We are a small cattle farm. We are calving, in the spring such an exciting time of year. we have about 65 cows and 20 horses all year. we have an additional 30 horses from October to June. The 30 horses work for a guiding outfit the other months. in the summer we hay and we also ride horse to check on the cattle which are on pasture. The Fall is fairly busy with gathering the cattle from the range and shipping the calves to market. Winter there is feeding the animals hay with the tractors and keeping the fires going as it gets cold. Spring is the busiest season with calving. Summer time is fishing time and we ice fish in the winter as there are many lakes around. We have a leather workshop where we make shirts, chaps, belts and more.

Hello there! We're an off-grid permaculture farm specializing in research and design. For 2017 we have some great projects lined up including expanding our experimental hop yard, a trial plot of malting barley, rotating pastures for an expanding herd of sheep and llamas, a commercial size root cellar for storing produce, building a moveable greenhouse and experimenting with four season vegetable growing.

We have three apprentices confirmed for this year, 1 for the full season and 2 for the second half. Tenting or your own rig will be the only available accommodation after July 15. We guarantee a beautiful and educational experience, with plenty of opportunity to socialize and explore the rivers, mountains, and lakes. Dig in!

We are a German family and own our place since 18 years. Our kids are living in town and so we are looking for somebody to help us.
We have 70 cow-calf pairs and 10 horses. It would be nice to have some help with fencing, gardening and yard work. If you like horses and all other farm animals as well as working outdoors you might be the right person.
In our spare time we enjoy riding and driving our horses.Maybe you could join us !
Though our area is not very known by tourists, the Peace River Country offers lots of things to see and to do. We got lots of wildlife like moose, bears and deer. While working on our farm, you can really enjoy nature.
There is one thing you should know: we have only dial-up internet connection as we are 50km out of town(Fort St. John)
We look forward to here from you if you like nature and the outdoors more than citylife.

Our young family owns and operates a small scale permaculture and progressive cold climate agriculture farm on 125 acres near Dawson Creek BC, historic start of the Alaska Highway. We have a small creamery for cheese production, make several types of cured meats, and we are constantly experimenting different growing methodologies. We also are the home of some of the finest Warmblood Sporthorses and breeding program in Northern BC. Our goal is to push back the months of food and produce winter drought in the far north, and advance practical methods for high latitude food security.

We live off the grid (with an array of solar panels and a backup generator run on recycled vegie-oil) on 160 acres of mixed forest with several creeks flowing through it.

Gardening (we have a good sized vegetable patch) is part of the spring, summer and fall routine as well as gathering firewood, trail clearing, caring for our ducks and horses, fixing fences, and picking edible wild foods and herbs etc. We eat a lot of what the garden has ready or what is in the root cellar.

We continue to work on the new addition (including a 2 story turret) to our owner-built house (a passive solar design) using as much local material as possible, combining earthbag, strawbale, cob, and adobe with a post and beam frame.
We 're also finishing a new greenhouse (64'x12'), and look forward to a longer growing season for tomatoes, peppers etc. and to be able to try to grow more exotic foods such as yams, ginger, lemons etc.

We are looking for helpers who are physically fit, hardworking, k... more inside

Hi!
We are couple with a mixed farm and could use a person or two to help with projects and chores!
We both have a good sense of humor and love the farm life!

There are cows, pigs, a few horses, rabbits, chickens, geese, turkeys (the birds free range), and a bunch of big dogs to look after everything! If you are looking for a place to go that has a lot of different animals, we have a bit of variety here;)
Not certified organic but are working toward it eventually.

Accomodations to stay in while you are here..we have a caravan(trailer) with a couple beds in it, if more than one person comes it will be shared between you!
It has a tiny bathroom in it but the washroom in the house is available for showers.

The projects/chores could be...
Feeding/watering bunnies and other animals, checking cows, building projects(someone handy at building things would be great, we have a few things to build),planting and gardening(anyone love weeding???:), cooking meals, housework, dis... more inside
