I am an architect and Scuba Instructor, that recently became the proud owner of two side by side historic buildings in historic downtown area of St Croix in the US Virgin Islands. The buildings were built in 1770 during the Danish colonization and are in extremely good conditions. We need help for the renovation and restoration process to turn the building in a holiday apartment rental villa.
We need experienced carpenters, masons, electricians and plumbers.
We pretend to cover one big panel with graffiti art, so if you are an graffiti artist, we would also love to hear from you. We offer shared accommodation in one of the apartments in the building, right downtown, close to all the bars and restaurants. Food will be provided by us and prepared by yourself. Other food arrangements can be done once the team is on location.
It is a unique opportunity to be part of the restoration of one of the first buildings in the island, still standing.
I am able to provide shelter, food and d... more inside

NOTE: We have last minute space this summer of 2017!

ABOUT US: We are a small eco-bed and breakfast in the El Yunque rainforest of Puerto Rico. Deep in the rainforest. We rent villas to guests from all over the world who are interested in staying in the rainforest. When volunteers stay they are part of the family and eat with us, mostly vegetarian and fish.

We are gradually trying to make our place more sustainable. We built a large fish pond with a filtration tank that grows watercress. Our construction is from recycled materials and our energy use is as minimal as possible. We collect some of our own water (fairly easy in the rainforest).

HELP WE NEED: We are a working bed and breakfast and are continually making structural or garden improvements. There are paying guests at all times on the property so we cannot work or make any noise at night or in the mornings before the guests go out hiking in the rainforest. Our schedule is always working around the guests. We are n... more inside

We are a family of three, Wesly, Berthe and our daughter Christy, who run a school here in Cap-Haitien since 2008.
We share our home with the school, which currently has six classrooms, for the six classes who currently attend the school.
As we were living and working here before we started the school, we saw how many children did not have the possibility to attend school, and this made us decide we wanted to help the children of our country and invest in our future in this way, to help us all move forward together. That is what has brought us to where we are today, and so far, so good! We are now only looking forward to growing more together, even sharing it with a more international community.

We are a school for children between the ages 3-12 years old, operating from a small compound in Cap-Haitien, in the north of Haiti.

What we look for in terms of volunteers, are people who can help us with teaching and language practice with the children, primarily English and French... more inside
