Hi! Would you like to stay in a Castle in South France?

>> WE'RE LOOKING FOR PEOPLE TO HELP US RIGHT NOW >> Starting 19th of September till mid/end of October. We're working on a roof project, and looking for 2 persons; one handy and not afraid of heights (off course the work will be fully secured), and another person that will stay on the ground, and put the needed materials on the lift.
>> Another possibility to help in the kitchen from 17-27th of September

There's always something to do in and around this beautiful, but demanding building. Depending on what projects we're working on it would be greatly appreciated if you can help with, for example, general maintenance, painting, garden maintenance, cleaning or cooking. If you like working in the garden, the caretakers have organic vegetable- herb- and flower gardens. And then there is the furry and feathery part of the family; chickens, a sheep, a dog and cats of the castle.

My name is Nana, I'm from the Netherlands and... more inside

Leaf and I live in an old cottage on the edge of a small ridge-top village within an hour's drive of the Pyrenees. Our lifestyle is as eco as we can make it. We mainly need help with gardening, furniture painting and organising our garage for a sale. Leaf has Alzheimer's but is otherwise physically very fit. He enjoys walking, companionship and discussion on a wide range of subjects, despite some confusion here and there! I appreciate help in the kitchen. We are ovo-vegan and eat predominately organic food. The atmosphere is informal, creative and laid-back. Our garden is well-established and productive and needs to be kept under control. I am a writer/blogger, currently endeavouring to organise the material for a guide to living in SW France (after 30 years of residence). We have one cat, Pepe and there's Monty, our adorable young dog, who we rescued from living in a ditch. Originally from the UK, we both speak French and Leaf is fluent in Spanish, I have some German.

Please read what we have to offer. Be sure to understand that we are a BnB as well as a little Centre de Bien-être (well being center with yoga sauna and holistic well being massages) and it works ! We are in the process of converting an old stone barn into a house for us to live in. This involves stone work, carpentry, plasterboarding, etc. You would be living and eating with us, either in our house or in our holiday cottage next door. You would have your own room. You would need a car, as the nearest town is 15 minutes away, although, if you are happy being in a sleepy little village, we could take you to the supermarket once a week. You wouldn't, necessarily, need any building experience, although this would, obviously, be an advantage. We speak English and French.

Hello travelers,
I am the proud owner of a historic castle from the 15th century, situated in the middle of the countryside of Burgundy.
If the building is habitable as it is, the gardens and grounds require substantial work that I can not carry out alone.
The walls need to be stripped of their invasiveness ivy, dry stone walls of the paths are partially collapsed, trails are not passable overgrown, fruit plantations are to be undertaken, etc. ...
Accommodation in the castle or in tents, bicycles available, wireless internet.
If you have skills in wood or building you are more than welcome.

The Next Operation of tree planting is scheduled from 24th October till 8 November 2020.
September,October open.
.
We are relatively isolated 10 km from shops and 40 minutes north of Dijon.
Simplicity, sincerity.

Bonjour,

Thank you for visiting my page and happy you decided to find a place to stay in our nice region of Alsace. I live in this traditional farm from the 19th century, at the feet of "Parc regional des vosges du nord", in a small typical alsacian village, Schalkendorf with my daughter and sometimes friends who stay for some short to long period.
Accessible by car and train (25 minutes from Strasbourg), the place is nice and quiet. We have a cat, chickens, a German shepherd and a Cane Corso and 2 ecological permaculture garden.
In am in an ecological renovation process of the house and we have here set up different activities that we will be happy to share with travelers...
I am close to nature and most of the meals are vegetarian or vegan but we can go to the shop if you really want some good meat and it is possible to cook some.
From September 2020:

- We manage a permaculture garden
- We will finish the main floor of the house (ceiling, flooring, walls...

OUR PROJECT = Rehabilitation of a old stone farmhouse in the forest/ working on our vegetable garden & creating water bassins

As a family we started to change our life style to a more responsible one ( re-use of materials, less waste, vegetarian food). We are learning continuously and like to share experiences and pass a message to our kids.

We are converting a small (abandoned for over 60 yrs) farmhouse into a sustainable living accommodation. We love to share our experience with people who would like to share their experiences with us in return.

Some of our kids are regularly wooffing in other parts of the world.

We live in the South of France between Provence and Ardèche area at the border of the "Cevennes" mountains/natural park area. A beautiful natural environment, but not isolated. We have two little goats, cats and chicken and a friendly dog called 'Noek'. There is lively family atmosphere with kids from 11 to 23 years old. Mixed culture (Dutch, French) a... more inside

We prefer to speak French as not all of us speak English. We're very happy to help those who enjoy practising their French conversation, however rudimentary. Written communication is fine in English if it's easier.

We live on 2.5 hectares of meadow and woodland in the hills around the beautiful mountain of Bugarach.

We have quite a low impact way of life with compost/dry toilets, 12v renewable power and a vegetable garden that provided most of our food. The mains water supply is very restricted but we do have a beautiful roll-top firebath in the beginnings of a bathroom (another project) that overlooks the mountains. .

We live quite close to/amongst nature & spend a lot of time outside. We have a cabin for the family & there is a cabin (small), caravan (large) & tents for friends & HelpXers. We also have a levelled clearing that has been used for Yurts & Tipis - so if you have one bring it along!

Our projects are mainly centred around ecological construction, including... more inside

We are Catherine & Donald Flatt, a semi-retired couple with a house and gite in a beautiful rural location on the Cherbourg Peninsula. We are 2.5km from the town of Gavray, one hour south of the Normandy landing beaches. We have two dogs - a Springer Spaniel and a Yorkshire Terrier - four chickens, two rabbits and a kitten and a baby tortoise. We need someone to help with general chores, gardening and some painting/decorating/DIY but the work would not be heavy. You would sleep in the gite attached to the main house, which has its own kitchen, sitting room, TV, WiFi and en-suite bathroom.
