Our kennel has 34 Alaskan Huskies and is owned by Stein Havard Fjestad. We are a racing kennel and our goal is to develop each athlete to the best of their potential. We have both young dogs and racing veterans. They are all being trained to compete in Scandinavia's major sled dog races.

Competing at the highest level, also demands a high level of care: It's a full-time job, and even considered a lifestyle, to keep all four-legged athletes happy and healthy. To provide the best care, Fjestad has a support crew of handlers who help take care of the dogs, train them and assist during races.

Helpers are involved in all daily activities like training the dogs, preparing dogfood, feeding and freerunning(playtime!). In spring, summer and fall, the dogs are trained with an ATV, therefore helpers need to have a drivers license.
We are located in Tufsingdalen. A perfect place for peace-seekers and nature-lovers. Helpers will share a house together with each their own room.

We are in need of helpers urgently, from May 27th!

General description:

We are a young family of 5, Sarah (37), Tino (36), Nemi (9), Kalle (7) and Ilya (2). Living in northern Norway. Sarah is a veterinarian, Tino is a taxidermist, both are working at Malangseidet, approximately 1 km from the farm. Høier was established in 1935 as a dairy farm but all farming was abandoned in the early 1970s. We bought Høier in 2016 and re-established farming focussing on Old Norse Sheep for meat production. During the recent two years we re-built fences, re-established pasture and grasslands and changed the cow shed into a sheep shed. Re-establishing Høier is a progress that will last for more years to come, while farming grows increasingly professional.

Tasks: We are predominantly looking for helpers who share our enthusiasm for farming, outdoors work and working smaller tasks into a larger goal. We have very practical tasks to fulfil that fit into the annual schedule and appreciate help... more inside

Hi!

Thank you for considering us, but we will not need any help in 2018.

--------------
We live on a very small farm, about 30 minutes outside Bergen by car. We are a family of four, Oyvind, Silje and our two kids Simen (13 years old) and Vetle (11 years old). In autumn 2011 - February 2012 we travelled and worked together as helpers through Asia and Oceania. A great experience for the whole family!

On our small farm we have chickens and quails and maybe a few lambs i April-May. We live close to the sea and have our own boat and canoe. The area is also nice for hiking and bicycling.

We need help maintaining old buildings, painting, gardening and help with the animals. For about 5 working hours pr day, we can offer free food and accommodation in an old camping wagon with soul! You will also have your own bathroom in the main house. When staying with us you will be a part of our family :-)

For us Helpx is about exchanging experiences and learning about other cultur... more inside
