Looking for kind animal lover to learn more about horses by helping in our stable.

Our farm: I am a semi retired horse professional with very nice facility. We live rural and have cows, chickens, pigs, dogs, cats and of course horses. This property has been in my husbands family for generations. He has both experience with crop farming and raising livestock. We are currently renting out most of our farm land. Over the years I have taught many people horse-back riding and horse husbandry. I have a life long back ground in training and competing with horses in dressage. I embrace natural horsemanship, and maintain my own horses feet as a barefoot trimmer.
We both enjoy meeting new people and sharing knowledge and experiences. you will live in our home and be part of the family.

We are looking for someone to help with normal day to day life on a farm. The perfect person loves animals in general, and has the desire to gain more horse knowledge and experience from this opportuni... more inside

So what's the story with our farm?

Well, it's a farm whose caretakers are working to enact just that…a new story! We believe that virtually all of the problems that come with civilization stem from people believing the predominant cultural story which says we are "above" or "separate" from nature. This story that is omnipresent in our culture tells us that the natural laws of nature are not applicable to us.

New Story Farm is a regenerative farm, one that is growing in the direction of an agrarian intentional community.

We share the land with Daniel's parents. They live in the house and we live in the garage while we are building a small dwelling that will serve as a communal space. It will be mostly ready by Spring 2019.

For now, we are seeking persons wanting to come for 2 weeks up to 2 months at a time to help us with growing veggies and caring for the perennials. We holistically raise cows, chickens and pigs too.

We have an ex post truck with queen bed you may... more inside

Greetings, traveler! We are a 34-acre, privately owned oasis of oak and pine forest, savanna, and native prairie among a rolling sea of fields in northeast Iowa, four miles from the picturesque town of Le Claire on the banks of the Mississippi. All manner of Midwest birds, bees, butterflies, and wildlife make their homes on our land.

Our guiding vision is to restore, regenerate, and heal ourselves, our community, and the land, learning from the wisdom embedded within the native ecology. Every day we strive to realize through action what Aldo Leopold called the “Land Ethic,” which “simply enlarges the boundaries of the community to include soils, waters, plants, and animals, or collectively: the land.” We are dedicated to restoring and preserving this native habitat, and looking for folks to come help us in our mission.

“We” are Tony and Joyce, owners who enjoy meeting new people and making them feel welcome.

We’re looking for folks enthusiastic about doing conservation wor... more inside

Rolling hills with woods, fields, prairie, wetland, ponds, river, gardens, hedgerows, and pasture make up the 65 acre farm we transformed from the rented monoculture fields we purchased in 1988. Certified Permaculture Design. 2 miles of trail. We raise chickens, geese, perennials: asparagus, rhubarb, apples, pears, cherries, hazelnuts, black walnut, herbs, self-seeders like cilantro, arugula, and black raspberries galore! We also have begun apricots, aronia, goji berry, service berry, paw-paws, and persimmons. We sell hay and geese. We supplement our diet with the other foods. We share the farm with a 30 year old, retired horse, a St. Bernard, 4 affectionate cats, 15 chickens, and 30+ geese. We leave a wild area of undeveloped permaculture (zone 5 ) for wild turkeys, otters, mink, squirrels, ground hogs, raccoons, foxes, chipmunks, deer, ducks, sandhill cranes, frogs, blue herons, turtles and other critters. We offer you wholesome, plentiful, fresh food. We eat meat and ... more inside

We are a Biodynamic and Certified Naturally Grown farm. The farm is 20 acres, with land in pasture, cover crop, orchard, about 3 acres in vegetables, 3 acres in wheat, greenhouse for market plants and transplants, and some fruits, elderberries, and flowers. We sell at the farmers market up to three times per week. The grain is sold to a local bakery, as well as selling wheat berries and flour at market.

We are located in west Michigan, about 30 min North of Grand Rapids and 30 min East of Lake Michigan, with its sand beaches, in an orchard region know as the Fruit Ridge.

We have a very holistic approach to farming and use many biodynamic methods. Our farm goals include self sufficiency, environmental sustainability, creating a full circle farm system, efficiency, making our small farm profitable enough to pay the bills, and enjoying life. We value a peaceful, balanced and harmonious environment, and welcome those who also want to live a peaceful, conflict-free existence.
