A beautiful property in Karekare, surrounded by bush, looking out at the ocean and a 25 minute drive to the nearest train station.

We are looking for help with skills in carpentry, gardening, photo scanning and simple web assistance. It would be advantageous if you had your own vehicle, as the property is quite remote.

We are a very easy going couple who enjoy meeting people from all over the world. Come stay if you are after a special experience on the west coast of New Zealand.

Hi there,

This time of year we are still lambing, next is tailing/docking the 2500 lambs, and calving 100 beef cows.

I'd appreciate some help with the kids, while I am out on the farm, and some help running the house ... If you're strong enough, you could even help catching the lambs for docking.

My Mum often looks after the kids, and Bella goes to childcare twice a week, so you will get plenty of opportunities to come out on the farm, and ride the horses.

If you're versatile and useful beyond a traditional "help exchange", we could help you out with a monetary gesture.

We are a traditional New Zealand farming family, been here for generations (5th up and coming).

Our extended family, mainly breed Sheep and Cattle (for wool & meat). We also rear and fatten dairy bulls, on 2000 acres.

Other animals include - Horses/Ponies, Dogs, Wild Goats, Peacocks, Turkeys, Geese, Deer and Ducks ...

You'll have the opportunity to be part of a NZ farming family.

We require help in the gardens/paddocks for about a week or two, (possibly longer), in August/September - weeding, planting, pruning, fence fixing, sweeping leaves, cleaning swimming pool and housework. Experience with garden tools useful, and experience with a chainsaw/scrub cutter is useful. Sorry, we don't have time to teach, so experience in at least some of these areas is a requirement. There is also some housework, like helping in the kitchen, cleaning and dusting/vacuuming/polishing if weather is too bad for gardening.
Apart from the work there are plenty of other local activities and amenities like surf beaches, vineyards, bush walks, trail bike riding, etc:
We are in a country area (vineyards, orchards, market gardens) with well-equipped village nearby but only 20 mins drive from Auckland city, the East Coast (safe, sandy) and West Coast (wild, surfing) beaches and lovely bush walks in the Waitakere Ranges.
Guaranteed no drudgery for willing and outgoing pe... more inside

*WE ARE FULLY BOOKED WITH HELPERS UNTIL NOVEMBER 19th*

My husband and I have a lifestyle block with dry cattle plus a large number of pets (dogs, cat, parrot, goats, pig, alpacas, lizards, chickens). We have herb & vegetable gardens and a small orchard. Our house is spacious and helpers have their own cottage. We have a games room and swimming pool. My parents also live in a house on our property. We're a caring, fun family and we live in a wonderful rural community. While we are fairly isolated we usually travel into town several times a week and are happy to assist helpers with transport. Farm work can be fairly strenuous so our helpers need to be able to cope with physical work, but we try to vary the workload. Please note that if you have allergies to grass or pollen our property is not suitable.

This season our projects include preparing vegetable gardens, trimming fruit trees, painting a fence, tidying up gardens & cleaning out animal enclosures.

Who we are:

We are young family of four, Matt, Rebecca and Monty (3 y,o.) and Harvey (10 months). We live in Three Kings, a small suburb of Auckland around 8.5kms from the city centre. Also within walking distance to the supermarket, the bus, a pub, swimming pool and the gym. We own our own businesses on the other side of town so between working full time, running two businesses and raising the kids we are busy people.

What we are looking for:

We are currently seeking one or two helpx to begin immediately to help us make our busy lives a little easier. We are primarily after someone who has childcare experience and is able to look after Monty and Harvey like they are your own. We both work fickle hours and the next two weeks are going to be manic for us at work so we are looking for people with flexibility to help us out maybe with short notice. Ideally you will have confidence with a baby, be able to negotiate with a 3 year old, show initiative, be patient, friendly, cou... more inside
