I have three children that need some supervision for homework and who I would like to expose to other languages. My wife has a severe illness and is generally not around. We split our time between a city home in Johannesburg and the farm Lovedale in the eastern Cape Province in the Stormberg (near Queenstown). On the farm we have cattle, horses, chickens and vegetables and I am trying to get into hydroponics. I have a small hydroponics set up at the city house at the moment.

We are currently looking for volunteers who have a creative artistic side to help us in November / beginning of December. We need help to set up and decorate our new library, do signage painting or help with building repairs. There won't be any teaching during this time as schools will be closed.

Our education centre is based in a rural village in Transkei, Eastern Cape, South Africa. We need volunteers to assist us with our teaching projects in surrounding junior schools which we work with. Volunteers can assist young children with reading and basically bring spoken English into the classroom. A TEFL background would be valuable but not essential.
You need to be able to communicate in English and we encourage you to be creative in ideas to share in the classroom.

A school day starts at 8 and ends at 2 with a lunch hour but you would not be expected to teach the whole day. Students visit us in the afternoons for extra lessons.

Multi-purpose project combining a home and care for people with special needs, specifically the mentally disabled youth and adults, with organic farming. Our organic farm is growing continuously, as is the garden and the home itself...we are always short of helping hands!
We are situated in one of the poorest areas of the Eastern Cape in South Africa, the rural former Transkei.
One hour away from Elliotdale, 8km from the indian ocean and Cwebe Nature Reserve.
A chance to see and live within one of the last rural Xhosa Villages!
Building season here is from April to September, which is when we are in need of construction-experienced people; there's always something to be built in dry season, whether it may be additions to the farm or houses. We also receive donations of timber each year, and basically create all our furniture, stables, roofs etc. from this wood. So, to all handyman, farmers and carpenters- please lend a hand!
