We have a smallholding in a beautifully scenic area. Right now we need help creating a large wildlife pond, most of the digging is done, but the edges still need adjustment so if you want to come play ponds, dig some and probably get wet then this could be fun. We are also looking for someone with gardening skills to take on the veg garden for the season, seed sowing starts around March, through to the last harvests in the autumn. For the first two weeks of may we need people who like to clean and paint. There are also numerous carpentry jobs and non specific tasks. Also anyone with natural building skill, there may be a project for you. Accommodation is basic and there are compost toilets. would possibly suit 2 travelling together. Good English is essential.

Cottage/wannabe smallholding with large garden/chicken run/polytunnel

I've just moved into this wonderful property and am doing some renovations on the house to make it ready to BnB next year. I am interested in applying as much permaculture principles as possible and making the place a beautiful respite for visiting urban dwellers.

I also have a small business selling organic vegetable plants, herbs and wheatgrass. So the garden is getting a bit neglected and I would love some help to get it under control and producing more food. Help in the house would also be appreciated - cooking, decorating, painting, cleaning, woodwork etc.

Accommodation is within the house and relatively basic. The cottage is open plan and bathrooms are shared so would not suit someone overly fond of their privacy. There are lots of animals around too.

Work would be 4 hours a day for 5 days of the week. the cottage is a walking distance from the busy market town of skibbereen, a few miles from th... more inside

Just under an acre of land. Some fruit trees and bushes and a neglected veg patch. For this year the area needs some landscaping , tidying and spring sowing and planting.i'm also hoping to get a polytunnel so may need help to get that started. Perhaps may create a moveable hen run. I'm also exploring permaculture design and encouraging some wild plants. That said I'm still grass-cutting for now.
Accommodation is provided in my home. Vegetarian food is provided and we may share cooking. 4 hours garden work is generally in the morning but this time is flexible and may depend on the weather.. I've a great love of the nearby Burren and play some traditional music so helpers will experience this. I'm outside town so if you want to explore independently you'll need transport.
I speak english, irish, french and am working on spanish.
Autistic people are particularly welcome if your sensory needs can be accommodated.
Look forward to hearing from you!
Joan

Hello, I'm looking for help around the garden, landscaping, finishing a shed conversion, stonework, paving etc., lots of little projects that need finishing - and some inside stuff too if that appeals. I am looking at hosting for short term stays, between 3 days and a week, or sharing helpxers with some friends. I think I'm reasonably easy going, but would like people to be able to work independently and to be clear communicators.

I have a relatively eco house, with a compost toilet and grass roof. It's about 5 miles out of the village in a very beautiful part of the country, near the sheep's Head walking trail.
I can offer a bedroom or a lawn to camp on.
I play music, so musicians welcome, I can throw a guitar lesson or two into the exchange.

I will be in Greece over Easter and it will be the second week in May before I'm able to host anybody - but then I could really use some help getting this place ready for the Summer!

I look forward to meeting you. Catherine

Easy going place to learn and practice English language skills. This is a small farm with a large barn, other outbuildings, a mobile home and a bungalow. TV, wifi, bicycles, barbecue, hot-water, showers etc. all on site. Food and cooking facilities provided. Beautiful spot during the summer months with lots of wildlife including hawks, herons, pheasants, badgers, foxes, hares, rabbits, dragonflies and butterflies.
Sleeping arrangements range from a room in the house to a room in the barn or the mobile home and depend upon circumstances but I'll try to make you as comfortable as possible. So email me with dates and I'll be more specific about beds etc.
There is a lot of work to be done from fencing to digging to block-laying and carpentry. Cooking, cleaning and gardening also need to be done. A great place to learn new skills or to share old ones. A place for anyone willing to help out with whatever talents they have to share.
Knock Airport is 45 mins away. Bus and train in Ballin... more inside
