Macalla farm is a 240 acres farm (some of it planted with trees) on an island off the West coast of Ireland. We have ducks, sheep and horses, as well as the usual cats and dogs.
We grow most of our vegetables and fruit in our gardens and polytunnels and in the spring and summer, we produce yoghurt and cheese from sheep`s milk. We also run a yoga and meditation retreat centre and training courses in vegetarian cooking, natural horsemanship and natural horse care. We also have a small restaurant, so experience in the catering trade would be an advantage.
We are currently looking people for the spring and summer of 2019. The minimum stay in the spring (from late February to mid June) is 3 weeks, and for the summer we ask people to commit to a minimum of two month. Our place is not suitable for teenagers and we have a strict so smoking policy, so please, no smokers. We prefer people with an active interest in organic food production, self sufficiency or sustainable living. An inter... more inside

We are building a retreat centre in stunningly beautiful nature in the far south-west of Cork and looking for serious and enthusiastic helpers. Our magical property has its own pebble beach facing south onto the Atlantic, extensive parts of unspoiled nature and somewhat cultivated gardens that need maintenance. Our poly-tunnel is going. Potatoes are growing. Several flowerbeds are in bloom. More organic vegetable and flower gardens are planned. There is always weeding to be done. We are still building; the main house and the large wooden meeting/ activities hall with some guestrooms are ready. Two more cabins almost. We have a delicious vegetarian kitchen which occasionally serves fish. Our cappuccinos are excellent.
It is a fabulous calming and healthy venue away from the world in the fresh Atlantic air; Mizenhead is nearby and also trips to musical events are organised. But diverse (gardening, building, cleaning) serious work has to be done first.
So if you, preferably, are cap... more inside

We require some help for a week or two in February 2019.

Our Hotel is officially closed for winter, so it will not be a crazy busy work period.

I have a mobile home available for the winter. It has wood stove, 2 bedrooms, shower, the toilet is an outside compost toilet. I'm toying with the idea of having someone long term but they would have to suit everyone else living in the space, so it could suit an independant person who wants a place to stay for the winter. Rent and electric are negotiable as is food and fuel depending on who you are and what you are able for. I will have a few weeks with families staying in the house, otherwise its just me, jack and manus around. I'd be really happy if you were able for sorting a Grey water system for the caravan and fixing the porch, which is now a foot from the mobile home since we changed mobiles. We are working on a hedge in the new fields and I'm away working a lot.

Independant, easy going, liberal minded, unjudgemental people is what we are looking for, we are who we are, this might be 5 star reviews, but it's not 5 star accommodation! If it rains there is mud, bring wel... more inside
