Our HelpX programme has finished for 2019 and we will start taking people again from around April next year. So if you are interested in a place for 2020, we would like to hear from you.

We are Jane and Dave. We live in a small village in rural Lincolnshire in the East of England where we keep bees, chickens and pigs, and a lovely cat and grow fruit and vegetables in our large garden.

Weve travelled a lot ourselves, so its great to welcome people from around the world into our own home. We get the benefit of all the help with the animals, the garden and our various projects and enjoy the company of so many interesting people. We particularly want to hear from people with specific skills such as a real knowledge of gardening, carpentry or construction work.

This is a home stay, you live as part of the family, and it is really important for us to know that we will all get on well together. Part of living as a family involves helping with ordinary household chores in addit... more inside

I am a retired English teacher with an interest in all things organic. I live with my husband Richard who is a computer manager, and our newest family member, a rather naughty little puppy.
We have built a straw bale house in our garden, We keep bees and run a Community Orchard. We are looking for help with our garden,, cutting hedges and weeding, and help with our grandchildren, aged 4 and 6.
WeI will help the volunteer to improve their English, and you have a nice bedroom and bathroom and good food which is mainly vegetarian.
We have an internationally renowned Art Gallery in Wakefield, a wonderful Sculpture Park, and the University city of Leeds is 20 minutes away on the train.

We also have a seaside apartmen very close to a surfing beach, which you can see in the photos. The first photo shows our Wakefield garden.

Our helpers have all been amazing, and we really enjoy the experience; we hope you will too!

We are a couple from Cornwall who are helping to run the family's small holding. We are fun loving, hard working individuals who are enjoying implementing Permaculture designed buildings, allotment, polytunnel, animal areas, forest garden and ponds. We have a large variety of projects on the go from building sheds to 12v solar/wind systems and rocket mass heaters to apple tree guilds. We are interested in planting edible/medicinal plants and already have some on the go ready to harvest for tintures! Our work varies between building, gardening, animals and holiday lets. Exciting :)
Nick normally works full-time at home finishing and experimenting with new ideas whilst Rosie works full-time as a primary school teacher.
Nicks family also live at home, so there's always lots going on and we often eat communally :)

We can take one person for December but otherwise are now looking for helpers from the middle of February and for the rest of 2020. Minimum stay 3 weeks.

We are close to town and sea with Dartmoor nearby.

Whilst we do prefer longer stays we will take people for as little as 3 weeks. But not less than 3 weeks, we find that the early days can be difficult for everyone and it takes a while to get to know each other. It also takes time for helpers to learn the routines.

Philosophy:
We have a small holding in Devon where we aim to grow as much of our own food as we can in an organic and sustainable way. So we have a small orchard a Kitchen Garden for vegetable growing, a fruit garden for soft fruit plus half an acre of flower gardens. We also have poultry (Chickens, various ducks, and geese) and there are bees which belong to a friend. The poultry are not for eating, but do provide us with a plentiful supply of eggs for most of the year.
Although not self sufficient in fruit a... more inside

Next vacancy; December 7th
Only open to people who have some experience with horses. A lightweight, confident rider would be very useful just now!
Most of the reviews below are from when I lived at Withy Cottage. Since July 2018, I've been at Manor Farm. Different environment, same me!
Always fun to be had....

I am a semi retired teacher with a love of the countryside, my animals, wildlife, cycling, art, music and dancing. I have a small grassland holding for my 4 horses. I live in a very tiny cottage, deep in the Lincolnshire countryside; ten minutes' drive from Horncastle and Spilsby, small market towns, and 30 miles from Lincoln, a beautiful historic city. There are buses to these towns, but it's a very long walk to the bus stop. ((We really are very rural). Our nearest train station is in Boston, which can be reached via either Grantham, Lincoln or Peterborough from most towns with nearby airports.
