Sorted for now.

We live on a 3 acre lifestyle block, some of which we use to grow a small flower farm. The property is 10 mins from Christchurch airport and about 25 mins from the centre of the city. There isn't much public transport so you would really need your own. We are looking for 3-4 hours help a day in exchange for accommodation and meals. WiFi available. Work will be mostly outside - planting and weeding, stacking wood - but some cooking/cleaning would also be good if that suits.

Hello

We are Gary and Vicki and live on a small farm just outside of Darfield, around 30 minute drive from Christchurch.

We are self sufficient and have Hens and chickens, sheep, calves and heaps of fruit trees and veggie gardens. We are a sprayfree organic farm and grow what we eat. We milk our own sheep and make cheese and Greek yoghurt from it. (Oct to Feb)
You can help with the Sheep Milking and have a go at making our cheese, yogurt and ice-cream.

There is always work to do on our farm. We are in need of help right now with the Vegetable Garden, planting, weeding and berry picking also there are heaps of other farm chores like pruning the orchard, growing seeds, transplanting the baby plants, looking after the hens, collecting firewood etc, All of the work is outdoors

We are able to offer a warm house with a log fire, a comfortable bed, delicious food from the land and a great New Zealand experience. We live just in front of the Waimakariri river so there is als... more inside

Looking for a house sitter over the christmas period. Looking after the animals is the main job, checking they have water.
About us; Lifestyle block under construction with 2 dogs (Scruff and Skye), cow (Sparkles), sheep and horses (Paddy, Sugar and Craker). We are a couple in our early 30ies who love the outdoors and have recently bought this bare paddock that we are hoping to make our home, so far we have planted loads of trees and put up some fences to stop the animals eating the trees! Last summer we built 3 bay pole shed with the help of friends and a temporary container home, where you would stay with us! We can offer a small private room to stay (double bed so could suit a couple) and will provide meals in exchange for around 3hrs work. It is pretty cosy living so easy going friendly people who are happy living in a small space are essential! We are based just outside of Christchurch near Lincoln. Lincoln has shops and cafes and is about 10min drive, 15min cycle on a cycle ... more inside

Helpx Profile

Rural shared house/Homestay, original farmstead. We are looking for people who would like to live at our place for free, in exchange for 3 or 4 hours work per day.

We prefer people to stay two weeks minimum or longer.

Ours is a gay friendly house.

You would ALSO need to be OK with nudity (people also swim and bathe (fire-baths) nude here too (outside - all year round) - I know - it's weird, but what can you do?) ... a lot of our friends (and me) like to come out here to enjoy the sun, It's not every day in-your-face nudity, but it can happen from time to time.

Overall we have been very pleased with all our helpers so far **although we would prefer people over 25 years old**

If you need to be stoned on a daily basis to get by, then maybe life here is not for you. We don't mind it occassionally, but everyday use completely lowers your ability to function normally - not that you would notice it of course, but we do. Cleaning up after stoners can... more inside

Hi my name is Natalia and I'm looking for help with some indoor and outdoor projects. I have a number of days worth of work.
I live in the port of Lyttelton which is a beautiful place. We are a friendly community and there are many walks and beaches close by. .There's a supermarket, cafes and music venues just down the road.
I have a comfortable modern house and share it with one flatmate, a small dog and super friendly ginger cat.
I enjoy very much meeting people of all ages from many countries and over the years have had people staying from Japan, China, Australia, Europe and the US and Canada.I speak English ,French and rusty Russian. I'm a musician and teach the piano. I have also taught and tutored English as a second language.
If you are free soon and want a friendly place to stay in a comfortable house and can give me a hand in the garden or inside as jobs arise please contact me . Warm greetings
Natalia

We are a small farm in BURNHAM which is an area around 20 km south of Christchurch.

The area is flat farm land with spectacular views of the mountains.

We have many kinds of farm and domestic animals and breed miniature horses. There are also large horses that can to be ridden (but not by beginners, sorry).

You must like horses, as you could be dealing with them daily. We want helpers to help for 4 hours per day each. At this time of the year we would like helpers to work in the garden and do other "odd jobs" around the farm. (Riding horses isn't work-Derek)

The accommodation is a comfortable cabin separate from the main house. You would be expected to be a part of our household so helping with house hold tasks could be expected. We have Wifi. We are not vegetarians but if you are that's okay.

If you don't have a vehicle there is a public bus system 3km from our gate that will take you into Christchurch.

You are more then welcome to visit, but we do like to have h... more inside

We are looking for someone to help at our busy hostel and also looking for housekeepers. Please read below about each of these vacancies.

HOUSEKEEPERS:

From early December, we are looking for a kind and friendly traveller to help us with housekeeping.

We believe that every guest deserves to enjoy a clean and tidy hostel, and so we are only interested in people who are willing to do an excellent job here. You will get the opportunity to stay here at our hostel, and get to enjoy everything the guests enjoy, such as free unlimited WiFi, the use of the Sauna and Hot Tub, hanging out on the bean bags in the garden, and off course cuddling and playing with Max, the dog.

Enjoy your afternoons off, go to the beach or explore all the exciting things Christchurch has to offer. Often our helpers find other paid work for a a few hours in the evenings on a couple of afternoons or nights in the city to boost their travel funds.

Just so you know, in our hostel, we promote a r... more inside
