Skilled/unskilled helpers sought to assist with self-sustaining conversion of an 17th century cornmill. Jobs will include excavation of wheelpit, restoration of oak roof structure, reslating, lime-based masonry & internal rendering; and civil works for a hydro turbine. Stunning riverside setting by Ullswater in the English Lake district. Provisioned camping available with indoor camp-kitchen and composting toilet. No shower facilities at present, so camping best from May to October (the mill is at 1000ft/300m). We are looking for independent individuals/couples happy to commit to four six-hour days' work per week (weather dependent!), with the remainder free to explore. The mill is 5 miles from our home so helpers will need to be self-contained, resourceful and happy living off-grid in a remote location. The local pub (500m away) has free wifi, but there is no phone signal or internet access on site. Nearest shops are in Glenridding (3.5 miles). Bikes and extra camping gear availabl... more inside

I will not currently be needing any volunteers until Spring 2019 at the earliest.

Shoreham by Sea is on the south coast 6 miles west of Brighton. The houseboat moorings are on tidal mudflats and accessible from the towpath. The sea is less than 200 yards and is popular with kite and windsurfers.

The work is all involved with the maintenance and renovation of historic boats which are mostly used as houseboat accommodation. I use a minimum of new materials, aiming to create environment friendly, aesthetically pleasing and ergonomically functional living spaces. I currently am responsible for 7 boats over 30 foot and struggling with the work load. The joy of working with houseboats, (especially ours where we own our mooring plots) is that they are not subject to planning permission or buildings regulations. This allows for freedom in design which has greatly influenced my constructional style.

My design criteria are both aesthetic and engineered. I like to think my work has ... more inside

Hi there Helpers,
We would like to invite 2 people into our home that are genuinely looking for a true cultural exchange with a young british american family. We need help caring for our two young boys and keeping the house clean and tidy. We would like you not just to come help us out but to truly become part of our family and want to BE with us, not on your phones all day or tucked away in your bedroom. We hope to build a relationship with you and stay in touch even after you leave.

We are an international couple from England and America (Mark and Amaris) and recently had 2 little boys :) in 2017 (Teodor "Teddy") and 2018 (Alexander "Alè"). We have traveled far and wide and have now chosen to settle down for a bit in a small village, south of Cambridge, UK. Mark works with computers and Amaris has a part time job but mostly works from home and cares for the boys. We have no pets at this time but hope next year to get a small dog.

We are a couple from Cornwall who are helping to run the family's small holding. We are fun loving, hard working individuals who are enjoying implementing Permaculture designed buildings, allotment, polytunnel, animal areas, forest garden and ponds. We have a large variety of projects on the go from building sheds to 12v solar/wind systems and rocket mass heaters to apple tree guilds. We are interested in planting edible/medicinal plants and already have some on the go ready to harvest for tintures! Our work varies between building, gardening, animals and holiday lets. Exciting :)
Nick normally works full-time at home finishing and experimenting with new ideas whilst Rosie works full-time as a primary school teacher.
Nicks family also live at home, so there's always lots going on and we often eat communally :)

Accommodation is in a cosy caravan with a beautiful view, surrounded by trees.
Our key aim is to put projects in place and then educate about the many benefits of l... more inside

We have recently purchased the iconic Golden Hind museum and are looking for volunteers to join us in the beautiful fishing town of Brixham, Devon.

The Golden Hind at Brixham is a full sized replica of one of the most iconic ships from the age of exploration. The Ship has been a feature of picturesque Brixham harbour for over fifty years, entertaining and educating thousands of visitors during this time - as well as being featured on many tv programmes and films. The Ship is open from spring to autumn come rain or shine and is an all-weather attraction with indoor displays as well as wide open decks.

A striking landmark in Brixham, every visitor on board contributes to the restoration and maintenance of the Ship, ensuring that 'Brixham's Treasure' will continue to enhance Brixham's beautiful Quayside for future generations...

PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME OF THE PHOTOS ARE UPSIDE DOWN AND THERE IS NO WAY TO CHANGE THIS. Even tried rotating the photos before uploading but always end up upside down whichever way they are uploaded??? Anyway hope you can mange by turning screen around. Photo of the farm in Wales is fine for some reason. It is the third photo and is not actually where you will be staying but it is possible to visit sometimes. The other photos are of the allotment and double room in Liverpool where you will be staying.

Double room available in cute three bedroom house. We have a large allotment near to the house where we grow organic vegetables. We also have a beautiful and historic mountain farm in the Snowdonia National Park which we visit occassionally now, it is a great place for a retreat to get away from everything and soak up the fresh air. We grow organic fruit for our own consumption but do not currently have any animals. We also have 23 acres of woodland to manage. It is not viable to... more inside

Hi we could do with a couple of helpers next spring / early 2019 with wood and cobbing skills. Our daughters straw bale round house needs some attention. Our home is an old farmhouse, we have no animals but plenty of garden to look after, and yurt. Cooking skills making the occasional meal would be great. Our village is rural and is approx. 2 miles from the coast. Our website and helpers reviews will give you some idea about us. We are experienced hosts, long time 'greens' and in exchange for your help we hopefully offer you a happy, comfortable stay here in Lincolnshire. Hope to hear from you soon.
We are looking to host for 7-10 days.
