UPDATE...most of the horses have now gone, help still required to sort the place and help with the rest being moved on. Sadly no help found in time.

...set in the beautiful countryside just on the Welsh border. Close to areas of special scientific interest, meres, mosses and canals. Also commutable to the Welsh coast for days off if required.

We farm in a mostly organic way, sheep, poultry, rescued horses and rescued dogs. We would like help from people with abilities in construction, fencing or logging or those who wish to care for the animals. Please note that we do expect a fair exchange of hours for board. we are not able to run a hotel service for unwilling helpers as this is a charitable organisation and food and facilities are not free. Please note this is a non-smoking site due to insurance and safety.
Our gardens and hedgerows are left for the benefit of the many rare birds and insects. We have a large sett of badgers who can be seen by camping nearby.

A 200 year old cotswold stone house located in a small village near Stroud. It has a good size garden on a slope with woodland above and is located in a conservation area within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty backing on to the Toadsmoor valley. The house is 20 mins walk from Stroud town centre and has recently undergone major refurbishment which is still ongoing. There are a few shops in the village as well as a pub nearby. The house is surrounded with the hills and countryside on your doorstep...great for forest walks and there are lovely lakes to swim in nearby.. English, Spanish and French is spoken. Helpers stay can stay in a double room or camp in the garden if they like. We aim to work an average of 5 hours per day, 4 days p/week. I have a toddler daughter who lives with me half the week and she's very easy going and sweet. The work is varied but currently there are raised beds to make for growing vegetables, a chicken run to make, chickens to feed and care for, ... more inside

My daughter (age 18) & I live in a 5 bedroom house (building site) with a large garden & lovely views. My son (age 19) also occasionally visits from university. We need someone to help with the weeding and other gardening when the weather is fine & do some housework and DIY when it's not (especially painting). If you have any skills in painting & decorating, we could really use them right now. In return you'll have your own room, TV and WiFi and be well fed as we love cooking and baking!

You will need to be fit & strong, like hard work & preferably know the difference between a weed & a (wanted) plant. A good dash of common sense will also go a long way. Must be a non smoker & I am afraid that I cannot host vegans. Either a single person or a couple is welcome; if there are more people, please still get in touch.

Working hours would be around 4-5 hours a day, 6 days a week but this is very negotiable. Work will usually be alone unless it is the school holidays, weekend or ... more inside

We are a couple from Cornwall who are helping to run the family's small holding. We are fun loving, hard working individuals who are enjoying implementing Permaculture designed buildings, allotment, polytunnel, animal areas, forest garden and ponds. We have a large variety of projects on the go from building sheds to 12v solar/wind systems and rocket mass heaters to apple tree guilds. We are interested in planting edible/medicinal plants and already have some planted. Our work varies widely between building, gardening, animals and holiday lets depending on what needs doing at the time! Life on a small-holding requires flexibility :)

Nick normally works full-time at home finishing and experimenting with new ideas whilst Rosie is a primary school teacher.

Nicks family also live at home, so there's always lots going on and we often eat communally :)

Accommodation is in a caravan near our home and has space for you to chill out!

Our key aim is to put projects in place a... more inside

Work time: flexible and negltiable, 2 weeks to start with and we can then decide whether or not to extend stay.

Beautiful views and a lovely rural setting close to an alternative town with plenty going on (Hebden Bridge) nestled between Manchester and Leeds in the South Pennines. We are also on a bus route and near a train station.

I would love people to help me with my smallholding and meadows. I have two cows to graze the land and a flock of chickens.

There are meadows with a stream running through. The plan is to develop the meadows for wild flowers, generate woodland along the stream and create a pond area to increase biodiversity. There is also a growing veg plot and newly planted orchard.

I am not registered organic but have an organic sensibility. I follow a basic permaculture principle and am focused on resource management.

I need help with whatever I am doing. I'm usually outside (whatever the weather), removing problem plants, generally weeding, planting, painting, building dry stone walls, making paths, moving stones or working on out-buildings. If the weather is very ... more inside

Everyone needs a sense of purpose, and also the space in which to develop and grow. Here at Extons Barn I offer a range of yoga classes, courses, workshops and a yoga teacher training programme, all of which teach people to form clearer thoughts, focus their energies and so to make the most of the individual potential they have. in its peaceful rural setting, with not another house in sight and an expansive outlook over fields and hills, the venue offers the space to help people step out of past constraints and open up for new, future ideals. (You can find out more about my teaching and life philosophy on my two websites listed above.)

My house and the adjoining yoga studio are set in 1/3 acre of garden which has a healthy, untamed will of its own for abundant growth! It needs the caring hand of a human being who would like to give it some attention, order and shape. You do not need a huge amount of experience or expertise in gardening, but just an enthusiasm to work and learn. Y... more inside

Are you willing to do anything this autumn/winter? Digging out brambles, planting trees, building a fruit cage, cleaning out chickens, potting up strawberries?

We are looking for one or two people for a week or two at a time from mid-October (an extension to your stay may be possible). You will get exclusive use of our beautiful little off-grid camping hut while you are here!

Eight years ago we took a chance on a bare piece of land. Empty but for bog, rock, bracken, grassland, heather, wild flowers and trees. Long winters in a caravan while we watched our children outgrow the space and erected a polytunnel and chicken huts, created a vegetable garden, built a camping hut and a family home.

We are looking for help with our next steps as we make the land more productive. Long-term, our plan is to develop a forest garden with layers of plants producing nuts, fruit, vegetables and timber, while our pigs and chickens roam and feed beneath. A step away from traditional crofting,... more inside
