip from Picton. You can arrange to get a ride with us when we are going in and out twice a week, or come by water taxi which is 30- 45 dollars.
You can also drive to Onahau jetty and we can collect you, a 2 minute boat trip. There is limited parking on the side of the road by the jetty.
We are surrounded by native bush and have access to the Queen Charlotte Walking track. Swimming, fishing and kayaking are some of the leisure time activities available.
We provide all meals in exchange for 4 hours work a day.
We require help with weeding, firewood stacking, painting and housework.

Gardening in Waikawa, Picton and explore the Marlborough Sounds, New Zealand.

We are a couple with cat and dog who moved to Waikawa, Marlborough Sounds in 2015. We have a 36 foot launch and love to get away to explore the Marlborough Sounds.

The Marlborough Sounds in summer is warm and in winter is lovely, no wind and generally perfect days. Come and explore the Marlborough Sounds with free accommodation (your own room and separate bathroom) and food. We are a few minutes walk from Waikawa Bay and have a bike for your use.

We are planting natives in an area in Waikawa and need help doing this. The work involved is weeding, cutting back and planting natives. The work is physical and you will need to use gardening tools and your muscles. Our preferred length of stay is a week with 4-5 hours work per day, 5 days per week. House work may be an option if its raining hard.

The photos include some from before we started in 2015 through to natives growing well in 2018.

You will get a very warm welcome here, its nice to meet people from all over the world, helpers who have any experience working with horses would be great, but anyone willing to help is welcome.
