We have a small house with a huge backyard in Invercargill. We offer a homestay with 3 young adults. As a born and breed locally I have a wealth of knowledge about Southland to share with people travelling around the area/country. As for work in exchange for accommodation, some information and a meal or two we always have things to be done. The main task I require of people is helping in the massive job of renovating a 25ft gutted caravan to a tiny house I will eventually live in full time. We also have a large vegetable garden and lawn which as we work fulltime struggle to maintain. We also have a small zoo with 4 dogs, a rabbit and a cat which need love, attention, runs and playing with. Overall we are a bit of a crazy house but love to meet new people to add to the craziness for a bit.

My name is Craig. I'm a children's author and songwriter. I have a young daughter .

My holiday home is located 70km from the nearest shops {Manapori and Te Anau} in the far south western corner of the South Island. It's only a few km from fiordland national park and lake Monowai. 2 hours and 15 mins drive from Queenstown heading south west. My log cabin has 3 bedrooms, and lots of land. Because it's my holiday home I don't get to look after the land as much as I would like so I need some help to clear the land.

I am willing to supply accommodation (your own room) in the 3 bedroomed log cabin, 3 meals a day and all the local advice for walks etc in your down time in exchange for 4 hours of work per person per day.

Because of it's proximity to Fiordland national park some of the best and secluded walks and treks are located just a few km away. Work is predominately "on the land" clearing weeds and small bush.Planting native trees and Flax. Lawn mowing,. Things of this natur... more inside

We own a boat charter and accommodation busiess here on Stewart Island. From November thru May is our busy season so we are looking for keen energetic individuals or couples to assist us. Work would include gardening and lawns. A handyman or woman for maintenance jobs ie; painting would be wonderful. Mac computer help a plus. We have an on going noxious weed eradication running on our historic property. This enables us to then replant with native seedlings. In return for your help four and half hours per day or work 2 six and half hour days for day off which to explore you will be given your own room and meals .We have a French Bull dog Bella and sleep and goat Rosa. Need to have tramping boots and good rain coat if you are planning on tramping from Freshwater to Mason Bay or other tracks. We have a lifestyle block 8km from Te Anau with a large garden.
We grow an extensive range of fruit and vegetables, and process these in various ways.We have bees and our plantings are bee and bird friendly. We also have two very friendly cats (which sadly are not bird friendly). We would love some help with the gardens and household tasks, whatever needs to be done on the day. Some of the work is heavy for instance pruning and mulching.
We would like to host people who are practical and quick learners, prepared to help out steadily for 4 hours a day, are not smokers, and eat a variety of food including meat. Your own transport is also necessary as we live out of town.
In return you will have a comfortable bedroom in our house (the bathroom is shared) and meals. If you want to work a full day then have a day off to explore our beautiful area, that is fine with us. We are right on the edge of Fiordland National Park!

We have a small farm running Highland cattle, some milking cows for our own use, hens, pigs and ducks and lambs.
We have a moderate size tunnel house raising our own seed for vegtables and depending on the season can be self sufficient in meat and vegetables, fruit and berries. We are alongside the Waikaia River and during the fishing season this a great trout river.
Our home is 3 kms from the local small town and within 2 hrs to Te Anau, Dunedin, Queenstown and Invercargill.
We would welcome help on the property either in the gardens and tunnelhouse or with the stock or buildings. We are willing to share our skills in animal husbandry and landcare with anyone willing to learn, and encourage your help with working with the stock.
Any Trade skills would be welcomed and used. We would look for around 4-5 hours help per day. There is a wonderful DOC reserve just up the road with tracks and off road exploring around about.
Great Cellphone reception and wifi available.

We focus on breeding and training purebred Arabian horses to compete at top level Endurance races all over the world. All handling, shoeing and training is done here. This includes starting young horses in the yards through to training seasoned endurance horses.
We are looking for experienced riders who are willing to learn and share horse knowledge. Ability to ride green broke horses and/or starters would be a bonus.
Riding lessons are available for inexperienced riders in return for household duties or gardening.

hello helpers. Be great to have you come and help us. We are a small cafe, a museum, a developing garden. Sometimes Airbnb. You'll love the space - very arty and interesting. You'll be doing anything from creating to cleaning.
Here we are the gateway to Stewart Island, Catlins and Fiordland. It's South so sometimes quite cold.
You'll live with a small friendly dog and snooty cat. Minimum 1 week stay - but flexible if you wish to come and go. Better to have your own transport as I pretty much work full time. Be great to hear from you. Cheers Cherie
