Our retreat centre is a flourishing sanctuary where we celebrate life, nurture the human spirit and encourage personal responsibility through stewardship of the natural environment. We provide opportunities for the deepening of well-being through connection with self, community and nature, and a safe haven for native flora and fauna. We offer this sanctuary for the benefit of generations to come. This is a purpose-built retreat centre sitting on 344 hectares of native bush in the Coromandel Peninsula of the North Island of New Zealand. We host a variety of community events and a program of retreats and residential courses. Over the last 20 years this has included Insight Meditation retreats, Yoga retreats, Dances of Universal Peace gatherings, personal and professional development groups, seasonal celebrations and women’s gatherings.

Volunteers and Service Teams are a vital part of the running of this place.

We welcome the energy, enthusiasm and contribution of volunteers and ... more inside

Hi Folks,
I and my new puppy "Sparrows", 8 ducks and a few goldfish, are living in a great little place, halfway up a hill with bush and water views. The Tui's (native bird with a amazing song) can wake you early, but having breakfast on the deck is a great compensation :).
I would like folks aged over 25 please and it would be best if you have a car, as I live about 10 minutes out of Thames up the coast.
I am needing some help with the orchard, pruning and weeding, also the vegie garden and some building projects.
I think i am pretty flexiable around your needs and my needs. I like cooking but would love to have an exchange with you.
PLEASE NO SMOKERS.
Cheers Victoria

We live off grid in a beautiful slice of paradise and invite you to join us for a while. We are looking for someone to help out with a variety of tasks.

Food prep and tidy up is shared. We will be doing lots of skill sharing and keen to talk all things sustainable housing/ off grid/ solar power/ micro hydro/ self-sufficiency.

There are two Yurts on the site and we have recently built a big earth deck (covered over)

Rowan and Bx have worked on organic farms for years and look forward to firing up our winter garden. Rowan has been an earth builder and market garden chap. We have had heaps of small businesses and have had heaps of visitors help in them over the years. We have been accused of being hippies.

Sorry but we don't want regular cigarette smokers as helpers.

None of our younger children go to school. We are all life learning together and keen to share this radical, alternative view of curriculum-free education with any interested volunteers.

We have lots of... more inside

I live in Ruamahunga Bay on the beautiful Thames Coast, around 15-20 minutes drive from Thames township. I have a family of 3 cats and one dog. My house is not right on the beach, but is up a quiet little side road and only 1 minute walk down to the beach. There`s a lovely rocky stream at the bottom of the garden.

At the moment I really need some help with weeding and clearing in the garden. Its not hard physical work, maybe a little bit of digging but not much, mostly just weeding.

I am looking for someone to come and stay for a few days, and they could have the little self contained caravan in the bottom of the garden. For this exchange I would like it if the person/people worked 2 hours a day in exchange for the accommodation and breakfasts, teas, coffees. They would need to provide their own lunch and dinner. The caravan has a stove and a fridge, an electric jug, a toaster, pots and pans and plates etc, and a little dining table.

If you wanted to you could do one or ... more inside

Looking for 1 or 2 people
Cleaning, tidying up, folding laundry, windows, helping with daughter (don't worry no nappy changes needed)

Light gardening, e.g. weeding
and some other small household tasks that may need doing. If you have any particular interests please let us know.

Ideal dates : Arriving this week

We are a young couple (from New Zealand and Germany) looking for help (either 1 x or 2 x people happy to share a room) with general landscaping (we are repairing the garden and orchard after the flood - so a green thumb would be practical!), and some light building work - experience would be great but we are also happy to teach new skills to repair the flood damage we had.

4 hours work each day in exchange you will have a warm, private sleepout with bathroom and kitchenette, 3 x meals a day (we love to cook) and right on the beach.

Go for hikes, use our kayak, go fishing - you can even bring your own kitesurfing gear.

We have travelled a lot ourselves, ... more inside

I am a retired medical herbalist growing plants for medicine, 3 km north of Coromandel town, near Driving Creek Cafe; we have medicinal herbs growing all around the farm. The work is mostly farm work looking after chickens, collecting chicken poo for the gardens, preparing garden beds for herbs, digging out wild ginger and privet along the Whangarahi River, mowing the grass, and mulching fruit and nut trees. On rainy days we clean the house, or strain out herbal tinctures. Minimum stay 10 days.

We work 2 hours a day, 1 day a week time off. This is work in return for accomodation, you provide your own food, (there is a communal kitchen/caravan for cooking) and you can go offsite to neighbouring hosts for food. ie.one meal each day, eg. 2 hours work for Alison in return for dinner; Showers and laundry provided at Naomi`s house, there is a bicycle available to get to town, 3km away.

Please email and let me know when you`re available, age and nationality, and what ... more inside

Hi - We are looking for help right now with building, landscaping jobs and general weeding etc. Applicants must be reasonably fit and strong and be able to use power tools and swing a hammer. I have settled on a 4 acre bush block with sea views. I am situated 7mins by car from Whitianga town and 3 mins from the main beach. We have fresh water swimming in the stream nearby and our property is rich with NZ birds and NZ native fauna. We have Kiwi Birds on our property which is very special to us plus many other types of native NZ birds. My son liam ( 20 yrs) lives with me and has his own cabin not far from the house.

Amazing view at Hot Water Beach. In exchange for staying at our famous Hot Water Beach where you can enjoy a hot spa on the beach whilst staying in our home. We need responsible, enthusiastic helpers with practical rural Experience. Most of our property is in native bush with landscaped gardens and a large vegetable garden.
The tasks that we need help with vary between the vegetable garden/bush work and general maintenance.
We would prefer a couple (25+) who are committed to helping us in return for staying in this amazing part of the world. You can check out the property on bookabach. We expect that our helpers are non smokers. We have a friendly cat and dog. You will need your own transport as there is no public transport.
