Welcome to the beautiful Daylesford region! We are Jill and Phil. We have relocated to the picturesque town of Ballan from South Australia where we were active hosts for many years.
The property has enormous garden areas that constantly need clearing and tidying and we always have new projects in mind. At the moment we are developing an eclectic accommodation compound for a new business venture. I (Jill) cook for local cafes and do larger catering jobs and always need a hand in the kitchen.

We grow veggies and have many pets - 3 goats, 1 alpaca, 3 sheep 7 chickens, 2 Muscovy ducks, 4 guinea fowl, a cat (Misty) who rules the house. A new Puppy, Daisy, had just arrived...and she is trying to be number one.

There will always be plenty to do - even just a lazy house sit from time to time as we do go back to Adelaide a lot. Ballan is well situated with transport in Western Victoria and there is a train directly to/from Melbourne which takes under an hour. Close by In either dire... more inside

Hi,

I live on a small property, 5 acres, in Northern Victoria between Kyneton and Castlemaine.

I am looking to establish a food forest to create a more self-sufficient and sustainable life. So if you are interested in coming to stay for a bit, your tasks would include weeding, preparing garden beds, moving soil and general gardening.

My expectation would be at least 4 hours of work in exchange for food and board. Open to you doing more work on days to have days off and happy to show you around the area. Please note that only vegetarian meals will be offered, as I am vegetarian.

You would have your own room in the house.

My home is also shared by Max the dog, 5 chickens and 5 sheep.

Get in contact if this sounds like it is for you.

Current vacancy for single person or couple (July 2020)

We live on a 5 acre rural block in Yapeen, Central Victoria. Yapeen is a great mix of quiet countryside within easy access to the historic goldfields and artistic hub of Castlemaine. We are owner builders and in the process of finishing a unique, off grid house. Our block has a diversity of native grasses, some large remnant trees, an abundance of reptiles and birds, resident frogs and visiting kangaroos.

We have lots of plans and are in need of extra hands to get things done, but also keen for good company and to learn from and teach others. Work we need help with is maintaining and improving the biodiversity on the block (weeding, native plant propagation, planting and watering revegetation patches and making wildlife habitat such as nesting boxes), house/shed building, animal fencing and gardening Ė we have an orchard and a large vegetable garden. We use organic methods only and implement permaculture concepts wheneve... more inside

I love being a HelpX host! It is so much fun to meet people from other places and other cultures. I have met some of the most wonderful people, some who are now life-long friends. Previously I lived in North Sydney, I have moved to Manly Beach. And now Iíve just bought a house in the Victorian High Country. The little picturesque hamlet of Stanley is just a 10 minute drive from Historic Beechworth. Victoria.

I am wondering if there are any interested helpxers looking to help me do some interior house painting prep such as washing the bedroom walls ... and Later on Permaculture gardening.

I will be back there in my new home on July 20 to bring my furniture there from Sydney. Update: I have cancelled this trip as I am no longer able to cross the border from NSW to Victoria until August.

Tip: Please upload a photo to your profile, it really helps a host get a feel for the helper!

**** Updated 13 July 2020****

Small family of 3 looking for a person or couple to help with day to day tasks around the house and yard.

We have recently moved to a small property just outside metropolitan Melbourne (not impacted by the current restrictions in Melbourne). Our home is already well set up but we need some help to make it perfect for us. Jobs we need help with are attaching wire mesh to existing fences to keep the dogs / chickens / horses separated, basic gardening (mostly weeding and later maybe helping plant some veggies), feeding and looking after the animals (chickens, rabbit, horses, dogs).

Somebody with experience with horses would be great but this is not at all essential.

We live 50 minutes from Melbourne city by train in the town of Riddells Creek.

4-5 hours per day (20-25 hours per week) in exchange for room and all meals. Min stay 2 weeks please.

I look forward to hearing from you.
