Green Building project using the cordwood masonry technique. This building will be an energy efficient, green, art studio.

I am a printmaker/papermaker/bookmaker eager to move my equipment in and have folks join me in the studio for creating and learning.

This is year 9 of the project- the timber framing is up, all the cordwood walls are complete, sub flooring on first and second floor is in, metal roof is on and the first floor has electric, ceiling fans and lighting and vinyl plank flooring is all done!

Help is needed to install plumbing for the two bathrooms and kitchen, dig trenches for a water and sewer lines and run electrical wires to the second floor outlets. Three dead trees need to be cut down.Bringing your own chain saw is a plus.

I live in a small village about a forty minute drive from St Louis, on 4 fishing lakes, in a 670 sq. ft. log cabin next to the building site. I can provide sleeping bag space in the studio. You would share the kitchen and one bath... more inside

We need your help to make this a sanctuary, sustainable not only to the ecosystem, but financially as well. There is a lot of work to do but there is even more fun to be had. 37 beautiful acres, towering oaks, historic barns, fireflies, campfires, starry nights, a swimming pond and a positive loving community.

Come camp on the Sugar creek. I have been living primitive in a one room cabin here on the edge of town for about a year now. This place isn't for the faint of heart but comfortable and home to me. I am on the electric grid but the only running water is in the creek. There's an outhouse for, well, you know, and I'll heat a pot of water on the cinder block rocket stove to bath or just wash up in the creek. Part of what I'm working on this summer is water filtration and solar heating. Last summer I spent a lot of time landscaping and working on getting the place remodeled inside and out. I am trying to salvage waste materials where possible and follow a philosophy that makes beauty out of what others see as garbage. I'm looking for people that might be interested in helping with anything from pouring concrete to painting, to coming up with cool ideas of your own. I don't really mind if you just want to stay a day or two and camp and relax either though. We can practice Tai Chi and yo... more inside

ABOUT US:
We are a family of 11, 9 siblings, living in our natural-built cordwood home and working our 50 acre homestead in the upper peninsula of Michigan. We support ourselves with an online Etsy shop where we sell rustic wedding items, toys and gifts. We range in age from 27 - 8, although most of us are in our 20's. We've been raised with big gardens, lots of land and animals--yep, living the good life! We believe in a life that is peaceful, abundant, natural, wholesome and fun; a place to be truly happy and deeply satisfied. We have a lot of ideas and projects planned for our space of love this summer--always a work in progress! We work hard and play hard, though not always in that order ;). We make sure we leave plenty of time for volleyball, swimming, music, good food, board games, bike rides, horse rides and bonfires on the beach. And though we're not short of hands, we thought it would be fun to share our summer with others who would enjoy disappearing into the middle of no... more inside

We are a year-round home of spiritual renewal nestled in the serene North Woods of Michigan. We are looking for hearty souls to join us for an experience you won’t soon forget! Opportunities are available serving in the garden, in the kitchen, assisting in day-to-day operations of our yoga retreat, and gaining professional experience by helping to coordinate our annual summer yoga festival. All sincere seekers of truth with a desire to live and serve with love in their hearts are encouraged to apply.

Founded in 1970 by Yogacharya Oliver Black, at the behest of his guru, Paramahansa Yogananda (best known for writing Autobiography of a Yogi). Since that time we have welcomed “all truth thirsty souls” to gather together on this sacred property for immersion in a balanced yogic lifestyle that includes meditation, devotion, and work performed in a spirit of selfless service. As such, we offer year-round work-exchange positions, and open our doors for groups and individuals to come exp... more inside
